You've really upped the quality in this video. Are you editing everything by yourself? As a fellow RU-vidr, I'd like to see your RU-vid process/workflow
Hi Danny and thanks for the comment. I am certainly editing everything myself and it took me ages - probably as I kept putting off the work - but I am so glad to have taken my time with this video. I’d be happy to share my workflow and process for making videos on RU-vid. Perhaps another project to add for a future video and thanks again for the suggestion. Regards, Martin 😊
Thank you very much. This is excellent content, and I agree with all, that’s you have mentioned, especially a comfortable chair! Unfortunately, my daughter doesn’t Only teach five or six lessons a day. She teaches more like 8 to 10 lessons per day. That is a hectic schedule, as there’s lesson preparation, homework, feedback, and I need not go on. The reason, she has such a heavy schedule, is because as a South African, she is not regarded by most of the companies, as a native English speaker, and because of this, she is paid much less than other online teachers. This places the South African English speakers in the difficult position, of having to take on a heavier workload, in order to make a decent wage. This is patently unfair, and just because a country has so many official languages, does not indicate, that we are not native English speakers. We are indeed native English speakers, and we have accents not dissimilar from neutral British accents. We are not Afrikaans, nor Zulu speakers. Indeed, there are non native English speakers from South Africa who teach online, but that should be taken into account, when companies hire them. Our mother tongue is English. For this reason, I do wish the companies would recognise this, and pay us accordingly.
Hi Martin, I like your engaging videos! You are a pro communicator. Great edition, I am a Spanish tutor and would like to know which app you use to record and edit the videos. I am quite lost in this field ... Thanks a lot !
Hello and thanks for your comment. I ended up using my Sony ZV-1 to record the video as well as my iPhone for the B-Roll. Once all recorded, I used Final Cut Pro to edit the video and also used Epidemic Sounds for all the music and sound FX.
Great tips, Martin! I'd just add that I think bluetooth headphones have come a long way over the past few years. I haven't had connection issues at all with my Sony WH-1000XM3 or Apple AirPods.
That’s great to hear. I guess that the most modern Bluetooth headphones have less issues than their older counterparts. I’ve never used AirPods before but I guess the connectivity is second to none. 🎧
Hi Martin is there a free way to get teaching material other than Ellii or Linguahouse? I thought I heard you mention in one of your videos. Thank you you're the best1
That's a great questions. The best speed for WiFi or internet is 50mbps. Try to get the best internet as possible with a potential internet provider as you will have little to no issue with internet slowing your teaching down.
Hi Martin, great video! I have a question regarding online teaching platforms. In your experience, what are great online teaching platforms that you would recommend to someone who is just starting out with teaching English online? I see you have various videos on Preply, but is there any other platform that you would recommend?
Sir is preply a platform where we become only language tutor .Sir I want to teach chemistry on preply .Can my profile being approved if I want to teach chemistry on preply
When it comes to teaching English online is there categories I don't have to teach for example if I just only wanted the teach people have to read and speak but I don't want to teach how the spell is that possible in any of the websites would appreciate a response thank you
no, language is a an expression of thought, so unless they can express themselves in another language you NEED to teach them how to do it in english, youre not a teacher if you dont what youre looking for is a translation job
