Good unbiased review. What I find interesting, and potentially telling, is how so many of his critics seem to ignore a fair number of other reviewers/"influencers" (not all) seeming to benefit from their own relations with some brands without disclosing so as to avoid the perception of impropriety. My understanding of his stance in additives is that the most commonly used ones aren't dangerous or that different from what many people already consume. I totally agree with you that many additives distract from unadulterated flavors and also can be bad for you in large amounts, though this is also true of liquor inherently since it's a poison. He also says he prefers tequilas without additives, which can come across as confusing, I know. I do find it funny when some supporters of additive free then talk about how much they like making tequila cocktails with soda pop and other sugary mixers. The key to me, as someone who grew up with lots of food allergies including to artificial colors, flavors, & preservatives, isn't the additives per se but transparency in labeling. There are also clear signs of "additive free" being turned from something positive into a marketing tool like the "health food" craze a couple decades ago ("fat free," "low fat," etc. But then with other things added, including lots of sugar or wheat).
Thank you ! I don’t have any personal relationships with any brands. And if I did , oh well , I keep it 100. Now , tequilas without additives are a healthier choice oppose to those that do contain additives , keeping that in mind I do understand alcohol is a poison and must be consumed responsibly with the knowledge of all the health risks associated with drinking. Some additives are not bad for you (supposedly ) meaning safe for human consumption, unfortunately those additives are so concentrated with today’s modern technology that it will not exceed the 1 % of that 100 % agave spirit meaning the CRT do not require to disclose the use of any additives or artificial sweeteners as long as additives are kept under that 1 %. Some master distillers claim there are additives used in today’s tequila that are illegal for use in some countries because they are in fact dangerous . So additive free can be just a bit healthier, and should not be confused with with something healthy , I totally understand what you are saying and I agree. ( Man I should make a video on this. )
I don’t know… there are 3 I can think of that I absolutely loved, they are completely different but just as good, it’s all in what you crave in the moment. I would say Fortaleza Lot 20 S, G4 Madera Lot 1 and tequila Ocho Puntas. I Rated them all in the 90’s
True on their prices, you have to watch F&S. If Hombre is involved with the store, then he is probably making money. I stopped listening to him after his cursing out video of any haters or bad commentary on his videos. Very immature and unprofessional, in my opinion. I haven't tried this one but I completely agree with all your commentary
I don’t want to seem like a hater! lol but on the Carrera video he said some things like “we can purchase it for my online store” “So I flew out on my own dime, booked a hotel, stayed at the hotel myself uh paid for everything myself” Now towards the end he says “you can join the tequila barrel agave collective for 10 bucks a month to get access to these amazing batches and barrels we are purchasing exclusively for this group and also THIS GROUP HELPS FUND MY TRIPS AND STUFF.” So I don’t know , you can watch and decide what to be leave. These are specially selected single barrel offerings of San Matias Gran Reserva Extra Anejo that was exclusively offered to the Tequila Barrel and Agave Collective." But he's not making any money from anybody or promoting brands to make money. Load of crap. I also found out that he had created multiple TM accounts and scoring "his" tequilas higher than they should be. TM caught him and deleted thoses accounts.
You missed the other key part that he said. The other key part was that you had to had gotten it from his store or else it wouldn’t be the “best high proof out there”. Don Fulano fuerte and and terralta high proof are better in my opinion

have you seen the video of him saying that tequila match maker is not a good source to go by and there is another video of him basically saying additives are not bad. I joined one of his lives the other day not knowing about the videos i just mentioned. When i joined he was talking about how additives are not bad and then right after he says im working with Corazon (de Agave). So when i heard him say additives are not bad i was like “wait…what! That contradicts everything every tequila review channel has ever said.” So when he went to say “im working with Corazon (de Agave) be on the look out for when the bottle is in stores” i was like “if this brand does not say no additives on tequila match maker than this weird and the backlash he’s gotten for the carrera 54 is for a reason.” He’s leading people in the wrong direction. I feel like “no additive” tequila is not as unhealthy as tequila with additives just based on experience. So i searched Corazon (de Agave) on tequila match maker and sure enough none of their bottles are listed as “no additives”. I searched up known “no additives” tequilas and sure enough their bottles were listed as “no additives”. So i went back on the live and confronted him and he gets upset and he goes “additives are not bad and tequila match maker is a scam”. That’s when i went to his channel and found the 2 videos i mentioned. 😂 This rubbed me the wrong way. i need more explanation yes the CRT allows a small percentage of additives and that’s fine. Then there is tequila that is made with diffusers which is dookie so they put additives to make it taste okay to drink and this is bad.
Additives can impact your health. High sugars, calories, sweeteners,artificial flavors etc… additives are use to cover mistakes, make tequila taste better when its mass produced and corners are cut. So how can this possibly be good for your health or for tequila? My understanding is not all additives are bad for your health, but not good for tequila, you are getting a low quality product and a un-authentic product. Think of it like real horchata and artificially made horchata, you know what they want to make it taste like, but it’s not there and it never will be.
Glycerin and agave nectar are low glycemic both can be used as sweetners glycerin can also add body. Vanilla again everyone eats that so no health issues, same as caramel. Colorants Addie from Red #3 I don't believe there's any issues and I'm pretty sure that one isn't used in tequila. Reality is if they are less harmful to your health than a coca cola. As for TMM within sixonths that database will be obsolete as there will be no one working with the distilleries to keep up their "certification" also keep in mind that even Grover has said that there are plenty Additive free tequilas, that did not join the program so they will not have the TMM logo.
