hi there, I am more interested in premature wrist flexion in forehand. could you talk a bit more about it? for a 4.0+ player, when is the correct timing to release the wrist? during practice, do I need to actively think about releasing the wrist so that I can increase the racquet-head speed or I just let it happen naturally after contact? btw, after years' of watching online tennis lessons, I strongly feel that for every instruction, it should be mentioned which level it applies to. tips for 3.0 are definitely different from those for 4.0, and vice verse. the same tip can help some a lot but be very misleading to others at different level.

Hi gzgaochao. It didn't even occur to us that players of different levels view our videos and certain technical elements vary among different levels. That is a very good point and we will look to incorporate that in the future. Thanks for adding value to our channel! We will definitely discuss more about wrist snap and release in a future video.

I was really impressed with the level of detail you put into your forehand lag video and I’m definitely going to put it in action because right now I’m hitting my forehand like Halep with almost no lag. Also, very pleased to see you recommending a stationary ball for muscle memory work. The only small critique that I have is regarding your one handed backhand grip that I noticed in this video. It seems to me that you use a similar grip to Dimitrov’s somewhere in between Continental and eastern backhand. The wrist is pretty weak in that flexed position at contact. That’s probably one of the few technical parameters that is still used and taught incorrectly by some coaches out there. Let me know your thoughts on that issue because in my opinion, it is the one thing that cripples a lot of one handed backhand players.

What helped me with the Topspin Pro was to start with a hand brush but to also realize it's not actually a hand brush. It's best to focus on getting your hand to where it needs to be by using your legs and your bodyweight without directly using your wrist and trying to use as little of your shoulder as possible. If you use your shoulder and wrist to get to that position then you'll be arming the ball during actual play. Just my $0.02.

Why 70 degrees when the optimal is supposedly 28 degrees? Kinda exaggerated verticale path even accounting for your explanation. Also it inhibits the natural wrist flexion and release on follow through.

Nice review. I'm thinking of getting one of these. It's a bit pricey but it's the only training tool of this sort I have seen. The other drill my coach taught me was standing in front of the net and brushing up on the net.

So even for an intermediate player who can produce topspin, but not always perfectly. This tool would be very beneficial?
@RacquetFlex
@RacquetFlex 5 лет назад
Absolutely! While this tool is targeted at beginners trying to learn topspin, higher level players such as myself have gotten results with great effect. I would suggest gradually practicing without the pads so that you can decrease the exaggeration as you get used to the swing path.

He does the top speed rotation early on the shot for me. I ends up hitting the net I would like to come through the ball and then do my extension at the end.
@RacquetFlex
@RacquetFlex 6 лет назад
If your goal is to hit flatter shots, it is perfectly fine to come through the ball and extend later. The goal of the device is to prevent the tendency to do so.

But pros don't get massive topspin by brushing the ball, yes you can but you lose strength and precision by hitting the ball that way, there are better ways like wrist pronation and hitting the ball below the sweat spot of the racket strings... weird cause the videos I've seen in the channel which I love actually shows that more than brushing which is a beginner's technique.

Do you think it would be best to just buy a ball machine if I'm going to invest in a tennis aid? This seems cool, but $140 seems a bit much considering it'll be used for a month or so. A machine would be used for years.
@Johnstage
@Johnstage 4 года назад
Completely different category. Yes, I have 2 ball machines. Great tool. Be prepared to buy lots of balls and repair the unit yourself.
@darthsiddious7469
@darthsiddious7469 4 года назад
@@Johnstage Just bought a SlingerBag, will probably use it for the life of it's warranty and then just upgrade and sell the old unit. I think this aid is useful, but $139 is too expensive considering how long it'll last, due to eventual boredom or it breaking. Nothing beats reps on an actual court where you see your ball placement. I'd pay $50 for it.
@justinmwhitaker
@justinmwhitaker 4 года назад
@@darthsiddious7469 We've been using ours for about 7 months. My son and I use it weekly, the rest of the family a little less. One thing it's really good at DayDay pointed out: creating muscle memory. You tend to get into so bad habits, so going back to the TSP and practicing a bit helps reinforce better technique. YMMV of course.
@darthsiddious7469
@darthsiddious7469 4 года назад
@@justinmwhitaker I agree, it's useful and I think clubs around the country should have 1 or 2 for members. I will comb through the pre-owned market for a sub-$100 one, it's useful for me being in a winter city when I can't go out.
