In the first Terminator, the T-800 had to use a phone book to identify all the Sarah Connors in the phone book and eliminate them, because there was no visual record of Sarah Connor in the future. In Terminator 2, the T-1000 had to look up John Connor in the police car and later asked the foster parents for a photo. I'm not sure how the Dark Fate T-800 was able to track them down so easily given their anononimity and the likelyhood of them laying low under false identities. It all seemed rather convenient. Another issue I had with the movie was the ending. Spoiler Warning... I couldn't believe that despite Sarah Connor's experiences she leaves behind the skeletal remains and the possibly viable cpu of a T-800, the REV-9, and the enhanced body of Grace, for someone to find in the Dam that could be used to resurrect Skynet from oblivion and or create Legion.

Also, Tim was the reason Sonic had that first/second movie design in the first place before the director decide to hell with him and changed it for the current design we all love. Take that for what you will...

the training sequence for replacement john connor is even more idiotic when you realize the shotgun they gave her is a double barrelled, double magazine combat shotgun. it's infamous among gun collectors for being particularly unwieldy even for trained shooters... to the point where no military actually fields it. But hey, just what a 5-foot nothing teenaged girl needs to learn to be an instant badass.

I’m glad you made the contrast between Dark Fate and StarWars. It was like the CIA had instructed Hollywood to kill off all the greatest characters in pop culture and replace them with uh less problematic characters to fit in with their social engineering program. Lol It’s hard to believe they have people who suck this bad being allowed to get anywhere near these franchises. The story about how bad they suck, would make a better movie then the actual movies they’re making.

You can't kill all these franchises (Terminator, Predator, Alien, Star Trek or whatever else) because they are already dead. Modern cinema is for casuals who take nothing seriously. It's all some kind of entertainment without plausibility and coherence. Today's audience doesn't even know the originals which raises the question 'Who cares ?'

Terminator Dark Farce and the villain wasn't scary nor intimidating.

The whole Sarah plot with hunting terminators makes no sense. If Skynet has sent multiple terminators to multiple future times, as insurance in case the previous ones failed, then they're all arriving in a world where John is dead, they're without a mission. What would they do? Go on a rampage? (why?) Probably go inert or self-destruct, or go into interior decorating. In which case, why is Sarah hunting them, putting herself at risk for LITERALLY no reason.

“Clear the stage” yeah then why do you have Arnold terminator and the original Sarah Conner in the movie at all?!

I remember my mom tried to gate me to watch this movie I am done with the terminator because of what they have done to it. Terminator got me into sci fi action movies. Even my mother that is very woke even she thought that terminator doesn't need to be woke because it already was so they don't need to try so hard. A sequel to dick tracy from 1990 would of been more interesting.

T2 is in 1995. The Police files on John that the T-1000 reads says he's 10, and since the first movie is in May 1984, he would be born in early 1985, meaning he'd be 10 in 1995. If the opening to Dark Fate is 1998 then he should be 13 and going through puberty, looking and sounding radically different.

Old news or not; I can't get over it. Cameron and Miller talking about T1 and T2, how much they love the story, the care they will take and reassuring us that they'll make a great film. I was practically counting down the days till it's release. A year and a half later, I'm watching any angry review I can find on it. I really loved this one, sir. You hit every nail on the head!! All they needed to do was be faithful to the story.

Also, Deadpool is clearly the brainchild of Ryan Reynolds. Everything we like about that film was his idea. I'm positive the bland, generic plot was Tim Miller's contribution, since it's all he seems to be able to do.

What John should have been is a boss of a tech company attempting to make the Terminator as a father figure, while Daniel (Danny) Dyson is a Luddite attempting to sabotage any development into robotics because his father died to save humanity from Armageddon. More of a thriller drama series than a sci-fi action movie, but it would have been better as a start to grow the franchise. A Tony Stark like John facing against a Batman like DDyson. Both experts in computers, both trained soldiers, but with two different views what is best for humanity. Just the rage and betrayal DD would feel if he knew John was the one attempting to remake terminators would be worth exploring. If actual sci-fi is necessary, it could be included in the plot that John already succeeded in making an AI but it's content to quietly observe John and the other humans trying to figure out how to proceed seeing how its existence is controversial to humans.

