Tenkara One Knot (tippet to level line and tippet to fly)

This is the same knot as used for the tippet to level line (except that you go through the eye of the fly first and then complete the knot).
After 2 decades of using an improved clinch to tie my fly, and feeling that I was losing too many flies, I decided to give this knot a try. This was taught to me by Dr. Ishigaki. It works very well, is the same as tippet to level line, thus simplifies things a bit, and is simple to tie.

I have spent probably about 4 hours watching instructional videos on tenkara rods, with not a single god damn mention of a fucking knot ON A FUCKIN FISHING ROD, and you, a saint of a man, did it in a single minute. Thank you for not gate keeping a literal opening in a fence made by someone else.

Daniel, I love all of your online content. It has really helped my tenkara maturation. This knot is a lifesaver for my less-than-youthful eyesight.

I love this knot and after only a short time practicing can tie a fly in less than 15 sec. I never worry about time to swap out a new fly anymore or how many times i'm wrapping the line around itself. I use this as recommended for tippet to level line as well. This knot is also especially great to tie in windy conditions because your left thumb acts as a clamp for the loops. So thankful to Daniel for posting this video, you have simplified my tenkara fishing!

Great video! I wasted a bit of line following other videos on tying this knot because it wasn't apparent that the 2nd and 3rd loops go AROUND the first loop! Thank you for making this clear by using colored line and keeping everything in frame.

I too used the clinch knot for years. Took awhile but this knot came finally and I love it. You should give it a name-maybe the Ishigaki Knot. Thanks for taking the time. Hope to shake your hand someday.

Great video. Thanks. But my tippet is 5x, so only a little thicker than a strand of hair. Your tippet here is very thick and easier to put this knot in. What tippet are you using here?

I will have to try this knot. Almost every time I use a clinch knot, the knot comes loose and I lose a fly. I usually use a uni knot, but it can be difficult for me to tie with light tippets.

A "Fisherman's" knot. I use this knot x2 to attack 2 pieces of line together (called a double fisherman's knot in the rock climbing world but have never seen it in the fishing world xD). Less idea than alberto or double uni knot but it works.

I don't see how this know ties two lines (Tippet to Level) together.

This is the double fisherman's knot. Have it strength tested.

This is a double fisherman's know, which has been around forever, not sure why you're calling it by a different name

Tenkara USA your accent is fine dude. I was only slightly confused for a second but had no trouble understanding your pronunciation and knew you were saying knot. There’s a way to clarify politely, and then there’s the way this Ron guy said it. Thought the video and explanation were super clear, like all your other ones. Bought your Hane rod a couple weeks ago and love it. These vids helped me get out on the water and start catching fish almost immediately. Keep it up my man!
