Rest in peace to James Avery, not only the only ever Uncle Phil but also the classic 80s Shredder; especially as this game is simply a Time Capsule for everything that makes clsssic TMNT fun alongside incredible modern music and Sprite work. I don’t think any of us would expect a game this simple and cute to get voice acting, let alone something this charming and accurate! This is truly an incredible blend of old and new which lives up to the legacy of the original show and games it was based on while still being so incredibly fresh that all should take part in!
The best part is that the game feels completely different when you play it solo vs playing with friends. Having 1 player is challenging, 2 feel competitive, 4 is a fun time, and 6 is absolute mayhem.
"halfway decent 3d platformer on the xbox" i was going to say psychonauts but whenever i play it on console i want to rip all of the cells out of my body so i cant even say psychonauts here
@@Martin-fb9pb true tbh, its legit one of my fave games ever but i got it on my xbox one thru game pass and i hated it 😭 its much better on pc, i just switched between a mouse and a 360 controller when i needed to
@@iwakeupandboomimarat I also loved Psychonauts, but I played it on PS4 and it's a bit janky, but not that bad. I said it's a meh platformer because it doesn't focus a lot on it until Meat Circus. The second one controls much better and is a better platformer imo
10:09 Jack isn't lying. The animation team behind ROTTMNT and Monkie Kid are pretty much the Studio TRIGGER of America. I watched Rise just to experience the energy and flavor behind the animation.
Theyre actually an Australian studio, btw! Though the boarders are american and some of the supervisors make full rough animatics that are just as insane
37:58 You’re actually supposed to make Chrome Dome vulnerable by throwing a Foot Bot at him, which is a reference to the first Shredder fight in the SNES version of Turtles in Time. It’s still pretty vague (Especially if you’ve never played TIT), but it’s a bit more clear than hitting the barrel.
I appreciate you not dismissing Rise-its my absolute favorite (especially Rise Raph) and is not only gorgeous but the characters and writing are really, really good-it just takes time for the story and development to make themselves apparent. The 'filler' episodes are incredibly important to the character development-and also funny as hell.
Ground Chuck and Dirtbag are real characters made for the show, forgotten by all but the guys at IDW. Because IDW always remembers the most obscure characters.
Well i clicked on this thinking what better way to kick off my indoctrination into the Beat em Up genre (don't ask how many hours i have in Double Dragon Neon) but instead I now know Venus the Turtle was a thing and my life is much worse for it. Keep up the good work Bumbles.
Little thing about Chrome Dome: he’s a return from Turtles in Time. How you have to beat him properly is to use the foot soldiers that spawn and throw them at him. Don’t bother fighting them and instead use them as your personal baseballs. Yes, this also applies to that game too.
Just gotta say, you can make Chromedome easier by throwing Foot Soldiers at him when he jumps towards the screen. I think it’s a reference to an old Shredder boss where you have to do the same thing.
Yeah, was gonna post this too. Probably because Bumble didn't like how throws work in the first place. XD Since I played TMNT IV religiously back when I was a kid, screen throwing is like breathing to me: run attack, grab, throw.
@@LisaVGG its exclusive to the SNES Turtles in Time, because in the arcade after the sewer level (which you don't fight Ratking either) you head STRAIGHT to the prehistoric level, in the SNES version you go to the Technodrome and fight Shredder in his machine that has him sitting in the background
Always when I'm in bed, but I can't just "wait until morning" when my 18th favorite youtuber is on! Mainly because he also fills most of the rest of that top 20. It's like 19 bumblesmcfumbles, and one jubyphonic mixed in to trick you into a false sense of security
I grew up with the 2012 version. I remember being really excited when it came out, too. Watched nearly every episode. As a young adult now, I began watching the 2018 version recently for the nostalgia, and to see how it differed from the previous iterations. In my opinion, not only is it a fun watch, but it's probably the closest modern iteration of the original 80's show that I've seen so far. They actually act their age for the most part and have wildly different personalities than their counterparts. I've barely gotten past the first season, it's campy and cheesy but it's still pretty great tbh. I already want to watch the movie that just came out.
I love all the incarnations of the turtles from the classics to the 2018 version but 2012 will always have a special place in my heart it's what I grew up with sure the classics have they're comedy, 2003 has its character designs, lore and plot (and introduced second mutations and monster Donnie) and 2018 has its characterization and art style but 2012 is what I had and saw so it will always be #1 to me that and it has my fav incarnation of donnie
2003 Fan here. The Added palettes was a welcome but I had already become a fan of the other versions by the time this was announced. I love that each incarnation is its own take of the *teenage* in the name.
25:37 nope those are actual villains from the original cartoon. I’m surprised they brought back some more obscure villains for this game. 28:47 also bootleg be bebop and Rocksteady names are tokka and rahzar they’re from the 90s live action movie secret of the ooze.
The fact you've reviewed some of my favorite games in the two-three weeks i've known about this channel is great. You make some of the best vids out there man, Love it!
tmnt 2003 is great. its much closer to the original comics (while still taking liberties here and there, notably with the main shredder of the series being basically a fusion between the shredder and krang)
I will never forget 100%-ing Mutant Nightmare, namely because it ripped my nuts off lol. Call it stockholm syndrome, but I'm filled with nostalgia for it.
Great work as to be expected from the GOAT Jack. I've never been into TMNT (I was legitimately afraid of them as a kid) nor am I any good at all at beat'em ups, but a fresh take. I'm glad I got to see this game through your eyes, otherwise I'd never see it at all.
