This is the best rock band of that era. Of course Alvin Lee is amazing, but that bass player is the best I’ve ever seen! And that drummer. Just perfect! What are the chances those three would find each other?
Being a guitarist is a brotherhood. They steal from each other on the way. It's hard to say who is the best, all I can say is Alvin Lee and Johnny Winter is on my list. But that's my list. Music is universal and we need to stay faithful and keep sharing. Alvin Lee is Badass R. I. P. Alvin.
Page, Clapton, Beck & Hendrix got more acclaim at the time but Lee was as good, just a little underrated. I saw TYA live at the Filmore West in 1971, where the opening act was Mountain featuring another underrated guitar player Leslie West. All these years later I have vivid memories of this concert, high as i was ( don’t kid yourself, there was powerful weed available in those days, if you were fortunate enough to find it. Trust me I did).
Saw these guys live in 71 at St. Louis. He began the intro in complete darkness. Then came an explosion of light, sound and magic..it drove right into your bones..crowd went crazy. Superb showmanship.
Folks, there's just so much oxgen in the room. The Beatles, Zep, Clapton, et. al. sucked out all the oxygen. Ten Years After and Traffic are the single two most underrated, underappreciated bands. It's criminal. In a just world, the world would dig on Alvin Lee and his TYA mates. It is just criminal Al and TYA are so underrated and underappreciated. Al is one of the single best singer songwriters. I have no problem ranking him as a top ten guitarist. No bullshit, "A Space In Time" is brilliant. One of the single best classic rock albums ever recorded. Even better than TYA's "Cricklewood Green."
Back in the late 60s and thru the 70s we had so much ground breaking music to choose from British invasion, hard rock, southern rock, motown, psychedelic, and clasic country what a great time to grow up

Remembering this one.. CKLG vancouver.. 1968..i think they had a shortened version for radio play.. But after midnight, you'd hear many great tunes, long versions , album cuts etc...that weren't on the daytime "top 40"...this has a "steppenwolf" sound to it, been a long time since hearing it... Todays "classic rock" stations only play a fraction of what's 'out there'
They don’t make em like this anymore… never will again. It’s just too damn good. Simplest riff ever with a blinding lead guitar.. that’s standard Lee.. Alvin and Bruce… top o the line
Lyrics You roly-poly All over town But you come on back to me When things are down Love like a man Love all you can Your satisfaction Is growing less If you come on back to me Use my address and let you Love like a man Love all you can You are the woman You can't deny You look so good to me, girl You make me high I'll tell you something I think you know When you flash those eyes at me All systems go and let you Love like a man Love all you can
RIP Alvin Lee. A underrated and overlooked guitarist who could run rings round the music media darlings like page, Clapton, beck. Definitely Nottingham's finest.
1972 Palaeur Roma. Io c'ero. FAVOLOSI!!!!! Ricordo il commento entusiasta di un ragazzo che uscendo esclamò:" Aho, quella chitarra je fumava stasera..."
That unbelievable and incredible guitar solo he starts at about 2:28 is like the dazzling textbook for everyone else to follow; it has everything: speed, control, groove, pizzazz and especially groove. Man, in a way, you even listen to Hendrix sometimes and go, "but he ain't no Alvin..".
Hello. If you liked this Love Like A Man solo, check out the version (it's the first track) on the Live At The Fillmore East album - available on RU-vid. It's a much longer and much better solo, and possibly his greatest ever in any live performance.
Still have the single. Studio version one side and a great live version on side b. Saw them 1970 at Liverpool Uni and they opened up with this song. Effing awesome

Was so fortunate to see Alvin in Dertroit in 74 at COBO HALL. Also see Alvin Lee and the Detroit Wheels at HARPO"S . On 6 mile.Even Ted Nugent came in play on that BONE COLD February Night.
Hey rock ‘n’ roll Hall of Fame!! what the fuck man they should have been put in when it started, biggie smalls and madonna you got to be fucking kidding me,, pretty soon kids will be saying remember rock ‘n’ roll used to be on the rock ‘n’ roll Hall of Fame? They were the theme song of growing up in the 70s,, Best guitarist ever
I think that every time that I run across another TYA vid, I tune in to see how Leo's doing. And I swear, I almost get as exhausted just watching him do one tune as he must feel by the end of the night. Red Bull? he would have asked. What the hell's that ? Don't need one.
