Comparison and evolution graphics of the characters in Tekken 6 and Tekken 7 (side by side) All the game captures, editing, thumbnail were done by me. Backgorund music: Tekken 7 - Jungle Outpost 2
@@adeebh1238 because all the female characters are young and look young. Why can’t they make the Williams look their age? I think they can make them look mature yet good looking too.
My favourite character. And I think her transition from the previous game is one of the best. Both her and her new default costume look amazing and more mature. She even looks more oriental.
In Tekken 6 each character had their own face and their own features, in Tekken 7 the faces look a little too similar and they are too smooth, Paul is almost 50 years old and there is better skin treatment in Tekken 6
It's so weird seeing just how much better the LAST GEN models, textures, and lighting were in Tekken 6. Each character had facial features instead of generic smooth faces. I know Namco was on a shoestring budget with T7 but damn they shoulda just ported over the models and touched them up a bit rather than removing their personality
Tekken 6 definitely feels more nostalgic and true to the Tekken cutscenes we grew up seeing on Playstation wishing the gameplay graphics could look that good. Tekken 6 is the epitomy of that and gameplay wise feels the way a Tekken game should based on prior iterations. Tekken 7 as much as it's graphically superior to Tekken 6, feels more cartoon like and stiff in it's gameplay. It often feels a bit more like a Street Fighter game than a Tekken game (Tekken being more fluid martial art style fighting games and Street Fighter being stiffer and more arcade like in nature, despite both being Arcade fighters). I feel like Street Fighter x Tekken left a mark on the Tekken franchise for the worse. I enjoyed all the Tekken games (even and maybe especially TTT2), but after playing T7, I even questioned whether I liked Tekken games anymore. But going back to Tekken 6 I can tell I still really like Tekken games, it's just Tekken 7 that I'm not that crazy about. I thought I'd feel differently about T7 after finishing storymode again but nothing changed. Shadowing, lighing and texure variation are also better detailed in Tekken 6 which made me have bigger expectations for Tekken 7 graphically on 8th gen consoles. It's strange because T7 ticks all the boxes for what makes a great fighting game and has tons of content and some awesome fan service. It on paper should be the best Tekken game of all time and yet because of the aspects of what Tekken has been that it strips away to add other elements from other fighiting games...it's not the best Tekken and a bit of a disappointment for me personally. Still a good fighting game though. I just find it usually uninstalled on my HDD in favour of T6.
I miss tekken force in both t4 and t6 it's fun if you don't want to fight online considering the money that they have now why won't they add it, most people who played older tekken games will grab t8 if it has it
How is tekken 7 gameplay stiff? Do you even play the game? And if you think that T7 feels more like a street fighter, i think you're just seeing the gameplay of akuma.
I really like how Tekken 7 handled Xiaoyu's appearance. At first I was like, why did theh change her hairstyle. Then went to reading some things on the internet and found out that it's to make her look mature, and it really did. Then they put out her new costume and I was just cheering with delight! She's really all grown up now, her new appearance is a welcome change.
Can I be brutally honest. I think majority of the designs from Tekken 6 look so much better than the redesigns (they look pretty boring compared to past games) they got from Tekken 7. Hopefully Tekken 8 brings those old looks back (and customization).
Tekken 6 is way better than the 7, better lights, better characters' looks, etc... The only thing that wins in Tekken 7 is the next-gen graphic, but if every character has to lose the peculiarities that makes them unique, I prefer the old Tekkens
I didn't like the way Lee looked in Tekken 6, but his hair was nice. TTT2 Lee is my favorite design so far. Tekken 7 Lee is a mix of good, and weird for me.
Tekken 6 had more realistic face models than tekken 7, but tekken 7 added more finger movement to most of the idle stances, and tekken 7 also has better lighting.
This makes me hype for Tekken 8 knowing that it won't be made with a tight budget like Tekken 7 was. The character models are gonna be insane for Tekken 8
Tekken 6 has better attention to detail and better in certain lighting areas but Tekken 7 just looks better overall The Mishimas, especially, all had a huge glow up like damn Kazuya and Lee look the way they should + Heihachi's (old man) model finally doesn't look weird
Also weird how folks say that T6 has more "realistic" faces when outside of T7's faces being a bit too pretty for anyone to achieve, T6's faces look somewhat a bit more "cartoony" in a lot of aspects, even
@@Lexicon865 Because its true that Tekken 6 has more realistic faces since the character models are made to look like a cosplayer and the dim lighting complements it well too. Tekken 7 is more cartoonish because the lighting is too shiny and bright and their faces look like straight from an anime.
