I emailed all dealers 100 miles from my area , asked for the best and final out the door quotes on the exact vehicle I was looking to purchase . Once I got the lowest from a couple dealers , I then sent the quote to a couple other dealers and asked them to beat it , before I walk in person for the test drive. Some dealers became flakey and unresponsive, others answered me back. The one with the lowest quote out the door price , that's who earned my business. It went pretty straight forward from there.

That sounds like the longest way to buy a car that takes so much effort. Most dealers give the same price but you’re always going to get the best deal on the show floor at my dealership because it means you took the effort to actually come in.
@beepak8902
@beepak8902 3 года назад
@@HowDazzyDo didn't take long at all actually, had the car in days. And I wasn't in a rush to buy , nor did I even need to . I wanted to, wasn't a need. If I was in desperate need, yeah I wouldn't have time to email I'd walk in and try to convince a finance department to strike a deal with me. Walking in and doing it the old fashion way is the old way of doing business. You know everything is going online , and in the future there won't be a need for sales people physically. I think it will become online only just like many other things. The less people involved, the more profit for the buisness, including less building space , etc needed . Look at Carvana for example, that's the future. No one wants to waste hours at a dealership.

I do something similar, but usually when I get to the dealer I'm given higher price because I do not qualify for some 5k discount. And I have to leave and go elsewhere. Sales people just want you at their door so they lie...even before you get there...and of course after you are there....my son used to sell Mercedes for a couple of years, and he told me number of stories about their dirty tricks....

If you make $10 per hour it may be worth spend hours and weeks trying to save a few hundred bucks and drive 50 miles just to buy a freaking domestic or Japanese car. My time is valuable and I just want a fair deal and will only buy local, for me service and efficiency is far more important

Great advice. I've used several of these tactics to my advantage. Three key points I'd like to add: 1) Read the fine print online first for arbitrary fees and stipulations regarding incentives. That way you're prepared to interact and negotiate. 2) Do your math at home so you have a ballpark idea of what the car should cost you OUT THE DOOR. 3) Don't act desperate. Don't hesitate to walk out if they are being stubborn and refuse to meet you at your out the door price. I've used several of Ari's tactics to my advantage over the years. I've had to walk away and buy a totally different brand of car before because they simply couldn't give me the kind of deal I would be happy with.

Also call your local DMV to find out the exact fees regarding the purchase of a new vehicle. Dealers like to "round up" to the nearest 100 dollars.
@lucasw2880

Also, get everything in writing. Did they tell you they would give you your first oil change for Free? Get it in writing. Did they say they were going to hook you up with a new set of floor mats? Get it in writing. Salesman promised a 2nd key? GET IT IN WRITING!!!!!! I used to be a service advisor and we had at least 4-5 people a week who were "promised" something that they never got in writing. In the dealership world, it's called a WE-OWE. Meaning we-OWE you something that you could not take with you when you purchased the car.

I'm in the business and this is all true for the most part and it's good advice for well qualified buyers. Secondary customers mostly negotiate payment only and sometimes were shopping for an approval, not "what's your best deal" so to speak. However, if someone tells me before even seeing pricing on a car that they will give me a 10/10 survey, I'm running away from that person as fast as I can because they people who grind you over every penny are usually the ones to burn us on a survey.

They wouldn't even confirm what (if any) of the rebates I qualify for...even after I offered to answer any questions. Finally told them I'm not driving 300 miles to find out it is a bait n switch price so if he wants my deal give me a what I need.....they never wrote back.

Great video. I’d have to disagree with the negotiating financing though. Taking dealer financing for a higher rate than what you already shopped for puts the ball back in their court. Them offering accessories or free maintenance, etc. has little out of pocket cost for them and can cost you more in the long run. Might as well take the lowest interest rate and save money over time and use your extra on hand capital to buy those accessories yourself

If this is how dealerships treat people and get over on people the. I suggest dont buy at all from dealerships let they business fall.... especially if they want to treat people like this and in a really horrible situation take advantage of familys and people that got a chance to do better and alls they care about is the money not their customers that provide them with said money

When my mother died during January of 2018, our local dealer bought her car for $500. As far as I could tell, it was clean and mechanically sound. The only thing that seemed to be wrong with it was it was the fact that it was a seven year old small sedan. I had a feeling he was lowballing us but my sister and I just wanted to get the car sold without a lot of arguing and struggle. I happened to pass by the dealership a week later and saw the car for sale for $8,000. That's quite a jump up from $500. Oh well, he sure made a profit on that deal.

That's the price you pay for the convenience of a "no haggle sale". Back in 2000, a Ford dealer offered me $300 for a trade in on a 10 year old Ford Aerostar in top shape. I sold it myself for $3000. Last year CarMax offered me $200 for a 2006 Audi A4, which I sold myself for $2000. If you want to get what the car is worth, you have to sell it yourself.