It makes sense in theory that Terminators would still be appearing in the present. They were sent from one point in time in 2029, so they would still be appearing in whatever year they were sent to as time progresses, even though Skynet is destroyed in T2. It's not like Skynet still exists and is actively sending back more Terminators. Its more like Sarah is dealing with the remnants of Skynet. However, it still isn't consistent with the canon. The story was supposed to be that Skynet's defense grid was smashed and the humans won, so in a last ditch hail mary effort, Skynet hurriedly sends 2 Terminators (T-800 and T-1000) back in time to rewrite the past before the Time Displacement Complex is stormed by Resistance soldiers. But Dark Fate retcons this by saying Skynet sent a shitton more Terminators than 2. Furthermore, why would an additional Terminator sent back from the future be a Cyberdyne System Model 101 (Arnie)? You'd think Skynet would send different looking models to be less predictable instead of sending a Terminator Sarah and John had already seen before. Well, I guess they had to get old Arnie in the movie somehow.

the original 1984 TERMINATOR masterpiece will always be not only my absolute dearest of the series but one of my most beloved films in history because KYLE FUCKING REESE was in it and because it was a true master example of a true mix between Apocalyptic Horror and Sci-fi but with that said i also fuckign ADORE T4 SALVATION with all it's flaws F4 had a unique SOUL to it and a every different personality and again i need to say it was EXTREMELY FAITHFUL to it's source timeline something i will NEVER say about the true enemies of the terminator series that sadly were Genesys and Dark Fail fucki it just give me the sequel of SALVATION that it was always meant to happen the word SALVATION never had a greater cinematic Meaning

Salvation and The Sarah Connor Chronicles were the only sequels that works with T1 and T2... 3 and genesys don't work due to not understanding what to do. Meanwhile dark fate film shits on everything and ruins itself in the process.

I’m still amazed that of all the routes Terminator Dark Fate could have went, they chose to rehash every problem that Terminator 3, Salvation, and Genisys had. Other than the out of place comedy, what’s the big problem with T3? It contradicts the message of Judgment Day that you have the ability to change the future for the better. What does Dark Fate do to fix this? They kill off John Connor in the first minute of the movie not even a year after T2. I actually like Salvation, but Skynet’s plan was too convoluted. Dark Fate borrows the human Terminator idea from Salvation, and it’s stupid and confusing that an entirely different AI has the same exact robot designs and time travel plan that Skynet did. This is basically the dumbass third Death Star subplot of the Terminator franchise. What’s Genisys’s problem? It felt like “what if” fan fiction and Emilia Clarke was not a believable badass even if she is gorgeous. Dark Fate one ups that with Dani Reyes who was completely miscast, and even less believable as an action heroine while also being a worse actress. Dark Fate does everything the bad Terminator movies do, and it somehow does them worse. That’s without even mentioning how they destroy Sarah Connor’s character with her making condescending comments about motherhood that she would never say or how they completely cucked the T800

Remember how veteran soldier Kyle Reese treated even a single T-800 with dead seriousness even though he's spent his entire life fighting off killer robots? Meanwhile, Mexican Girl over here goes "i'M gOnNa StAnD aNd Fight" after witnessing the Rev-9 getting mildly inconvenienced by the combined efforts of the Feminator and Sarah Connor, the latter herself apparently treating Terminators with the same kind of nonchalance as a random encounter in an RPG. Everything after Terminator 2 was made for cash without any passion or love. I hate those never ending franchises. Makes me find new respect for the alternative Terminator 2 ending (also in that film's official novelization), that ended the story for good.

I remember the interview between Tim and Cameron before the release of the film, Tim was downright teary-eyed about how honored he is to continue the movie series, and how they are doing a lot of things in the new movie with practical enhancements. After Deadpool, I was hopeful that Tim would realize what makes the terminator good...but what a disappointment The Woken One 6 was. Even Cameron himself is no longer interested in the quality of terminators, he just makes sales pitches about them whenever a new one comes out.

I'm one of those few who loved Terminator 3, and I was alright with Salvation...it was flawed as fuck but it was a step in the right direction. For decades I have been waiting for a film about the future war....and here I am still waiting, only now I know that I will never get it. I'm fucking sick of the time travel bullshit.

