Thank you for the support everyone! I'm happy that this is helpful to so many players :) sidenote: throughout all the changes from season 1 to season 3 this tutorial still covers everything you need to know to play hwoarang. I recommend that you check out season 2 and season 3 changes. And if you have any questions or feedback for me, I highly appreciate it! :) Season 2: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YyTzHf2Vxdg.html Season 3: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-S6qLL-dGtMg.html
Quick question, I've been practicing the RFF f3 to hunting hawk ender. Is there a trick for the f3? I'm having a hard time figuring it out. I play on stick.
@@basuka93 gotcha. I'm just having trouble as I'm not quick enough. I'm gonna try and combine the dash with a f 3+4 and go for that. But yes as a combo ender. Thanks.
This is by far the best hwo guide out there, you covered everything man from setups to stances. No one goes this in depth, even Blasted Salami doesn't give this level of quality information, cuz this is an all levels guide not just a beginner guide. So for someone like me who can already do his combos and knows the basics this is much more helpful.
Thank you so much man! Really means a lot 💪 my goal with this was to do a tutorial that I would've needed back when I learned hwoarang cause I struggled really hard.
@@basuka93 when I started this game I tried to main Hwo, about a year and a half ago(my fundamentals were so weak that I had to drop him), and during that time you were so incredibly helpful, I have never forgotten that. You and Sinful Pants the heihachi player are some of the nicest character loyalists I've ever met. Now I'm back with much more solid fundamentals to master him lol. I can't even believe some of the strings I used to do and wonder why it wasn't working lol. And now I also have a super solid wavedash and backdash which makes all the difference with Hwo.
kinda sad seeing this being so underrated, but at least 22k people got with it! im really grateful for this and it's such a convenient video! thanks for the upload
Sorry for this super late response 😅 and thank you so much for your feedback, means a lot to me! It was my goal to make a tutorial for hwoarang that I would've needed when I started to learn the character. Glad when it helps others ☺
@@basuka93 This definitely helped as I just picked up Hwo for a good month. It is your videos who really polishes my hwo performance. :) Keep up the great work. ❤️
Kudos to you. I've been thinking of trying to learn Hwoarang and have been avoiding him cause of how intimidating he is. He's different from other stance characters where its easy to tell at a glance what others do versus Hwoarang where some of the mechanics change depending on his stances. Definitely the type of guide I've been looking for. It's gonna take me a while to process all of this but I now have a guide I can follow. Thanks mate.
Great guide. Though I've only made it halfway through so far. Here's a few hopefully helpful comments (I don't means any to be harsh): @6:40 RFF d/b3 - if you complete the string d/b 3,3 the follow up high is usually duckable but it is guaranteed when the low is a CH - this is shown later in the CH combo section. @6:44 RFF d4 - this is a stun on CH but i don't think you can get much from it, is there? LFS 1 starts up in 13 not 16 frames (at 4:55) RFS 2 starts up in 13 not 10 frames (in 4 moves from 7:20)
@@basuka93 No problem, what software do you use? I only noticed because I was taking a few notes and I'm pretty sure RFS 2 and LFS 1 have the exact same properties since they are mirrors of the same thing. Similarly RFS 1 and LFS 2 are mirrors and have same properties as each other too. Finished the video, awesome stuff. Maybe you already did this in another video but a get-up 3 combo section would be nice. I don't think Hwo's grounded 3 game is great but i know a few combos: grounded 3 CH, u/b33, d/f3f, d34, b4. grounded 3 CH, 4, 124, b4, d34 b4. grounded 3 CH, 4, d/b44, ff4, 3. Something like that.
@@PatrickStewartNI sorry for answering this late.. I use magix and one of the newest systems but I'm still trying to get better at it.. Thanks for noticing, I'll do that... u can get more damage from grounded ch 3, I'll test it :) Thank you very much for taking your time to view my content, really means a lot!
Is this guide's written form anywhere we can find it? like Tekken Zaibatsu or something? Also, you might want to get in touch with the people at "That Blasted Salami" they don't have a Hwoarang in-depth guide as far as I know and maybe they could feature your content so it gets more exposure. I've read somewhere that they've done things like this for other characters like Pepperbeef2spicy's guide for Season 1 Leo.
i play steve fox but i just watch your videos because i love how in depth you go with a character. Especially the wall stuff i never see emphasis even though that is where you can really mentally break a person with pressure
Thank you for the compliment, and cool that you enjoy the vids :) you're right, and I feel like there is stil so much more to experiment with at the wall ^^
iv been maining Hwoarang since the beginning and he is definitely not an easy character to play. I still have trouble using him today, but man when you can get a string going, and you get into the groove, watch the opponents life bar go bye bye. So satisfying throwing your opponent off and watching them open themselves up to punishes. His rush downs are really strong if you can get them into a wall, then its pretty much free at that point.
@@basuka93 this video is awesome. I really just want more control with stances instead of the "general" knowledge I have about them. Hopefully I'll be a pro after studying a bit on this. I love how expressive and technical this character is.
I check this vídeo when i start with hwoarang, now after 4000 games with hwoarang i see the entire video again and I just can say that is best guide I found, ty for the content!
Incredible guide! Hwoarang is top 5 hardest in the game period. Question...I watched a Knee stream like 4 days ago where he played a little Hwoarang, he did a JFSR, into Backlash, into Backlash, into ff4, 3, 4, b4....I tried it and can't get the peacekeeper to connect XD. Have you ever seen/done this combo?
Thank you very much:) I think the same, he is tough to learn ^^ I saw that same stream too, the double backlash into ff4 demand strict Timing and of course you gotta be very quick the ff4 input. I don't think it's worth it like with many difficult combos when the "dmg reward" isn't that high.
