As a giants fan the hope for some of our whiff heavy prospects has always been Teoscar, Heliot Ramos looks like he's doing something similar, Marco Luciano next? In particular, kind of the lodem pull flyballs approach, take prospects with ridiculous raw power(bat acceleration) and have them wait on pitches to mitigate whiff or pitch recognition seems to be at least a plausible way of producing major league hitters with fringy hit tools. Heliot Ramos has ridiculous bat acceleration but a short batpath(deep contact point) and a max EV this year < 110.
i can’t find the video yall were talking about the trade deadline and getting caught between 2 trades but that seemingly happened to the yankees in 2022.. they flipped monty out of nowhere at the nth hour and the talk all deadline had been a trade for pablo lopez (possibly involving gleyber) and it just never actually ended up happening. but im pretty sure the yankees have actually come out and said we were very close to a pablo lopez deal that year. they got caught in between trades and didn’t have enough pitching after swapping monty for harrison bader ugh gross trade
I hear Coby Mayo has started batting left handed because he has nothing else to learn in AAA, and he was super board. It was that or bat with one eye closed, but that could be dangerous.
