Video log of a morning trip to Lansing Clear Creek in Allamakee County on Thursday, November 30, 2023.
Lansing Clear Creek offers mostly stocked and holdover rainbow trout. Over the past few years, wild brown trout have begun to naturally reproduce within the upstream sections of the fishable portion of the creek.

You definitely found a well fed bunch of rainbows and browns there, Gary. Gotta love the beautiful coloring on those dark rainbows. Always nice to see the native browns hanging in there as well. Keep having fun.

Nice jobe Gary! The last one was the best imo! Is that a campground or do people live there year round?

Thanks! It’s a privately owned campground, closed for the season. I think the rigs parked there may be in long term storage as I didn’t see any other humans all morning.

According to both the DNR map and the Allamakee County Trout Fishing Guide, it’s all public access around the campground. Good enough for me. 😉

I always show it when I start out, in the upper left-hand corner of the screen. If I change to something else, I show that too.

Can you fish anytime of year in the Driftless? Have to come out to my brother for some dental work and figure I should fish if I do.

Trout season is open all year in the Iowa Driftless. In the Minnesota Driftless, the early (catch-and-release only) season opens on January 1st. In the Wisconsin Driftless, the early (catch-and-release only) season opens on January 6th. The DNR website for each state will have the details.
