Very cool looking, I'll definitely have to use this technique. I've been making caster sugar for years, but I didn't realize it would have that cool texture if I used it on my cookies!
Thank you! This fuzz is perfect! I didn't have any icing left after I flooded the cookies so I used a mixture of Karo syrup and Everclear alcohol to adhere the fuzz. Is there any reason not to add the fuzz to the wet flood icing? I do that with sprinkles, would these be any different?
I have the same question. I’m thinking that you wouldn’t get the 3D effect if the icing was wet, as the sugar would sink into the Royal icing. Just my thought.
If you want to write a name, I'd use the sponging technique to achieve the tennis ball fuzz texture, or do the fuzz with sugar after you pipe the name.