@@basuka93 Oh! Well thanks for telling it's not worth it... because I certainly have trouble doing it. I'll probably just stick with the df/3+4 ender for around 73-80 damage (depending on the whole combo you use). Thanks ago so much for this incredible guide! PS. One of your older videos (the one where it's you and 2 other Hwo players from about a year ago) is still my favorite set til this day. 😁
@@xbm7931 thank you for the feedback and the support! :) I'm happy to get a response on my videos, so I can change my content up to the requested things. His damage output is high enough and depending on the combo you have different to options to maximize the damage. Jfsr backlash, rff f+3,2 f+3, u/f 3,4,3 or after the screw the u+3 version are staples imo :) Those are two of the best hwoarang players that I know, maybe I can upload more like that in the future :)
@@markdomin3537 Just look up his RU-vid channel... should be posted about 2-3 weeks ago, Hwoarang is in the thumbnail. Skip through the video and the first Hwoarang match against Asuka should be the one. ☺
as a well seasoned hwoarang player i have to say all your pros and cons mentioned are correct. but u missed one point, hwoarang has no simple mid low hits, you will have to do a rff_d/f+4>f to rflm>d+4....... for the only mid>low combo/starter he has. correct me if i am wrong
As for a simple mid I’d like to say df1 and df1+2 , f2 and df4 is Crazy Good. There is no need for a mid low since he has d34 which is natural combo and gives u insane pressure
Thank god there's a Hwoarang guide😥 because I became a Hwoarang player since 2019 and still.. I can't play him perfectly. So I scroll lots of Hwoarang guides in RU-vid and I found this in 2020. Finally I get to understand more about his key. I'm just a beginner..😭😭 Oh and I just saw a Left right Food and that just confuses me😵 until I also accidently typed left Food, right Food. By the way thank you for the guide though👍👍
Hey, nice tutorial! I main hwoarang, but my main problem is that the combos which require to switch into right foot forward stance then forward three. It's really difficult for me and If you have any tips please help me out. BTW I use ps4 pad
hey basuka im maining hwo (or trying to after almost 2 years of steve maining), your tutorial is good, i'd like to ask you more instructive material as a fan of the channel but im not sure you're into it, more like into shorts with crazy ass setups i would say right?
Hey Basuka, Thanks for this guide. Quick question, what is the notation you are using for inputs? I come from a SF/ Anime fighter background and I don't understand it. Is it specific to Tekken? How do I parse it?
I think that you need to do new guide.. This guide is for low ranks only. I want to try Hwo. Im TG, and everybody higher than yellow know - low and high pokes isnt a pressure and bad idea, cause “duck” blocking both of this, and you’ll be launch (wr moves/ low block/ low parry). Mid hits is a very important part of all mixup/pressure gameplan. I think after 2 years of gaming on Hwo your gameskill is much higher, so im waiting for a new guide. But yours inputs and setups is awesome. Thx for guide! Ps no information about bu3,3 move and wallcombo input (only wallcarry/walltravel combos).
Hey thank you for your feedback! I did multiple new ones, I hope you'll find them helpful. Pressure guide, full wall carry guide, advanced jfsr technique and much more
@@basuka93 Ty for all of this mate! Im watching your channel right now. Very specifical information about Hwo. Reaaly interesting. But i cant find wallcombo input, lmao. Im talking about that last 4 kicks after wallspatting opponent. Looks like first kick is f,3, but all another kicks is smtng unreadble. And i cant find this minicombo in practice mode, lol. Looks like Hwo mains big secret )
@@klaustroff the wall combos would be after wall splat : 3+4 (RFF stance) f3, f3, 3,f4 OR sidestep 33, 3f, 3f4. But I also did a video on wall combos too
@@basuka93 hahah thank you for this info. Just trying practice my wallplay and needed to know ending. Hwo inputs is a really hard for new Hwo player.. i have 1500+ hours in Tekken 7 and i thinked that "naaaah that guy just mashing 3 and 4 and spammin”. I was wrong. Sorry Hwomainers. Btw now ill be one of yours spam sekta )
Hey man great work! I've been playing hwo for a while now, and i've heard you play on pad. How do you do run-up RFF F3, LFS UF 3+4,4 in a combo? I always get RFF FF3 even when i wait for neutral, i can only do it on short juggles, advance thanks for the reply, keep up the good work!
Hey thank you for watching! Where did u hear I play on pad? ^^ but yea I do play on pad... For the combo ender you do this: f,f n 3+4 And then f3 up344 ... but it depends on which combo you are doing
I've read from a comment from another on of your vids. I usually try it on hwo's B3 Bnb tho it's always inconsistent, it always amazes me when somebody can do it really fast, i know the trick how do it on stick(holding the 4 after RFF 3,4, Then pressing 3) tho can't translate that into pad do you use a 3+4 bind on your shoulder button?, sorry if this is somewhat long for something every hwo main should know how to do. anyways,Thanks again man for the time, more power to you! Can't wait for your thoughts on s3 hwo's changes
13:48 This combo bothers me. I don't know if it's me but this does not hit off axis. The 3,4 either whiffs completely or only 3 hits and 4 whiffs depending at what angle you started the combo. Also I did that same combo and mine does 59 dmg with 7 hits when I do it on axis. I think something changed since you made this combo ingame. I know your older video has the same combo so I presume something is changed. Thx for the new video with everything in one place.
thanks for the comment, yes that footage is older. this combo hits slightly off axis but u will mostly be linear to the opponent cause of the use of that move
@@basuka93 its not just the strings, the so many armor moves he has, and cancels into blocks, the plus frames into stance he has on block, and his moves recovers immediately.. its so difficult to punish on whiff..