@@user-yq3bv9rf9b Idk, Tekken 6's models and faces look more cartoony than T7's. T7's faces are maybe "unrealistically pretty" but not by any means more cartoony or anime.
@@Lexicon865 Try looking at it more closely and compare tekken 6 models to cosplayers and tekken 7 models with anime fan art and you will definitely see what im talking about.
I honestly think 6 looks better for the most part. From the neck up, T6 is almost always superior. T7's hair looks fake as hell, and some of the faces look too "anime" compared to T6's more natural faces. Look at 2:20 for reference, and also 3:17. Come on, T7 Kazuya's "hair" looks like Double D's hat from Ed, Edd N Eddy! From the neck down, of course T7 has better textures and polygon count, but the lighting looks more natural in T6. Look at 5:50 for reference. So basically, T6 is more natural/realistic whereas T7 is more cinematic. Also, the proportions are more realistic in T6. Again, compare Kazuya in 3:17. Look at T7 Kazuya's shoulders compared to T6.
Thanks a ton for uploading this. I was thinking to ask for it. Also, please do Tekken tag tournament 2 and Tekken 7 character models comparison. Tekken is one of my favorite franchise. EDIT: You could have compared Tekken 6 alternate outfits with the new ones received in Tekken 7 fated retribution, just like you did with Jin. For example, Tekken 6 Nina's leather jacket and long pants with the 7's bride outfit, and 6's Nina 1 player with 7's regular style. Also, you should have shown their winposes.
Thank you for watching and I'm glad you liked the video :). I thought about comparing the alternative costumes but the video would have been very long, in some models I used them because in their default costumes the differences were not very well appreciated or because I had the option to compare the old costumes. Tekken tag tournament 2 and Tekken 7 character models comparison is a good idea, I'll keep it in mind for a future video :).
Some of the characters' faces of Tekken 6 looked creepy, provided with the graphics and the lighting. It looks like all the characters in Tekken 6 were giving a evil smirk/smile.
@@crisalcantara7671 Yeah... some of them has small eyes, e.g. Heihachi. And some looked creepy right away, like Dragunov and Marduk (his exposed teeth). And most of them looked evil, especially the male characters.
Jin's face in T5 and T6 looks weird cause it doesn't match with cutscenes and pictures. In Tekken Tag Tournament 2 they came back to original appropriate looks.
honestly Julia doesn't even look like Julia in Tekken 7 her face is different. edit a major thing I noticed is the Hair, Tekken 6 for most characters handles hair a LOT better mostly because Tekken 7 seemingly doesn't use transparency effects on the hair, for Lili the transparency effects look weird on her hair.
I still like the improvements in models on 7 but that lighting in previous games is still better. If they decide to use Unreal 5 for T8, I'm sure they'll nail the lighting.
Tekken 7 looks better but in a more animated way. Tekken 6 kazuya for example has a much more realistic face and looks better but tekken 7 has more and better overall improvements like lighting and smaller shown details.
@@peko-chan1764 Yes! Let the characters age up ffs. Is there a reason Tekkens 4 to 7 all had to take place in the same year, other than to just keep some characters from graduating high school and moving on with their lives already?
While T7 looks better you can see that the visual upgrades are very minor for next gen. Either Tekken 6 was well made or T7 was poorly made. I think T6 could have looked better considering how nice MGS4 looked like on PS3. It almost looks comparable to T7 in detail.
@@iloveutub1000 Considering Tekken 7 was a huge success there's no doubt that Namco will not give Tekken 8 a high budget. Judging from the teaser it looks like it will use Unreal Engine 5
Definitely, only few characters looks better in tekken 7, the majority of it is better, for me, in tekken 6.more realistic and serious. In tekken 7, only the lightning is better, but characters looks more ''manga''...
I loved the fact they made the Hairstyles a little more Cartoonish and doesnt look realistic like Tekken 6 It just gives that a little atmosphere of classic Tekken.
Man. T7 Looks great. But I'm more impressed with how well T6 Holds up. I'd love to see a Comparison of TTT2 to T7. I love the overall look of the whole series.
