Tension Issues: Gutters

I'm glad my suggestions were helpful! Knitting is such an individual thing, every knitter holds the yarn and tensions the yarn and forms the stitches differently, it can be hard to figure out what exactly needs to change in order to improve. Keep trying small things and eventually you'll get where you want to be. I'm glad you're finding things that work for you!

Yes, I'll cover "rowing out" or tension issues at the edges next week! Slipping stitches at the edges doesn't really help that, and can make it look worse sometimes.

It can be very knitter-specific as to which stitch is causing the problem - keep experimenting and you'll get it figured out! Try to only apply one fix at a time and knit a bit to see if that helped or made it worse, then try a different fix and so on! Good luck!

Don't be discouraged! Try several different changes - (I'd suggest one at a time so you know what fixes the issue) - and you'll come up with something that helps, I'm sure! Changing needle materials can help, or the form of the needles (circular, straights, etc), how you tension the yarn - there are lots of things you can try before changing the knitting style. Sometimes just having no distractions and really paying attention when you knit can help to build the muscle memory to tighten up the particular stitches that are looser when you knit. Keep at it!

Rowing out is similar - but only happens at the edges - the upper part of the swatch illustrates that (and I have a video specifically on it as well) - it has a slightly different cause than gutters. (This can also be called edge guttering.) But, technically, gutters happen all the way across the row.
