Comparison and evolution graphics of the characters in Tekken Tag Tournament 2 - Tekken 7 - Tekken 8 - Side by Side - [4K-60FPS] All the game captures, editing, thumbnail were done by me.
I need to say I'm very impressed with the work the Tekken Team did with TTT2. It's true T8 is the best w/o doubt, but I think T7 has worse facial expressions than TTT2; the job done in TTT2 was incredible.
TTT2 had nice textures on the hair and all, but tekken 7 did so much worse and they all had spaghetti hair, now they figured how to make it smooth again, actual expressions and faces, also nice looking textures are back
@@2inla Forest has only been playable in T3 and both Tag Tournaments. People speculated that he might've been returning for T6, because Marshall had a moustache since T3, and it was gone in T6, but it was still an overhauled Marshall. Also, like mentioned earlier, both trailer and game announcers for T8 explicitly say Marshall Law.
Tekken 6 and Tag Tournament 2 are one hell of a looker. I'm sad they never get the credit they deserve. Especially 6, which is one of my all time favorites.
@@crystalalumina My man, I'm playing Tekken 6 right now on RPCS3 (it runs almost perfectly!) and, trust me, at 1080p and higher, it looks GORGEOUS and a little better than TTT2 (especially stages). Give it a try if you have the chance!
JUSTICE FOR TEKKEN 6 I remember comparing the art book to the actual models. I remember Nina looking so manly, but I still enjoyed that they put effort into all the faces to make them look like different individuals, something Tekken 7 missed COMPLETELY Alisa and Asuka's faces in 7 were exchangeable. Copy paste
@@trafikantes4204The female characters are still very much detailed. The reason why they look worse than the male characters is because of the fact that the men have huge muscles with basically fatless muscle definition, while the woman only really have flawless skin and body shapes. In hindsight, it's basically a cause of beaty standards.
Tag 2 still has the best facial expressions and eye movements. Really well put together vid, especially at 12:20 with the announces announcing all the Jacks.
They weren't cooking shit on the graphics department cause tt2 weren't cookin in the sale no. Almost got the whole franchise shut down and so t7 was basically there last chance to revive plus with a new engine they never used and a very tight budget compare to tt2 with it's engine and the highest budget of the franchise
@@maejuse7601 Which is interesting and sad at the same time, because tt2 has far more soul, you could feel the creators love, the so many characters, interactions, unic items... I wish they would release it on PC, it would make wonder with the sales..
You're really saying this when TT2 characters look like playdough? T7 looked great when it came out and you're all just falling for recency bias. It was the best looking fighter of the 10's period.
If Newer technology offers better graphic then to be fair everyone of them stand out by themselves Bro. They're the representing Graphic and technology at that time. But this is great comparison Yodo Dodo❤❤❤
Random Details/Things I noticed: Jin - His expression in 7 is like ''whatever'', but he seems focused and a bit angry in Tag 2 and 8. Kazuya - His left face scar got a subtle change, he have more visible wrinkles now. Alisa - She seems to me shorter in Tekken 7, Her facial features in Tekken 7 and Tag 2 are quite different, but in Tekken 8 they got blended. Asuka - Her hair actually had a slight change, like Anna in Tekken 7. Paul - His hair looks a bit higher in Tekken 7, And his face is overall better in Tekken 8. Hwoarang - He looks like a different character in the 3 games... His eyes are closer to his nose in Tag 2 and went apart as the next installment arrived. His nose also got thin in Tekken 8. Law - His model seems to be the exact same from Tag 2 to 7 just to be a whole new model in Tekken 8. Also, his facial scar in Tekken 7 was removed. And his chest scar was moved from right to center. Nina - She also seems shorter in Tekken 7, her idle stance got updated in Tekken 8, and her face in Tekken 8 looks closer to her Tag 2 model. Zafina - She's fairly similar in both games. Xiaoyu - She got taller over the years. Her eyes also went bigger over time and her face is sharper now. Subtle way of saying she's growing up. Lili - Her chin and jaw were modified in Tekken 8 to fit her nose better, seems like they wanted her to have a long nose. Her eyes also changed. King - He seems to be ''Whiter'' in Tekken 8, could be a lightning effect. Bryan - He seems to have a more curved posture in Tekken 8. His old left scar from Tag2/7 is replaced with a new one in Tekken 8. Lars - Could be the outfit but his posture seems a bit more erect now. And as most of Tekken 8 models, his face is a bit longer to fit his facial features. And they also fixed his thin eyebrows from Tekken 7. Steve - He is paler in Tekken 8. Also, his model from Tekken 8 seems closer to his Tag 2 model. And he's smiling in TK7 for some reason while angry in Tag 2/8. Yoshimitsu - A new armor as always. Panda/Kuma - The eyes and fur got better over the years. Jack - Personal opinion... He got uglier by each game, but the textures were improving over time. Lee - He seems to be shorter in Tekken 7, His face in Tekken 8 seems to be closer to his Tekken 7 model. Leo - She seems to be taller in Tekken 7, Similar haircuts and the eyes went bigger over time. Dragunov - Fairly similar overall, but his eyes seems a bit closer to his nose in Tekken 8. Feng - Fairly similar in all games, but he also looks a bit less muscular in Tekken 7. Devil Jin - His Tekken 7 model seems a bit soft in comparison. And he feels more scary in Tekken 8. Jun - Her mouth have a different shape from Tag 2. And her eyes are wider in Tekken 8. Raven - He's taller in Tekken 8. And his jaw seems fuller in Tekken 8 as well. Leroy - Fairly similar. Claudio - They fixed his eye and nose shapes in Tekken 8. Also, he looks skinnier in Tekken 8 while VERY muscular in Tekken 7. Shaheen - He feels taller in Tekken 8. And his face looks fairly similar in both games.
