I try out Uber Taxi’s for the first time in Tenerife and compare Uber to the regular metered Taxis, Buses and also Rent A Car in South Tenerife.
We visit the Safari Centre in Playa De Las Americas and enjoy some shopping in Hugo Boss and cocktails in Harry’s Bar overlooking the fountain.
We then head to Tenerife South Airport on the public bus (Number 40 Airport Express) to pivk up a Rent A Car for Sanasty.
To round off a busy day comparing transport around Tenerife, we enjoy a Tandoori Hut Indian for dinner in Los Cristianos!

16 euros was a lot to pay , apart from the car , it seemed like a similar journey .Certainly my experience of Uber in London is that they often cancel it or take ages to get there and you can’t cancel as you’ve paid already

The Uber prices in the UK fluctuate dramatically too depending on how many people are on the app, if I go to order one and it seems high I click off and click back on after a couple of mins usually goes down - as you say if you get a good price you need to get it straight away…as for paying more for these black ones on holiday I probably wouldn’t bother for the short distances we would be going the usual taxis are fine xx

Great vlog , we was over last week used regular taxis twice found them spotless friendly and decent price we didn’t have any problem wen asking the hotel to get us one but found it difficult trying to get back from el duque sry mind the spelling lol How ever we were approached twice in pueto colon by drivers who told us up frount that they were fake ! Taxis you have mentionend this before and we declinend but a lot of people were takeing them wich we thought was a massive risk for a few euros less , shortly after that we decided to use the bus service and found it fantastic cheap on time , regular and we got to see parts of the island we wouldn’t see we did end up on a magical mystery tour one day but saw it as an adventure 😂 and met a British couple who made the same mistake but it was fun 😅

Ease of access and convenience is what Uber is all about. Up and down price is same in England, it’s all about supply and demand, can always benefit from it going down, does tell you here if it’s currently at a higher price so then you can just wait for it to go down normally

Well Andrew I have never been to Tenerife,and at my age never will be,but I enjoy watching your life there.About Uber,I love it, here in NYC it is so convenient,always there within a couple of minutes,most of the drivers helpful to an older person like myself, not so with the taxi drives,also most of the time the price is very similar except when Uber is very busy,and they add a surcharge.The taxi drivers often drive the long way around,or take routes with a lot of traffic to boost the fare,Uber as you said have a set price.

Next time I'm in Tenerife i will be using Uber, so many taxis that we used in June this year added a 2.70€ supplement, some take it off as soon as you say something, others just argue that its correct even though I knew it wasn't. Heard so many stories about Drivers locking you in the taxi and shouting in Spanish at passengers if they say anything about it. I was with a 3 year old so didn't want to cause a scene. It's unfortunate that so many ruin it for the few good honest drivers out there!

Always try and support local taxis, but Uber does give you a set price, no need to worry about cash and sometimes you can't find a taxi rank. So a good addition

I would use a normal taxi them extra €10 or so on each trip you would take whilst on holiday could be used for extra holiday spending money. But as you say it is a extra option if you need may need it.

We used Uber when we visited Boston and Washington, it was excellent, however we are going to Mexico in Jan and the local taxis are blocking the roads in protest to Uber starting in Cancun , will the local Tenerife taxis ( who also suggested last year that THEY were over subscribed) start protesting in Tenerife?

Just recently rented a car from yourselves in Los Cristianos. Been visiting family on the island since I was 6 months old (late twenties now), and after using taxis, buses and all sorts in between it was so refreshing to be able to hire a car. You’re service was brilliant, super convenient and I’ll certainly be wanting to use it again soon. Keep up the good videos!

Definitely the most helpful video you've done and really appreciated! Trying to figure out how to get around Tenerife has been a bit difficult. Glad I opted for a hire car. I do wish your videos were a lot shorter or split into chapters to make it easy to get to the important information quickly. If you do one about the ferries and boat rental I'll definitely watch. One about what separates your rental company frome the major international companies and other local ones would be great too! Any suggestions for what to do with luggage if you have a long time between hotel check out and departure from the airport? Leaving it in the boot doesn't seem like the best idea.

I went to the Man Utd v Fulham game by Uber £10.00. After leaving the suite 1 hour after the game, one Uber wanted £60.00, for the return journey, which is approximately 4 miles. Eventually got one for £30.00. Rip Off ! 😡

On the point of why the taxi price was fluctuating so much, i wonder if UBER are listening in on the taxi radios airwaves and know when there is a shortage of taxis, so can command a higher price? Regular taxis all day long never had an issue, Uber rip off the drivers and are more expensive these days than a regular taxi. €10 euros more for such a short journey. Also would prefer car hire as a cheaper option

Oh I’m so sorry for the Spanish cab drivers . It’s not allowed where we have a place in Benalmadena mainland Spain . They will take over like they have in UK . Slave labour . So so sad . I’ve heard there is Uber car hire coming out soon 😱 they drop off the car to your hotel , cheap cars , only thing is insurance is expensive. At least u get some in a hire car , in an Uber taxi you never know what you are getting 😬 Be careful people . Always use a licensed local taxi
