I just received a pair today. The reason you're having issues with your heel is because of the size. Go 1/2 down. As well as why you feel "slick". Trust me. The shoe is awesome. You will feel a major difference.

QD: good easy run today in the unglamorous work horse of my marathon training: the highly underrated ASICS Dynaflyte 4. I chose this shoe because it’s got a generous slab of foam that is both responsive and forgiving, and it has similar characteristics to the racing shoe I’ll be using on Sunday (8mm drop, thinner through the mid foot and forefoot, etc). The Dynaflyte 4 is a true sleeper from last year; like a Honda Accord with a V6 and a manual transmission, it’ll smoke people at a stoplight but still be durable enough to commute in.

I picked up Novablasts last Friday, before the trials. I was very surprised at how they did: Great, soft rebound, similar to my Next%s. My only recommendation is to cut the heel-to-toe drop down 2 or 4 mm.

Thanks for this Seth. I love ASICS but none of their shoes make any sense to me until this one. I picked a black pair from Dix. I just ran 6 miles in them. They are a lot of fun. I like the high heel drop. The bounce feels like the ride 8 except it feels like its bouncing more forward. They feel like they want to go a little faster. But I ran slow today and they were still a lot of fun.

Jacquard invented the first programmable loom, arguably the first computer, which used punch cards to make complex patterns. I'm not 100% sure what ASICS means by "Jacquard mesh" but my guess is that it means 1) it is woven and 2) it is not a simple weave, it has a lot of complex changes in the woven pattern to produce the gaps.
@Jameswmin

"Modern jacquard fabrics can be made from a variety of different fibers, from natural cottons and silks, to man-made polyester and polyester cotton blends. What all of them have in common is the method of construction. Generally they are intricate in design, and tend to be stronger and thicker than many other types of weave."

QD: 15 mile run today. Just over 4 weeks out from Geelong half marathon (Vic Australia). Ran in Asic Glideride. They are my go to longer run shoe. Got them after your review Seth and I totally love them and the ride. I agree that Asic are back in the game and I will definitely be getting another pair of Asic Glideride. If any one is looking for a long run show in the shoe rotation I would strongly recommend the Asic Glideride. I am about 150 miles into their life and they are going strong. Mine just came today. Sooo comfortable!!! This may become a new staple for me. I usually run in a Kayano, not so much for the stability, but the cushioning and the durability. I stand on my feet all day at work and find that I prefer a more cushioned shoe for my already tired feet to go out and run. That being said, the Kayano is heavy. I have looking for a lighter shoe with cushion, durability, and I actually find it to be fairly stable too, for not being a stability shoe. Awesome shoe, great price!

Bough a pair of Adidas adios adizero 4’s. When the UPS delivery guy handed them to me the box felt so light that I thought it was nothing in it but a bag of potato chips. They seriously felt that light. When I started running in them the shoes almost felt magical. The forward propulsion is mesmerizing. One would have to actually experience it to know exactly what I’m talking about.

Love, love, love this shoe. It is all about the FreshFoamBlast!!! So, so, different from any other foam ASICS uses, which I normally find hard, dead, lifeless. Even the "ride" series, I am not impressed. This is a mid-forefoot striker's shoe. It's about being up on the balls of your feet, on your game! The shoe says, LET'S GO!!! Light, fast, bouncy, cushiony. Total all-arounder. AND, HERE'S THE KICKER.... $130!!!! None of this $150-275 nonsense. For real people.

QD: 10k easy day in the EvoRides, which I've been using exclusively for the last 200k. It's such a balanced versatile ride. It does everything you throw at it, long runs, tempos, strides, easy runs. I also have the GlideRides but they gather dust since the Evos, too much shoe and everything that's good about the GR, the ER does better. Really intrigued by the Novablast. At €140 it would be a good rotation to relieve my calves every now and then with that 10mm drop vs the Evo's 5mm. Edit: Bought them on a whim, when I walked past the ASICS flagshipstore in town. They felt really good on the treadmill there. After 45k on the road though, I have to say that this shoe needs a little tempo to wake up. The midsole is very plush, yet no energy sink (looking at you NB Propel or Turbo!) but nothing special when compared to other modern shoes with a chunk of foam attached to their uppers. I'd say transition is a tad slow which makes my feet work harder than I like at conversational pace. However, once you reach about 7:30 it wakes up, and at 7:00-6:30 pace (4:30-4:00min/km) it will give you that bouncy trampolin-like feel.
@cesarrodriguez3789
@cesarrodriguez3789 4 года назад
If you had to choose one for the easy/long run or recovery, which shoe would you consider the most multifunctional ? Evo or the nova?
@phl0w666
@phl0w666 4 года назад
Cesar Rodriguez Definitely Evo! More ground feel and a stabler platform. The Nova is really wobbly at slow paces (5:30min/k or slower) especially on uneven terrain (not necessarily trails but anything that's not completely flat and uncambered). Also its fit is a bit sloppy. It runs really large (my size 10.5's insoles are longer than my size 11 Evo's), has a narrow throat but excessive upper Material over the midfoot. I have to stop like every 3k to relace for a better fit. It works really well at 5min/k and faster though. So if that's your easy pace, the Nova is a great shoe. Then again, the Evo also shines at that pace while being the easier shoe to go faster due to its rocker. Since the Evo is about 80-90$ by now you can't go wrong with it!
@cesarrodriguez3789
@cesarrodriguez3789 4 года назад
@@phl0w666 what would you recommend for a daily trainer/long slow pace shoe?
@phl0w666
@phl0w666 4 года назад
Cesar Rodriguez As I said, the Evo. It's a classic daily trainer (like the Pegasus) but with a modern geometry and a more forgiving foam. It really can do everything. Don't let that low 22/17mm stack fool you. The parts you land on are 22m with zero drop. In the Ride family there's no real drop due to the aggressive rocker geometry. On the plusher side there's the Turbo 2 which is an amazing daily trainer that will work for slow paces as well as uptempo (it's too soft for fast stuff though). The Nova is kinda reminiscent of the Turbo 2. The T2 though has the superior ground feel and is much stable thanks to its broader platform. A cheaper option that kinda flew under the radar last year is the New Balance Propel. Great easy day shoe with a nice relaxed fit and seemingly bottomless cushion but that might be too plush if you are heavy.

