After four and a half year and 70.000 km I change the clutch plates on my Tenere 700. This is the video of the work I did and hope it can help someone looking to do the same.
The service manual is not very detailed in some areas so I looked at forums and videos to gather as much info I could before starting.
Since the CP2 engine is the same as on the Yamaha MT-07 there is a lot of information online to look at.
These are the parts I bought for this job.

When looking closely the cover was leaking a tiny bit of oil. I got some tips and got the OEM cover gasket which is metal(ish). I cleaned the surfaces with break cleaner and mounted the new gasket dry and clean. Now it works perfect and no leaks. 👍🏻 Other learnings from this: - Do not use a sharp cutter to scrape the gasket left overs from the cover. Use a nylon scrub or something softer than aluminium.

Hi Robert, I've now changed the clutch plates and put a few miles on it. It has made a real difference. It goes into 1st without the big clunk and I don't hear a squeal when taking off from cold. But I think the most significant change has been the bite point. The clutch has a nice and progressive feel that you can feather, before, when you let the clutch out there was nothing, nothing, nothing then a sudden grab. So thanks for the recommendation Robert, keep up the good work, we enjoy watching you guys.

I use the new gasket and a sharpie to mark the exact location on the cardboard that came in the gasket then use a punch to make the holes for the bolts.

Very well explained, Robert! As long as the steel plates are not discolored or warped, you can continue to use them. Wear is actually only on the friction disks (discoloration, or if the squares on the friction disks are ground down, or the disks are below their minimum size, or just burnt/just smell at them) or at the inner and outer Clutch basket (grooves on the touch surface of the steel disks on inner basket / friction disks on the outer basket) and of course, length of the springs. The clutch baskets of your bike look absolutely perfect. It'll work the same distance again, I believe! By the way, the Abil seal has to be used dry. A very thin layer of silicone sealant is only applied to the separating surfaces of the housing halves. The sealing surfaces should be absolutely free of grease and oil. Clean the surfaces beforehand with brake cleaner!

Every real biker should have a man cave (for his bike!). Even, when you're non or little experienced in bikes technic, every little screwing job should be reconsidered, alone or with friends, maybe with a beer (?)! Especially in the winter months, it can be beneficial for the mind and soul to exchange ideas with your bike buddies.😉

For us Europe guys the cheapest way to get OEM clutch parts is to actually order a clutch kit from the US. 1WS-W001G-00-00 It contains all plates/springs and gasket. Sadly it isn't sold here, but it still comes out significantly cheaper than buying all parts seperately, which we have to here.

There is a reason why the outer plates are different, they turn against the aluminium plate and alu basket, you dont want friction there... also not using a original metal gasget... when the motor gets really hot it can/will leak or blow. Normally you was more prepared for a video my friend ;)