I know the film is trash but the ending scene of the t 800 sacrifice scene was really emotional to me. This will probably be Arnie’s last outing as the t 800 and seeing the character evolve over the years from remorseless robot to “for John” def put a tear in my eye. We’ll never get a too see what a proper James Cameron directed t3 would of looked like but nonetheless I enjoyed this franchise for what is was. I am weary of Terminator it was once an excellent couple of films, T1and T2 and has become a tired rehash of sequels.

I am not a woman but I consider myself a feminist. Hollywood is getting lazy and repetitive. What we need is strong and ORIGINAL women/female protagonists front and center. There are a lot of colorful and smart and interesting people in this world and they are not all men. It's actually insulting to say that women aren't interesting enough or smart enough or strong enough to have their own franchise. So instead let's just take an existing property and gender-swap the characters. That should make the feminists happy. It really doesn't. It's just lazy.

I started watching this the other night and I only got about 25 minutes in and I was done!

The only way to redo the franchise and delete anything after T2 (though T3 and Salvation had some redeeming qualities) is to make a film where you show the struggles of John Connor to send Kyle Reese and the T-800 back in time to stop the first two terminators.

Watched this on its own and waited a while. I rewatched T1 (my favorite), T2, Battle Across time then Salvation and now my pallet is clean.

Remember when the T-101/800 was an unstoppable killing machine. Matched by none, and to be feared because it’s gonna GITCHYA!!. Now ..yeah one RPG blast takes care of it. Too bad Kyle didn’t get himself one of those in the first movie .. would’ve ended pretty early eh!

Killing John didn't just undermine the past movies but Dark fate itself. If killing John changed nothing, just someone else becomes the savior of mankind and Skynet rebrands then it means if this mexican girl dies it won't matter or change anything either. T2 came out in 1991, but its supposed to take place in 1997. So Sarah and John looking the same in 1998 makes sense. When the T1000 looks up Johns criminal record in the cop car computer in T2, you can briefly see dates up to 1997.

The thing is, this was a writer from the Terminator TV show - and the whole time I got the feeling, “this would actually be a great season cliffhanger, multi-part story arc on the TV show... *but this is a movie”.* You got the feeling they wanted more than one movie to tell this story but...movies don’t work like that. It’s just the wrong format. So was I angry about this movie? Actually not. I was...”discouraged”, the whole time shaking my head “this would have worked as a TV show story arc...ending with a time travel reset with John alive again at the end” (I got the feeling they were building to that)

I love your passion, man. I can tell that you are using all your senses to fully enjoy first two movies, so i can understand this kind of anger and hate, coming from you. I am not saying, that insulting is a good thing, but when the main director is insulting not only all those characters and movies, that are to this day - unbeatable with their effects - but also that legacy is now so fucked up, cause these assholes, that are making forced movies, for money and mainly political correction. And let's be honest: even Deadpool was a piece of shit. That movie has only cool outfit of the main character, but nothing else. Forced jokes, everywhere at any moment. CGI action bullshit, with PG13 and annoying Reynolds. That movie is just so linear, hollow and cheap.

They should have made a Terminator movie called, ''Terminated'' Have it be the cyber war. A war movie to end all war movies. Tons of robots fighting people to the death. That would have been an exciting film. Maybe ease up on the CGI. It's okay in some scenes. But when it looks like crap. It takes everyone out of the film. Practical effect look better. And have everyone move in a normal way. Don't make the robots super fast. That's just dumb. Normal speed looks real.

I personally liked the movie and loved Grace but would like to contribute to your criticisms. It is 'noticeable' how the officer who gets the EMP device is black. Notice that when the Rev-9 goes to refugee detention center is disguised as a black woman. The message here, in my humble opinion, is that black people don;t appreciate how cool it is to be a US citizen, unlike Dani's brother who desperately wants to be American and imitates them. In short, its racist while pretending to be woke! Also, the decision for LEGION to be kill Dani in the past isn;t rational since she didn;t defeat LEGION in the future. John Conner did that in the first movie, so why bother killing her in the past?!!