@@kolyasmirno9116 Is probably a temporary eye patch. I believe he just had an injury and it's fine now. But if you have a headcanon where his eye is lost, he got a new eyepatch.
The ps3-4-5 comparison also helps to highlight the differences of graphics direction in the series through that time. The most interesting part to me is the muscles. In T8 the devs apparently decided to use the new tech to flex their 3d abilities by making the guys look more ripped than before. But the way i see it, the difference is bigger than a mere natural graphics progression between generations. Its seems to be a real 3d art style difference.
I liked the idea of triple comparison using Tag 2 for the ps3 representative, since i get the feeling that most people facing the situation would pick T6 because its the mainline game... but the fact is that Tag 2 is the updated ps3 release. Also i was really curious to see the claims about Tag 2's great graphics put to the test in this way. Like, i can see the quality of course, but an actual comparison video obviously works the best (if its well edited and with good capture).
i like how dragunov looked in TTT2 but tekken 8 did amazing, we dont talk about tekken 7 because i hate everything LMAO, graphics were ugly looking on every single character
I’m glad the Tekken Team figured out how to use the Unreal Engine fully! Tekken 7 looks like a transitional period from TTT2 in house engine to Tekken 8 use of Unreal Engine 5
Personally, I think Nina's TTT2 iteration is the best. With every new game she looks younger and younger. More like a Barbie doll instead of a grown-ass woman
Goddamn, the massive leap between each one is crazy. Not just the characters, but look at the textures, lighting and stage. The explosion of detail is crazy. Tekken Tag 2 looks nice, but it is clearly showing its age. And Tekken 7 is not holding up as well as I thought it would going into this video. Hell, T7 has some crusty looking design decisions for the faces compared to TT2 and 8.
My favorite character appeared Alisa (T7)jin(T7)Asuka(T8)Paul(T7)Hworang(T8)Law(T8)Nina(T8)Zafina(T7)Xiaoyu(T8)Lili(T8)King(T7)Bryan(T8)Lars(T8)Stve(T7)Yoshimitsu(T8)Panda(T8)Kuma(T8)Jack(T8)Lee(T7)Leo(T8)Draganov(T8)Feng(T8)Devil Jin(T8)Jun(T8)Raven(T8)Leroy(T7)Cladio(T8)
Almost everyone got broken necks... I know they twist and turn so you got a better view of the model while you're playing from the POV of the player, but is crazy to see Brian's for example and how uncomfortable that stance seems in 7
The surprising decadence of hair graphics quality in T7 is something that really stands out in comparisons. I dont know how these things work, and dont know much of the "behind the scenes" of these games... can that result be explained just by the low budget of the development? Or a possible (but pretty likely) inexperience with the engine could be also related?
Tag 2 sold so poorly it hurt the budget of 7. Tekken 7 also had an engine swap from their in house engine to unreal 4. So the low budget and new engine were hard on the team. Tekken 7 sold the best the series has in almost 20 years so 8 had a nice big budget to get the series rolling again. It's excepted to be worked on for 10 years similar to how tekken 7
Asuka, Xiao and Lili look great in 8 especially compared to 7 though I still prefer TTT2. Jun looks not good to me in 8. At least straight on. Everyone’s face looks weird to me from the front like they get a weird flat waxy look to them in 8. If you see it from an angle where the details of her nose and stuff are visible she looks fine. Nina’s hair kills her design in 8 for me
I want some more classic outfits or at least reimaginings like Jin and Kazuya got. Nina could use an actual assassin outfit like she usually has as well as her signature ponytail back. Asuka I’d like her blue jumpsuit back. I’d like Law’s white Kung Fu outfit back. Hwoarang’s full biker outfit to go with the hair and goggles they gave. Xiaoyu’s old T4-6 hair. Kazuya’s classic tuxedo. There’s lots they could do.
I still want them to add Ninas old hairstyle and blue/velvet assassin suit from Tekken 5 in character customization of Tekken 8. And all Yoshimitsu suits from the all Tekken series...
I love how some characters look exactly the same, but then their design has small but drastic changes. Like The shape of Law’s head or the Eye placement of Lili
I've always known Tekken tag 2 was graphically superior to T7. Even T6 could contest T7 in certain character models. T6 should also be included in the comparison. T6 has a lot more distinctive cultural features for the characters and was captured more accurately. T8 has of course become the Goat for graphics and gameplay now but this is 2024 vs 2011. Tag 2 was a phenomenal achievement. Unfortunately it came out at the end of a console era and wasn't quickly unsupported by the developers due to poor sales. Nothing a balance patch couldn't have fixed.
It seems Tekken 8 animations based on TTT2's which is already good and polished them out. I don't know about Tekken 7 skeleton structure but it seems the neck and head vertical point were merge with the body. Which make the head tilted altho not that much Also Look at Kuma and Panda fur after Bandai Namco groom them in T8 Feels neatly fl00f
From T7 to T8, it's a improvement (especially if you play the game "live", the youtube streaming quality does not make it justice), but it's not a "leap" or anything. I did noticed how the female character now have different faces, I guess this is more a art direction thing than actual graphics. And it's cool, the lame robot waifu's face looks way different if compared to Asuka for example, and so on, the females all have distinctive faces. The male characters had more variety even in early Tekken games, but again, they are even more distinct in T8. All of them shares the same body model tho, the same "skeleton" so to speak
I think this shows how the characters who were added to tekken 7 after season 2 just had so much more care and budget put into the modeling, zafina really does look like a natural progression from tag 2 to T8 unlike Kazuya who went through 7.0....
