@Megatholis Most of it goes to my chickens, worms, soldier flies, or my compost piles. Plastic gets turned into insulation for buildings. Metal goes to scrap yard for recycling. No trash pick-up service here. I only go to the dump once or twice a year if I have something like motor oil or batteries to dispose of. I definitely don't throw it in the fecking ocean like this missed abortion of a human being.
My Dad was wealthy, but he raised us like we were poor. Taught self motivation and accountability for one's actions. My kids got the same treatment. Excellent results.
That's the part that I'm curious about. That clearly is not garbage that was generated on the boat. Not that it would be OK, but that would just be laziness. This is more than just lazy.
@@SmallSpoonBrigade Exactly my thought. They went out of their way to do this. Shows the character of this so called teens. That's why I hope the consequences are severe.
It's not the crime of the century either. People are way over reacting, some even suggesting loss of the boat, 20 years in prison, parents charged, etc. It's bonkers really. Yes, they should be held accountable, but let the punishment fit the crime. Also, charging all on the boat is ridiculous when only two committed the crime.
Chris and Lisa Ruth are the boat's listed owners. I have to imagine 15yo Charles Ruth is their son, with his older brother at the helm. Confiscate the boat.
@@tigergreg8”might have money”? One of the teens were identified because the boat belonged to his father. The majority of Americans do not own boats, let alone know how to drive or ever been on one.
Teens say littering isn't bad. It's bad for the wild life. I stopped littering when I seen pictures of innocent animals trapped in trash and suffocating in bags. Animals don't deserve that.
As a Palm Beach County resident and beach walker - this is sick. Charge the Father too - for allowing this illegal and immoral behavior on his vessel. ✔️✔️✔️
Were the parents on the boat? You make it sound like they encouraged it. I don’t know if you have kids but parents can’t be held responsible for every dumb thing their kids do.
When I was in the Marine Corps I sailed on several Navy vessels, they dump all the trash out out sea, they dump furniture, heck they even dump pallets of unused soda and food because they can’t bring it back to the United States. For context the smallest ship I was aboard had 2,000 ppl, so you can do the math on just the everyday trash that was and still is dumped
That's what I was thinking, the parents should be fined at the very minimum $10,000. It has to hurt to show the kids in the family and others that they cannot do these things without repercussions.
Thank you for taking this so seriously! Our future generations deserve to enjoy the beautiful oceans like we did! We are responsible for maintaining it! Not just the government not the cleanup crews us as humans
This is terrible. They better receive some consequences for their actions. I'm not talking about fines either because there parents will pay that for them. This is the actions of spoiled kids that have not had any repercussions for anything they have done.
@@isailwind3471 That went right over your head. Who cares where it came from? It is about what kind of person you are. These Floridians are garbage themselves while the Dutch guy has his life priorities in the right place.
Cleaning up all the 3rd world countries garbage that they just throw into the ocean. Meanwhile this administration is allowing 10 million pieces of garbage to make its way into this country
@@themartdog Hmm maybe to not lend your boat out to people who you think would do something illegal and run the risk of impounding your boat? Or nah lets just let them go, I'm sure it will never happen again! See how stupid you sound now?
@@KentDaGangsta judges don't give out maximum sentences for first time offenders. Felony assault has a max sentence of 32 years in the US. The current average sentence is less than 1 year. More likely no jail time and a suspended sentence after a 2 year probation. Imagine getting a more severe sentence for littering than stabbing someone because that's what you just suggested.
@@michaelthompson9548 I think we should be tougher on crime, but ya know what? We aren't due to current policy. So why make an exception for a crime that offends you more than say shoplifting, assault or worse? Because it's an emotional response, not a logical one and people are desensitized to actual crime. It's why you can watch movies were 50 people are killed and it doesn't effect people watching, but if a dog gets killed, it's devastating. Same philosophy you got offended more by teens littering than a real crime that would actually be worthy of jail time. Think.
Imagine spending years saving your hard earned money to buy a boat to rent for income and some idiots you rented to did something stupid and got your boat seized by the government and sold at the auction
Ya'll really just say anything at this point, huh? Beavis and Butthead in the comments on their couch. It obviously wasn't the 15/16 year olds' boat, why punish the owner when the teens who did it are being held responsible?
@@themartdog the boat registration is listed as belonging to an LLC of a home healthcare company a company that is owned by the parents of the teenagers. One of whom was operating the boat at the time while he didn’t take part in actively dumping the trash, he took the boat from the intercoastal out into the ocean, where he thought no one would see them dumping, so yes, the boat should be seized. It’s being used as an illegal tax write off anyway.