Better texture work on T7 and the fur for the bears are better than ever. However, the missing shadows and some minor details missing here and there are kind of noticeable. Sure there are some reflections that are a little more refined in T7 but I think T6 got it down rather well. It's no wonder why some people prefer older builds of T7 and some may go as far to say Tag 2 was aesthetically and graphically the best (ignoring the sub-720p resolutions for both T6 and Tag 2), and that game was a step up from T6
thats what im saying! they looked natural and human! making them individual and unique! now they're all barbiefied and plastic looking with "perfect" faces. like they're fighters not models. unless their back story lore consists of them being narcissistic like vega who values his face and beauty more than anyone else lol. Then i would allow them to look plastic ish, but then SFV made everyone look so ugly , like clay XD poor vega and ken had it bad ;o; lol
The lighting is way more in T7. In T6, just look at how the lighting to from the top down. In T7, it looks like each character has 3 point lighting attached to them. It's a trick game devs use when lighting is an issue for a game.
I always knew Tekken6 is still the best, especeally in the all graphic design. Tekken6 offered more attention to all details and character's expressions which was more logic to realize their origins, also each character had its own clothing style which that made them even more unique. Tekken6 will be always forever my favorite Tekken game
OMG!! I agree with you 100%! Finally some who shares the same opinion with me Tekken 6 has way better designs, more unique and invidual the characters looked so much better than in Tekken 7. Well said! ^^ But for me it's Xiaoyu she looked amazing Tekken 6 I want her face back in Tekken 8, her Tekken 7 face is disappoints me ;-;
@@senyuki2185 I'm so glad that I'm not the only one. ^^ Tekken6 graphics really needs to return in Tekken8. Same way I feel about Lee my main as I mentioned. In Tekken7 all characters are looking the same at their bodies and faces, unrecognisable. ;;-;;
Look closely then you notice that Julia's and Anna's feet are glitching in Tekken 7 but Julia and some other girls actually improved in Tekken 7. Julia looks very nice with her freckles but Tekken 6 has nicer looking graphics
I noticed that leg glitch with all the thicker/curvier girls in tekken 7 (Zafina, Anna, Julia and Eliza). They clearly share the exact same body type there which is why the glitch happens to them only.
Nice! Excellent vid! 7 definitely has the softer lighting, but stylistic I kind of preferred 6. Face wise, everyone in 6 looked a bit grittier and in 7 they got all glammed up. Perhaps it was the harsher lighting? How about TT2 comparison?
Some looked better in T6 and some did in T7. I think in T6 they wanted to age the Williams sisters to make them look like in their 40s and it worked. They looked mature, now they look young again😒
Lili looks horrendous in Tekken 7. I love her glow up in Tekken 8. In fact everyone gets a nice glow-up in Tekken 8. Tekken 7 may have improved the models, but the fact is their inexperience shows on how terrible the lighting and graphics are in T7 compared to 6 and Tekken Tag 2
Tekken 7 has some better effects like lightning and also some details in stances (finger movement) but models look better in previous games (Anna, Zafina, Ganryu and Julia looks better in 7). Also proportions went in the wrong way in T7, like Marduk has giantic upper body and tiny legs, looks like Quest from World of Quest. All male characters are more meaty and muscular and I think they need to tone down that in the next game. A lot of female characters have doll-like faces and 0 muscules, this also needs to be changed in the next game. Good video btw.
Asuka in Tekken 6 looks very beautiful and is the most beautiful character in the game for me to be honest, it feels like a mixture of European and Asian race, it does not look like Japanese at all
That moment when you realize that Jin still has both his Tekken 6 1P & 2P costumes in Tekken 7. Paul, Lili, Leo, Bryan Hwoarang and Steve do too. Edit: Tekken 6 looked better.
and yet people wonder why hworang hair is black, that's because it's his natural hair color, koreans chinese japanese they all have black hair, hworang just dyed his hair orange since the old tekken and we didn't know it because we were young.
@@shenelljohnson74 hm why dont just make them unlockable like the old school tekken? I mean its sound stupid to unlock Lei as him always be the default fighter selection tho
@@Gigzause your thinking about casual fan's back in the day but pro, veterans, and hardcore player's in general don't find that amusing anymore it was good when your at home but now stuff like Tekken force, boss battle, team battle, survival isn't play like that what I'm trying to say is what's the point adding this character or mode in if nobody else uses it why waste your time on content that nobody or few or asking for it they just want to play not grind and waste time on unlocking thing's when YOU the fan demands it now because you spend your hard earn money for a product to enjoy