"I was legitimately afraid of them as a kid" ...wow.... that is.... honest-to-god one of the absolute stupidest things I have ever seen written as a complete sentence, or read in my entire life. I really REALLY hope you were relentlessly bullied as a child. I think you probably may have deserved it.
@@the-NightStar I mean yeah, I was bullied pretty bad. I would sit on the bus in a way that no one could see me so the older kids wouldn't see me. Mind you, by age 10 I was telling them to fuck their hat so I grew out of it pretty quick.
15:15 Power Rangers fan here to shed more light on this for all 12 people interested. There is anywhere from 21 to 29 versions of power rangers depending on how you count it. Despite the most current age group of extreme toy buying power having either grown up with “The Disney Era” (2003-2009) or are the parents of kids in the current “Hasbro” era all comics, most prolific toy releases etc. focus on the original 1993 team. No one likes this, save us from our hell. We don’t want to hear about Tommy Oliver again.
Nothing has been weirder growing up than knowing I beat a level many consider unfair and impossible when I was 7. (I really liked turtles as a kid so I was willing to beat my tiny head against the wall getting good at that part)
heh I kinda laughed when he expressed difficulty fighting those Pizza monsters, they can be tricky if you go after them...the trick is to let them dive into the ground and start a charge attack then unleash it when they jump at you, this stuns them so go to town on them after, they are REALLY simple if you fight them this way
@@Damian_1989 I find that comes with a risk for certain characters, like strange enough if you use Mikey or Raph I think, the Pizza monsters might end up hitting them out of their jump attack instead, I find the charge attack is ALOT safer and anyone can use it reliably
My main complaint about this game is that I was very confused when it ended. Like Shredder just kind of showed up without much warning and the game wrapped up very quickly afterwards.
From what i've read it's because very early in development, Shredder was gonna be an unnanounced surprise appearance at the very end, but the game then got the name "Shredder's Revenge" and they switched to him making appearances as a buildup to his fight.
In the Chrome Dome fight, you can actually throw the ninjas at the screen to damage him and make him vulnerable, so you actually don't have to use the barrel at all if you don't want to.
to answer what points do for those like me who aren't grateful they just exist, they're the exp, they're actually how you level up, and i apologize that i have to expose heinous lie that the level ups are after killing a certain amount of enemies.
WHat I love so much about your videos is that they have a lot of rewatch value. I literally just noticed in 16:43 instead of the music title its just obligating to us to listen to the whole game OST and its details like those or a joke that you wont understand until the second watching of the video that keep it so alive
I feel like the game should have been named "krang's revenge" because it seems like they wanted to make shredder's return a surprise in the game but that doesn't really work when his name is in the title.
The way to beat Chrome Dome is actually by throwing the foot soldiers at the screen and the hint is that’s where he goes to hide and hit you from afar. The barrels pop up as a second way to get him to come back in case throwing is too tricky for you
Slightly unrelated note, who could forget the iconic line from the original live action adolescent monstrosity shinobi reptiles of “I made a funny. Ha ha ha.”
At 9:06 , a millisecond after he said nickelodeon, it gave me a nickelodeon ad. Either biggest coincidence in the world or RU-vid was watching the same video as me.
I’ve been playing a lot of dungeon fighter which’s just a mmo beat em up,this intro spoke to me on a “it’s suspicious you brought this up at this time “ way
Jack you’re not alone I missed the pizzas on the skateboard levels, and never did the hitless levels. I played as Splinter Also I want an entire video on Hit Jazz
38:12 that moment when you forget YOU CAN THROW ENEMIES AT THE SCREEN TO HIT CROME DOME. I'm sorry, but i realized this immediately, and most people i see play the game do not know this.
Ok. I have to say this. I know The Next Mutation is bad. I know why it's bad, i know how it's bad, and i have always accepted that it is bad. But goddamn it has aged in a way that makes you laugh with how bad it is. But be warned that the show is cursed. Watch the whole series, and you'll be unable to stop yourself from saying things like "Badaboom!" Or "Certified-turtlefied" every now and again.
Like Otis from barnyard, the original party animals, a 2006 computer-animated comedy film produced by O Entertainment and distributed by Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies. The film is directed, produced, and written by Steve Oedekerk, the co-creator of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius and its television series continuation The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius. The film stars the voices of Kevin James, Courteney Cox, Sam Elliott, Danny Glover, Wanda Sykes, Andie MacDowell, and David Koechner. It tells the story of Otis, a carefree Holstein cow who learns the value of responsibility when he becomes the leader of his farm home's community after his adoptive father's death from a coyote attack.
also chrome dome is meant to be fought like how the technodrome shredder was in the snes port of turtles in time. when he flies into the foreground, you're supposed to throw enemies INTO the screen.
It may have been commented already but . You dont NEED to destroy the barrel for chromedome to give you an opening instead throw a foot soldier towards the screen. Much like turtles in time.
Is it weird that I associate certain videos with levels in video games? This was on in the background of my 100% sweep of the snow level in mario rabbits sparks of hope so I always think of that game when I rewatch this video
38:00 The barrels aren’t actually how you’re intended to make him come down. That’s just what knocks him down if you don’t do the intended method in time. The intended method is for you to throw one of the many foot soldiers at the screen which causes him to come down before that barrels appears.
RU-vid City Madness: Bumble's Fair Use Rumble is what I call the continuing issues with companies abusing copyright law to try to steal whatever money Bumbles can make off of his hard work making RU-vid videos. Hopefully one day the Rumble ends and RU-vid city is safe for RU-vidrs but Bumbles can't reat until he can make a Tony Hawk video without Activision trying to copyright strike ten seconds of footage or w/e.
