Just started watching your channel Evan, good work :) But I have a suggestion. I am part Filipino, born and raised in USA. Have you considered making a video for the Fil-ams or mestizo crowd like myself that are considering making a move there? I may be half, and I don't speak Tagalog, but I grew up around Filipinos my whole life. Since you have experience as a Fil-am who moved to the Philippines, I am curious to hear how you think Fil-ams are mestizos would think about moving back to the homeland.

In America, I could feel myself becoming socially invisible in my mid 40's. After my move here it feels like I got taller, slimmer and much more handsome despite being in my mid 50's now. The acceptance and even love and respect of older people is great here.

Not only to those above 60s chief. It's d Asean culture d elders should b respected even those in lower category like if someone aged 20/30 meets another 25/30s display of mutual respect is expected . Even as a senior citizen l always greet someone like Kuya etc though m much older .

There are the people who will not experience that "change" because they do not leave their personal and political baggage in their home country. Also not looking at the new experience as an adventure and not getting angry and frustrated in the PH. Thanks for the video!

As an older westerner, I have found if you look a little lost, like trying to find something in the market, there will always be someone who will ask if they can help and not necessarily the staff. My first trip ever I brought my own coffee because I knew there was a Mr. Coffee in the condo, but I forgot filters. Here in the states coffee filters would be with coffee, right? LOL! We found them with paper towels, disposable diapers and tissues. They are made of paper, right? 😄I have since grown used to Nescafe 3 in 1 with the occasional visit to Bo's.

Another great video Evan. Some of your comments have brought into mind that as a Pinoy, I've called out ohana about the weird hypocrisy we have about being a "culture of courtesy and politeness" but then completely disrespect each other when we cut lines, blame the other person when clearly know it's our fault and find it common that we would rather dance around the truth rather than have a hard discussion about responsibility...most of my family still there avoid giving me a good answer, but they know I will mercilessly call them out to which they just say...oh yea but what just how we deal with it...if you ever figure this one out, let me know, I honestly think this is one of the cultural things that hold PH back...

Hey bro, been watching this channel for a while now. I decided to pop in and subscribe. I've watched many vloggers on the tube regarding what it's like out there. I'm in NorCal and about to execute our trip there. We are overlanders and we have been everywhere. I see your vids are always in the city I was wondering if you can make a vid regarding the width of the roads out there and if it's designed to handle expedition vehicles including fees if we need to register the vehicles while out there in a temp fashion. I drive an Earthroamer LTi and the XVLT. I've done research about ferrying the trucks by sea as we have done in the past. Good information is always key coming from a locals perspective that is not a foreigner. Do you miss Chi-town at all just curious? Anyway thanks for all the info. Keep it up!
@TheSavvyExpat
@TheSavvyExpat 2 года назад
Hey Johnny. I'm not too knowledgeable on the vehicle scene around here, but I'll see what I can research. If you're in the city I'm in, BGC, you'll find wide roads so there will be no problem getting around. In smaller cities however, that's not the case. All I miss from Chi town was the food lol. Thanks for watching.
@johnnyS01
@johnnyS01 2 года назад
@@TheSavvyExpat It's cool. Thanks for going out of the way. If commercial trucks can fit there then the vehicles will also fit. It can be pretty challenging with both height and width. Height equates to trimming branches in order to get through that trail so as to not damage solar panels and other sensitive electronics on the roof. Hence "Adventure" THere is a place I've had my eye on as one of the destinations it's called Lake Pantabagan. Reminds me of Scotland. Chicago had good food last time we were out there we ate at Red Hot Ranch Of Armitage. Dogs were bomin. I like the direct approach you do that's why I watch your channel Keep it up!

a lot of local filipinos find filipino americans a bit offish because they carry with them the air of american superiority despite sharing the same physical features. also, endless talk of comparison between the philippines and america and complaints about the system will make most locals feel inferior and uncomfortably apologetic since disdain is hardly expressed. saying anything crass about the food filipinos consume, which a lot foreigners do, is the best way to get hated. generally, if you are a man, girls will find your american accent appealing but not vice versa

This is my reply to your episode: Ten reasons why expats leave the Philippines. This is my opinion about your thoughts savvy. After reading all the exchanges of replies you and readers of comments on display (because replies needed click first to show up). You live in the Philippines and you enjoyed it in some degree..however, of course there must be some negatives anywhere in the world including the Philippines. But would you take responsibily ...to appease/minimize the many extreme negative thought about this country they are trying to imply generally? Because you are the one they ask!! ...Not all the Filipinos are expecting/waiting all the time for a 'hand out' from any foreigner their family member/relative involved with, you can oftenly see relatives feed by their foreign partners but mostly only on special occations/celebrations. More often they're just having curiousity & wanting to be friend to you. Many of us are farmers, fishers, sellers, drivers, mechanics, artist/painters, carpenters, decorators, beautician, technicians, musicians etc. Of course there are some lazy individuals everywhere, you even have machines even on simple dishwashings.. there are some do always thought of money in their minds, gamblers, drunkards, addicted to dangerous drugs, psychopaths, Godless..Now tell us, where in the world not having some individuals like these? America? Nope. You are the one to correct them because you started all these..but instead, you allow them to mock Filipinos and adds futher points in agreement to their saying. Be true to your conscience and experience! Do you really a witness or actually witnessing, that generally as I read all your exchanges of thoughts.. Filipinos are robbers/ lazy?.. if you are unsure, Say it to them. I know you are still young but you started this. You even suggested go ahead signal to a query to take Filipina fiance/wife just to spare them the hassles of life here in Ph.. that's Ridiculous. You victimized us with Asian hate crimes in your country not to mention other difficulties.. still you'll pursue us in our own land? And still we treat you right and respect you. Of course we know Government has issues of corruption and mismanagements! And that sincere/voluntary/unconditional love/help to needy.. that is the thing what we welcome from anyone, thank you. God may bless us all.