The best deal is the one the dealer is willing to sell it for if they let you walk out of a deal is because that is the best deal you can get. There is no such a thing as huge discount on vehicles that are on demand, if you want a crazy deal then you'll have to buy a brand or model that nobody wants to buy. Some models are hot selling like Audi Q5, Lexus RX, Subaru Outback and Crosstrek, Toyota Highlander, Mazda CX5, Mercedes GLC, among others.

As far as loans go, ask what the buy and sell rate is, which is to say, what is their buy rate. I would also have your own sheet and on it there are these lines: MSRP, offered price, tax, registration/title/plates, doc fee, trade if you are trading in and total cost, which is the OTD. No four square, no focus on payment. Have your payment calculator ready which is available all over the internet and many will be able to calculate the tax/title/reg/tags for your state. The numbers have to add up or they are burying points somewhere. Anything outside of those line items, just say no and if they insist, leave.

Hey Ari.. Got some questions for you.. Kind of what to do after purchase.. Long story short, i purchased my q70s 5.6x out of state from a dealer for a price i was happy paying. No issues with contract or anything like that. Dealer told me thru text "car runs great" when there is active misfires, and another issue that requires engine removal. I even told the guy i would pay them to make repairs if any were needed. "Car's in great mechanical shape." Overall about 7k in estimated repairs at infiniti. I contacted the selling dealer immediately, and informed them of issues, and plan of action. I truly feel like i was sold a car under false pretense, "false advertising" as it were. I plan on making them an offer to go in halfs on repairs, cutting me a check for difference in vehicle value adjusted for actual condition, or taking the vehicle back to them.. I'm really heart broken here, and don't want to act emotionally. I thought about emailing you but figured someone else out there will eventually go through this.. Thanks in advance Ari.. You're appreciated.. Great vid also... Fortunately the sale process was rather smooth for me, and I'm coming to find out why... They just wanted to get rid of the car i think.. Thanks again. Have a great day!!

As for wasting others' time (and money for that matter), do you know how many times dealerships have wasted my time during the buying process and lied to me about repairs I didn't need? Excellent video. My credit is bad. I could never get financing for a new car. I want to write my personal check for 35,000 for a new Honda CR-V at the local dealer. At least I won't have to worry about a big monthly car payment.

If you can write a check for a car, your credit score does not matter. Remember a credit score only gives you the ability to borrow money and pay interest to a bank. If you have cash, you never should borrow money.

IT IS LEGAL TO RECORD DEALERSHIPS SECRETLY IN MANY STATES. DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING UNLESS THEY TELL YOU THE TOTAL COST AND MAKE THEM PULL OUT A PIECE OF PAPER AND LIST ALL THE COSTS. MAKE SURE THE PRICE YOU'RE GETTING IS WHAT OTHER DEALERSHIPS OFFER. THE INTERNET IS YOUR BEST FRIEND.

Hi Ari, is it wise to let the dealer/salesperson that you’re perfectly willing to walk? I’ve bought many cars over the years, and have often walked, and by the time I open my car door, they’ve already dropped the price. It’s worked, but is it advisable in your experience?

leasing is very complex. You never come out a winner! There are ALWAYS hidden fees. My advise do not sign that initial order form. Insist on examining the final document. If you don't like the numbers just walk out.

I will be doing all my homework on this particular dealership because they asked for it. And just so it's clear I'm gonna find the good stuff any lack or hole I find that is over missed once I'm done doing my homework on your business I will let you know as well as others. Remember there is always something it's just a matter of homework! And again yall ask for this not me next time you will be careful of how you treat people. So with that said I will find something that's costly to your business everyone has something hidden now you made it my job and others job to now do homework and search for anything that we can find that will make you understand you will not continue treating people like this or take advantage of people without consequence so be prepaired.

They don't have the same incentives and rebates on used as new. If you've seen it online and it's a older unit they're probably already losing money to move it. At some point their better off sending it to auction, then selling it at more of a loss to a customer.

Close but you missed some key stuff. Acting like you don’t know about financing can have them add the 2 points in. Once they do they can come off the price of the vehicle itself. Once they do they can’t come raise it when you become smarter later. You don’t want to be smart all up front. You negotiate price first. Cost of car and act like you don’t care about financing, like you don’t even know how it works. So that they think they will profit off this too, make your hot button price of vehicle. Once that’s locked in, price of trade, than cost of financing. Be stupid about everything until you compete each step. You come off too smart yes you will get a good deal but if you lead them to believe you are a lay down they may come off the car $1000-$2000 more thinking they make up for it on financing. Even if you take their rate you can refinance 30 days later but you shouldn’t need to if you do it right. Or you just get the better rate from the finance office once the price is locked in. Showing your smart too fast not good. You can trick them into going lower than they ever want to be acting dumb about the things I mentioned.

Ari, so you really think your ideas of buying a car would really work with a BMW dealership in Southern California? The 2021 BMW G82 M4 500HP doesn’t go on sale until March 2021. I’ll give it my best try. MSRP is $ 74,000 dollars. My goal is to keep the price hopefully under $100,000 dollars.