1000 hrs and ensure they're serving those hours. They ain't learning any lesson with 200. Hopefully they can't buy their way out of those hours. 5 years in prison? Sure.
To the young lady towards the end saying you ‘live in such a beautiful area & that you shouldn’t do that’, it shouldn’t be done in any area no matter how beautiful or ugly it is. Trash is trash. It looks & is awful anywhere!
that girl didn't even believe what she was saying, clearly she was making stuff up to pretend like she cares... she was probably cheering for their animal-like behavior behind the scenes.
A "mistake" is any decision made using poor judgement, you are conflating "mistake" and "accident" to mean the same thing, which they do not. This was a mistake they need to pay for.
I don't hate rich kids, and I am not and never was rich. They did not throw the trash because they were rich but because they liked external validation and being part of the group too much to be a killjoy. They are also not aware that they live in a day and age that is increasingly misandrist and they have to adjust their behavior accordingly knowing that every mistake a group of boys, or even an individual reflects badly on all of them. As I said, I am sure someone in the boat knew it was stupid and bad.
Shameful behavior by these people dumping garbage and celebrating it… they are very well old enough to know the damage pollution causes to ocean wildlife
I have 7 months of Sea Time while serving in the Marines. 7 Months on board Naval ships having to separate trash by Metal, Paper, and Plastic. The Plastic gets melted into big patties and brought back to the states for further processing. The rest of the trash gets tossed overboard in large paper bags. Now do you think every single piece of plastic gets separated from the trash? Do you think Lance Corporals in the Marine Corps are going all out to get every little piece of dip spit covered plastic? I can assure you they are not and the US Navy is doing what these kids did on a scale so large it would make your head spin.
@@ZombieCartmanYTI don’t know how to break it to you, but state sponsored littering is still litter. And just because bigger problems exist doesn’t mean you stop trying to solve the small ones, that’s a logical fallacy called ‘Tu quoque’
That will never happen. the only thing that our current government is into teaching kids, starting with Babies, is about being dragged, trans, getting your bits, chopped off, being a criminal and getting away with it, because there’s no jail time, taking advantage of the system, shall I go on?
Man screw that. We can hold people accountable but there must be consistency. In a country where robbers and violent thugs are released without bail, why should litter-ers be a concern? In fact, why should we care at all when India and China throw more trash in the ocean than the rest of the world combined, and have no intention of stopping??
@@ashd.6989 $20,000 still would play for someone to pick up trash for a good chunk of a year. I do think these kids should get hefty fines AND make them pick up trash also though.
It’s just a fine even for adults. You should be more focused on big sugar dumping their runoff in our rivers. Literal toxic waste, thousands upon thousands of gallons of it
It would be nice, but that seems a little hard to prove. There was likely a lot of underage drinking at the party including the driver of the boat. I'd like to know who provided the alcohol? It might have been the wealthy parents.
Those are some assumptions from a short news video. I didn't see any evidence that there was anything illegal present on that boat. The only illegal act visible in the video shows pollutants being dumped in federally protected waters. It amazes me how there are all these videos of law enforcement "being dirty", but they would likely be for sure if they ran solely on speculation. How about we let those that are the professionals determine the crime and the charges. Hopefully, those that want to throw the book at them, can be selected for the jury. I think that what these young people did was despicable. We have lived on the water, in FL, in the late 90s and early 00s. We were boaters and always brought in far more trash than we brought with us. We are back in FL again, when we go to the beach we always pack a trash bag and take what we can from from the beach. While I see this video, and it infuriates me, I look at it with reality, not fueled emotion. I believe they said a "Class 3 Felony" and those that committed the crime were minors. Don't expect much much from the legal system. The biggest punishment is the public shaming they are getting on SM. I still see people throw trash from their vehicle regularly. I watched, blatantly videoed, two young ladies (with a child), pull to the side of the city street, and empty all the trash from their car. I had video of them doing the act, the vehicle, and the tag. I called the police. I wrote a statement. I filed a complaint. I picked up the trash when the police were done on scene (dirty diapers and all), and I disposed of it. That was over a year ago. Haven't heard or read a thing. What these young people will did in Boca Inlet will likely fade away as quickly as it went viral. The litter problem remains. The part I find the most discouraging is the observation of how many young people protest for a better global climate, while I see their peers destroying what we have tried to clean up for them. I know that it's "only a few", but it's like a cancer, IMO.
