You’re so right! My daughter is very high visual learning. That’s how she know 15 languages without ever been taught… and read and duel and punctuate perfect and never been taught. Amazing..

Hey mama you're doing just fine. The fact that you're on here, open to suggestions and finding hope speaks volumes about you as a mother. I think you're worried about the future. "Will he have good friends, a career he likes, will he find love, and with the world on fire, is he going to be okay out here?" But we're not there yet. He is going to surprise you in ways you cannot even imagine right now. We will cross that bridge when we get there and I say we bc it's important to me that you mamas know that you are not alone. Guess what- they thought I would never speak. I was feral, on the spectrum but no one knew. I couldn't be fully potty trained until 5. I struggled. But my mother never let me make excuses. She demanded the best from me. I knew I was different. She knew too, but she never let that even be spoken. As a result, I will never shut up. Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it. But in all seriousness, I know about the nights you spend and I'm just asking you to take a deep breath and let go of any expectations good or bad. With any luck, the universe will show you the magic it holds, and the journey you're on with him, hot take- bit of a secret- this is more about you than him. Each soul has lessons that it needs to learn while we are here. You're learning, huh? I have a son on the spectrum too. They're going to have awesome lives girl! Long as we are trying to show them the right way to live, the really important stuff, (like how to treat people and animals) they're going to do great and make the world better! Sorry this was so long, I truly enjoy writing and I try to do it with intensity and while I am writing, I really try to use it to uplift people. Sometimes, I just get these in my head for someone and I have to tell them what I feel bc it'll bother me if I don't. The coolest part is when they call me or text and ask me how I knew that or something. It makes me feel better like I am not useless. I have trouble keeping a job and that's been a source of great shame for me so I do these to feel like I contributed something positive while I was here, even if it's not a metric of success. Okay well drop your shoulders down and just imagine you're blowing on one of those little flowers and send the good intentions out into the universe for all these kids. You're doing it right. ❤

I’m dyslexic and I’m a visual type learner. I learn significantly better when something visual to me and I can also visualize and find connections very well too.

Our daughter is fascinated with horses. I got her into role playing on a game called star stable. Now she has a social group, learning to type, spell, read, write descriptively. Teaching her fractions with cake peices. Learned her letters with food coloring, shaving cream and a ziplock bag. I do wild things and it works and clicks.I pulled my kiddo and homeschool in a public charter school. I don't feel our public school system or medical system gets it.

Lmao it happened the opposite way for me. I’m autistic and I taught my dad python programming and helped improve his code at the age of 15, he was able to move from a more general IT network based department into a software engineering department and him and his team has been doing amazing work and has presented his ideas to the ceo. I must admit at this point he’a better than me and he’s a full stack developer now.

What about those who are analytical or more generalist? I’m good at essentially all three of these characteristics and I’m pretty creative but I am not as high level as others who may have deficiencies in the other areas and I’m also highly analytical

There are people like yourself who actually have traits of all three, equally. Then there's people who can do all the things, but really excel in one manner over the other two. Then, people who fit into just one category. You may just be the first type, and that is not that common but I think you just check all the boxes, not sure if they have a term for it but I'm going with omni-llectual. All the forms of intellect. I think if you & others need a box that isn't there, we should make one! 😆❤️

Word kid here. Math? Did I walk right up to my teacher and tell her I was not doing it anymore? Yep. I told her I'll give you an A in every other subject, but this? No. I don't understand it, it's way too rigid for me. I hate it. Stuck out my hand for a proper business deal handshake. It was not reciprocated. But guess who got a passing D? Yeah buddy! Sometimes you have to advocate for yourself. Years later I would find out that I actually have a form of math dyslexia. (it exists) In addition to being on the spectrum, this was not surprise at all! I struggled so hard, get your kids tested if they keep struggling and you're not seeing any improvement with traditional means like tutoring. But, does this make me feel less than, no! They can do my math & I will write their essays instead. By

@mightykaytor
@mightykaytor 5 месяцев назад
@andreinabarrera4105 speaking from my own experience; my cognitition is primarily based around language, speech, dialogue and reading, literally words running through my brain to the point where learning that some people have no inner monologue blew my mind. This translates to, at least for me, being rather fixated on words and language, translation, etymolgy, ,poetry etc and having an exceptional aptitude for acquiring languages and above average abilities in reading and writing. I tend to collect similarily minded friends, and most of us ended up as writers, whether doing it professionally, or purely for our own pleasure. Truth be told, as much as I love it, Im a bit envious of visual thinkers- I studied art, and I feel like not being visually inclined is a bit of a kneecapper in that field (but then, so is being so into intrinsic rewards that the idea of monetizing your creative expression makes you not want to do it, haha). Hope that helps!

Thank you so much! I really appreciate this. Thank you for taking the time to explain this to me. My boy struggles with lenguaje, and he's starting to communicate with two words sentence. So I guess he is definitely not a word kid. He is very into trains.. and looking into objects for a certain angle..he is just five but very curious and loves the outdoors .. again, thank you for your explanation

@andreinabarrera4105 im sure he'll let you know eventually, but from what you've described, i wouldnt be surprised if he's a pattern thinker, as in highly analytical and very sharp when it comes to pattern recognition. I know someone who didnt speak at all until he could do complete sentences, and he's brilliant at computer engineering and programming, that sort of thing (also has a great sense of humour, but that's unrelated, haha) Must be pretty interesting, raising a little person and getting to know them!

Love hearing this 😊. Thank you so much for the information and your kindness ❤️. It's so nice to hear it. It gives me a sense of peace. We love our son very much. We want him to thrive in life, but more importantly to be happy..! He struggles with speech, social interaction, and sensory issues, but he is very smart and loves 💧water and roller-coaster s. He is always jumping. That's how we know he is happy and excited about something. He is very sweet. I have dreamed about the day he will tell us everything, like how he sees and processes the information of the world. Thank you 😊

Not every childs going to be "rain man"....even with brilliant teachers and everyone focused on the best outcome, my nephew cannot form a coherent sentence. Its not as easy as "exposing" them to all feilds until you find their genius strength. Just trying to be real.

To: Temple Grandin From: Madisynn .S (17 years old) Dear Temple Grandin, I am autistic just like you. I was diagnosed with autism at the age of 2, I couldn't communicate till at the ages between 4½ to 5. I like to draw, play musical instruments especially my guitar, make new friends, try something new, imagination, reading books, and singing. I also like to write new things out like creative writing. I am high functioning like you are right now and you inspired me so much along with other autistic celebrities like Daniel Aykroyd, Albert Einstein, Daryl Hannah, Tim Burton, and others who are on the spectrum. When I grow up, I wanted to be myself just like you are and i'm thinking that I'm on the right track like you are like horses. Get it? Were both getting on the same track on our horses. Anyway I have good questions. I like to go to school, socialize with other kids, and have fun, but being autistic growing up, some days are happy, gleaming, joyful, amazing, and celebrating and some days are sad, depressing, gloomy, miserable, and heartbroken. Do you have these kind of days where it gives you ups and downs? Have you experienced like I have before when you feel that way? Have you experienced criticism, scolded, disapproval, bullied, and all of that by other people? What do you do when your dealing with these kinds of things in a situation/social situation? What do you do when you have these kinds of feelings and not have these kinds of feelings? How do you feel yourself as an autistic individual? Have you been a social outcast like I am? Have you have these before when you were my age? Sincerely, Madisynn A. Segarra