Had a good run today, 2x2 Miles at threshold and then 4x200m in the middle of some warmup and cool down miles. Went with the 4% I use when I need a good tempo or road interval day that already has some races in it. Gives a little confidence boost when you want to go out and attack a workout.

5:52 I noticed that the Hoka Speedgoat 3 has got a certain geometric pattern to enable a "trampoline-like" effect, and the geometrics of the Speedgoat 3 also make for a "loudish" characteristic noise that they make when running. I imagine that the "ASICS Novablast" might also have a "characteristic sound" to it.

Hi Seth first of all Happy New Year to you and your family! And thank you for the great work you are doing in your vlogs, I started watching them in November 2020 and they totally changed the way I look at my trainers now motivating me to run more and improve myself. Regarding the Novablasts, I purchase them last year and I found them super comfy but there is an aspect that bothers me a lot and I am not sure if it is “user” or “hardware” related, I hope you can advise. Once I start my runs with these shoes I feel a bulge of the tongue seams specifically on the inner side at the height of the last hole in both shoes. I always use the runner's knot and usually I don't like to tie them too tight since the instep of my right foot is a bit high. When I start running I try to adjust the tongue as best I can to avoid discomfort but without much success, so I keep running until I forget that pressure point in my shoes until I return home and take my shoes off. The discomfort lasts for almost a full day if I touch that area of my foot. I wanted to love my Novablasts but this detail prevents me from using them more often. I have barely run 40 km in these shoes. Any recommendation? Cheers from Freiburg, Germany, René

Did anyone notice the length on the Novablast is slightly long. I normally take an 11 and that is what I got in these. If I got a 10.5 they may have been too tight.

Asics last long. I ran in Asics GT yesterday: 4 miles, then 1 mile chasing down a city bus through an industrial area of town. It actually passed me up after motioning that i wanted a ride. i was running down the middle of the street holding two fingers up (I'll let you guess which two). I never caught the bus

ric vegas You'd think there were plenty of stops within that mile. What kind of crappy long distance bus is that? :)

Would like to hear and see the review after more kms...I made 150km in the shoes for the last 3 weeks. Very pleased with the soft feeling...but my feet kind of move towards inner side, although have no pronation issue...this causes me lot of under-ankle pain so I will not use the shoes anymore...on the top of that, to my surprise, the tongue edge cut my skin completely around the ankle at the first runs, therefore I had to use continuously band-aid...although I never never had such an issues for the last 20 years of continuous run in both Asics and Nike...such a pity...Must add that the shoes made my knees feel much better, where I had earlier problem, that was great!!

QD: 14 Miles in the Vomero 14! Anyway, Asics is getting interesting these days. Definitely wanting to give some of them a try between this and the Glideride. Problem is I have too many shoes already, so it ain't gonna happen, but maybe by the time I'm ready in a year, the Asics will be on clearance. Then again, I'm sure something else will have my attention by then too...

Today I run in my new NB Fresh Foam X Tempo. I bought them on saturday so this was my 3rd run in those shoes. At the beginning I hated them: I found them super firm and my legs felt super beated up after using them. But today I went for, well, a tempo run, and it was a totally different story: they were great! You don't get any bouncy/snappy feeling and it's not too much of a fun shoe (they basically get the job done) and that's why I think I like my Boston 8 or my PT2 better. Anyway, you should give them a try and give us your thoughts about these new line of shoes (as you know, replace the beloved zante model) Greetings from Bolivia!

QD: My run was an interval run for about 20 mins mixed with 10k/5k/Half Marathon pace. Then I ended with 1 extra mile. The shoe I ran in today was the Nike Zoom fly 3. The reason why I ran in the zoom fly 3 is because it's my first actual running shoes.

QD : Run was good. First 15min easy run for warming and after that i did 4x1mile speed training @ 5min rest between each rep. Then 10min cool down jog. Shoes was Vivo barefoot SS15 Evo. Why did i choose these shoes for my partner for today.. Well.... Hard to explain, but i think that all who loves to ride "naked" 🤭 knows.