@@morningsidedriverock What's weird... a boat full of teenagers and alcohol and no adults on board. Who said anything about charging parents? The trash cans didn't fill up with bottles and cans by themselves.
Thanks to WAVY BOATS for posting this video....How many years have these brats been dumping trash and getting away with it? Make them pay and put them in jail. Great job fish and game.
If parents can get arrested for truancy of their school aged children…shouldn’t they also be charged for this behavior as well…It should be a huge fine, some jail time, and then probation for all of them: cleaning up beaches and highways and public parks! If The Attorney General, lets them off…you know who needs to be kicked out of office.
You're out of your mind lady. Parents should not be held responsible for one act of idiocy. No one would ever have kids if that were the case. All kids do dumb sht.
This is entirely different. This could only be prevented by the perfect raising of children over 15 years. Like, legendary model parents. You couldn't have prevented this. This is mostly just teenage behavior gone wrong. These kids are learning adult behavior early, the hard way
@@farmerfootball27 A minor with a learners permit needs parental supervision. Parents who allow their minor children access firearms and that kid uses it in a mass killing are FINALLY being charged and jailed for what their child has done. This IS the same thing. You are responsible for your children's behavior until their 18th birthday and should be punished for their crimes.
@@drk321 I completely agree with you!!! Apparently, Farmer, doesn’t like the implications…and I know…it sucks, but, the facts are the facts, and no excuses when your children go batshit crazy and think they can get away with it because their parents either don’t care, or will pay their way out of it! We all know these kids…and they suck…they are bullies, they are mean, and they do not give a damn about others! Regarding parents finally being held accountable…they were so smug about the charges.
Just cause they put those Charges on them, doesn't mean they will stick. Come on, their Parents have $ and they'll get off easy or not face nothing. We all seen this before, it's nothing new.
Yeah but if they would have done like the corporations and hire someone else to take care of it, and then that person dumped it in the ocean, then just like the corporations, they too would be off the hook.
Look how beautiful that water is! Why would you want to ruin it like that?? What sense does that make? They really couldn't wait until they got back to land?????
Poor kids in the hood don't care about their actions either. Bad behavior is not a rich or poor thing. It's a result of bad parenting and the overall moral rot that has occurred in society.
The highways and beaches used to be covered in trash from people throwing it out their windows, so clearly it is kids these days. Further I am almost certain they were trying to get rid of evidence of underage drinking not simply littering to litter, not that it makes much of a difference in the end.
This is the generation that grew up watching the President of the United States bragging about sexually assaulting women and making fun of disabled reporters etc. Expect more of this
I hate to tell you, but what do you think all those commercial fishermen do with all their trash and all their cigarette butts? They dump it into the ocean. It's disgusting! And officials that observe that, do fine them but they still keep doing it because the fines aren't that steep. When they're out to sea for days or weeks at a time, do you think they want to keep that trash on the boat with them? Heck no! So all their nastiness, their waste, their cigarette butts, everything goes overboard!
All of the heated up idiots in the comments like you act as if these teens deserve to be locked up for crazy amounts of time for littering lmao. You’re demanding that they be punished more harshly than child predators and rapists? You’ve probably committed a crime at some point in your life, if littering equates to life in prison then you deserve at least 1 year in prison. Set aside your useless emotions and use logic. Community service cleaning beaches and a few thousand dollars in fines seem to fit the crime
So you’re saying they deserve to be punished more harshly than child predators and rapists? You’ve probably committed a crime at some point in your life, if littering equates to life in prison then you deserve at least 1 year in prison. Serious lack of self-awareness, even if you’re exaggerating.
I live in Brooklyn NY..I see people walk past trash baskets and casually toss trash straight onto the ground...blows me away....stupidity is truly everywhere
I would bet money on the fact that those parents are just pissed that their kids got caught and are making them look bad - and going to COST them big bucks! BECAUSE, if they had integrity, they could have appeared and used this as “a teachable moment”. But, no…. as the saying goes, ‘the apples don’t fall far from the tree’.
Penalty: You shall both pick trash along the coastline until you reach 1.000 kg. I`ve seen wildlife full of trash in their stomach, dying in a horrible way. Its sad!
I'm fine with them having to pick up trash but you're not going to deal with the problem of pollution this way. You can spend all day picking up trash but if you're not dealing with the fact that there is mountains more stuff being produced everyday with no plan as to what to do with it after it is finished with , it's like using a bucket of water to try to put out a forest fire.
