Cubase is hands down by far the best DAW on many levels. But also Pro Tool sis brilliant for electronic music once you have the audio - so easy to manipulate and mixing in PT is superb.

As far as I know Tom never tells us a specific touchscreen app that will do the things his does. Mark W Roberts mentioned Metagrid for iOS in his comment: big thank you for that! I knew about Lemur but wasn't sure it could do all these things easily. It can! Search RU-vid for "Lemur/Cubase Template Tutorial Video" and also "Controlling Cubase Track Visibility Using Lemur". I also plan to look at Metagrid and any other good recommendations people have.

HI Junkie, could you kindly consider re-doing this article in 2021 with your current setup? CMC interfaces are gone, could not be found. Nor the touch screens, but I am still looking for one. I hope this is a good idea, and anyway, thank you for all your work and ideas!

Hey Junk,thank you so much for your videos, it's great to see how you work! I have a question about your shortcuts (also from the mad max video) on your panel, specifically the 'show data at cursor'. I'm assuming that you're using a project logical editor preset that checks which parts are under the cursor and hides the rest? If so, doesn't that mess with your Visibillity list? I.e, if you've set up your session, and hidden a few tracks before, will this Macro/PLE not show or hide those also? And just another one; if you've set up your groups & stems, how do you deal with FX channels that multiple groups send to? For example, if I have 1 drum group and 1 string group, which both use a send to FX channel 1, how do you handle that with a batch channel export? Sorry for the nerdiness in advance :P

Tom, I was wondering about the 3 Faders on the JLCooper Fadermaster that you have assigned to Mic Positions. You say you have them set up for Close, Mid and Far and I'm guessing you have made every single library in your arsenal to be uniformed to use these 3 faders (providing the Libraries have 3 mic Positions). What I am wondering about is when you have (or make) libraries with many more Mic Positions, such as something from Spitfire, how do you control those positions as well? I own a JLCooper and recently got a Kenton Control Freak so I am trying to figure out the best thing to do regarding this. Thanks for all your videos. Been amazingly educational! Jono

how do you manage video with such huge project whenever i have huge midi projects my video freezes stop playing smoothly trying to figure out what exactly you all use to make it work but haven't got the right setup or specs or trick you use to work endlessly on the movie length video so smoothly kindly help me with that if possible. I use Cubase and video is always a pain when the project gets heavy. Thanks in advance Junkie. :)

What in your opinion are the top notch vst libraries with the best individual orchestral instruments?

How are all those physical inputs managed, and how can you work with multiple servers at the same time with a DAW? Or did I misunderstand? Sounds like he was saying 6 servers are handling the load.

What would be a good cheap alternative to the fadermaster ?

:) This studio is so overpowered compared to my own abilities that it felt more like a museum visit. Very few things I can actually implement in my own poor studio :)

Tom, I'm gonna be honest with you. Without your soundtrack, Mad Max Fury Road would have been an average film. Your work literally injected steroids into it, took it to another level. It is proof that composers really are the "second director." Also true for 300 Rise of An Empire.

How does the template thing work though? Say you're using a cowbell on track 3 and a trumpet on track 276? Why not just dial tracks up as you need them from the sub menus on a manageable sized template?
