Think you got the moves? Let's dance. Eddy Gordo the Indomitable Flash is ready to do some legwork in #TEKKEN8 on April 5! Available in early access on April 2 01:00 CEST | 16:00 PDT (Apr. 1) for Playable Character Year 1 Pass holders.
Non-blacks just don't feel like looking at other styles when they make mediums. It was popular in one movie now every game has it but like .000001% of real black people actually have the style.
Its an incredible tribute to capoeira and actually is a throwback to his tekken tag tournament stage that they included both the stage and an actual roda in his rage art. I dont know why people are crying about him not having his own stage when its included in the rage art
@DatosVirales24 Outside of Kunimitsu, that never happened with any legacy character. The only characters that came with stages were Geese, Noctis, Negan, Fakh, Lidia and the aforementioned Kunimitsu. Anna, Lei, AK, Marduk, Julia, Ganryu and even newcomer Leroy came with no stage. At best, a different version of an old one.
Omg the berimbau at the beginning, the vingativa as his throw and the batería as his super along with speaking Portuguese the whole time. They did a great job incorporating more of the capoeira culture
I was blown away when i heard that theme play in the trailer. They never fail with picking the hypest legacy themes of each character. And it definitely triggered the nostalgia for sure 🥹 This boosts my confidence in the devs and franchise and company all together. And it was already high 😅
Still can't believe the announcer is the woman that announced intros for pro wrestling in Japan for Pride. She used to go crazy on the mic back in the day
@@quentinjones6877 Tekken 5 started it all. Bamco should by now reveal the lore behind the no language barrier thing. I'm sure each character might be wearing some sort of micro device that's invisible to the human eyes. Either that, or a secret requirement for anyone involved in the Mishima affairs, or joining the tournaments is to learn over 10-20 languages 😐.
As Brazilian and capoeira practicer, I can say his moves are amazing, he did a “giro de mão” and made combo with “armada de duas”. OMG I can’t wait to play with Eddy.
@@vaper8824there were more than 10x more enslaved Africans sent to Brazil than to the US, so he definitely has some African descent. Also he's a capo practitioner, and his ancestors are in his rage art. Capo was something created by his ancestors to fight for freedom. Hopefully the other guy can answer your question better, I'm a nerd but I'm not Brazilian.
But Eddy's best track was in Tekken 3. It would be better if they took this track for the trailer and processed it, that is, improved it. It would bring such nostalgia.
I'm Brazilian 🇧🇷, and I did several classes of Capoeira fight/dance (Eddy Gordo fight style) when I was Young, I even traveled to some regional championships with my classmates, but my level (waistband color) never grew very much because I had to study for college admission exams. Best years ever. I think I still know how to play the "Berimbau" (the instrument at the beginning of the video)
Seriously, replacing him with that random coffee lady was just stupid, and it's not like they didn't already tried that with Christie Monteiro too. I'm glad my boy is back.
They both were high ranking officers in the Tekken Force, back when they were working for Jin in Tekken 6. You know, when Jin started acting like a douche.
@@jatabo1574i want know eddy reaction after he find out nina no longer work to jin again, instead she works with kazuya, the man who she want to Assassinate
Localization to English has been horrid throughout Tekken8, no surprises there. You can clearly get they aren't saying what's written in the subtitles.
Fun fact about capoeira and his intro with Nina. Capoeira came about as a means for African Brazilian slaves to fight their slavers (mostly Portuguese), the reason they move like that is to become a harder target to hit by muskets while at the same time to gain momentum to kick hard enough to knock them out ASAP. So in a way, in that intro Eddy is doing exactly what the martial art was made to do.
Their rhythmic dancing stance accompanied by musical chants/singing were designed to hide the actual martial arts training that they engaged in so that the enemy (slave master) would not be able to detect what it is they were doing
Wow his ability to cut angles is insane. After watching a bunch of high level professional tekken matches, quickly sidestepping and then firing strikes down the pipe seems invaluable and eddy looks like he’s taking that to another level in T8
This made e extremely happy! As an Afro-Brazilian practitioner of capoeira myself eddy holds a special place in my heart! The ancestor being summoned for the roda style finisher chefs kiss!!!
Considering how bullshit and masher friendly this game is, no matter where in pro's tier list he will end, he has all the chances to be SSS tier char for online
Yea he is also one of those with the special tailspins inbetween combos. Launch, juggle, tailspin into tornado into heat burst into tailspin into more wall carry...
The Tekken Tag Tournament 1 theme remixed is so freaking good.Good to see the character that my cousin loved to use against me when we were kids back, more pain incoming.
My grandfather was born in Brazil. This was quite the treat. I'm really interested in exploring my Brazilian roots even more so now. Eddie looks great!
''Keep a Passionate Heart and a cool head'' This sentence came from Palmeiras's Coach Abel Ferreira who said that from your soccer players,He wrote a book with this title as well.
Going back and playing Tekken 3 for the 1st time, I liked how unique Eddy's fighting style and was curious about the arts of Capoeria. I am so happy he is brought back in for Tekken 8 (I know he was in 7 too). Welcome back Eddy.
@@user-vd9pf6pu3oshe's an annoying top tier and the devs gave her no personality, people simply don't like her design, dancing is one thing but capo is just a martial art, they don't rly compare
@@hassoncarmon5779 if you played the story mode it strongly implies all of that is just a cynical gimmick to market her brand, not her personality. Also coffee is not a personality. The most we get is that she's business savvy and has questionable morals.
Berimbau, precise and acrobatic Capoeira blows and speaking Portuguese. Brazil came very well represented!!! Congratulations to everyone involved, for such an iconic and loved character around the world.
You know when i stared hearing about "Killmonger hair" being in everything i thought people were being cringe and overdramatic but honestly they're on point, it's so overused. Like dude what the hell?
When we have non-black Devs making most games, they are going to lazily jump on trends instead of just updating the original black hairstyle. 20 years ago they did the same thing with giant Afros. Namco even did it with Tiger/Eddie’s alt skin.
Am i the only one who thinks that, although generic, that hairstyle fits eddy really well? I agree it looks out of place in many characters, but in my opinion he rocks the look
It just dreads. They existed before marvel started making movies. Eddy has had they for his entire fucking existence. What did you think he was gonna have? A big square flat top? This is so stupid. The dumbest thing to cry about.
@@felipecosta-kv2fx same i like classic eddie, but he looks good here too. Although i will agree that basic hairstyles for any race get old. Its like undercuts on white and asian people, like theres other hairstyles out there lol
U got a point tho since he's black but mainly Brazilian they fo rock they locks like that there but yea they needa switch it up for black/ black presenting characters 💯@@felipecosta-kv2fx
Eddy Gordo está insano! Eddy Gordo é brasileiro e o maior brasileiro dos jogos de luta! Até os ancestrais aparecem, que coisa linda. Obrigado Namco 🇧🇷💚💛
No this is a great hair style, you must like boring afro and low cut to be the norm, this is the black gen Z look for this era, it's great every era needs a hair style.
That is how black hair culture in the 90s almost every black guy had the fade and high top, in school almost every one had it it was the norm. Killmonger hair is the norm so you will see plenty in art.
