@JohnnyTheWolf Eh licensed games still have a terrible reputation despite it being proven that there are exceptions to that belief. Plus the Terminator franchise hasn't exactly been doing well past the 2nd movie.
@@signer0001 For developers that made the Rambo arcade "he's a man not a god" bullshit made this game, and it is a hell of a step up for them, even if game doesn't live up to modern standards it visually is very great and they nailed atmosphere here. Textures are weak, but it doesn't really ruin the game for me. Gameplay like I said, doesn't live up to the standards, but it definitely is something fun. They did good on this one, I enjoyed playing, especially near the end with the 1:1 scene of the T1 where Kyle talked about John, and then the scene pops out of John walking through the resistance shelter and then looking through binoculars, oh man that was a great fan service :D wish it had a more power Terminator theme going in the background since it wasn't strong enough, but the scene was great. Now, if they consider to make another game, I hope they will improve, since nothing was wrong in this game, it simply lacked stuff to be more. Indeed a solid 7. 5 for average shooter, +1 for nailing atmosphere, +1 for nailing Terminator animations. It is a good start for them. I would support these developers by buying this particular game, thought it isn't really worth 40$, but more around 30-35$ range.
I just bought this game, and so far so good (first 10 minutes at least) For me its been T1, T2 and T:The Sarah Connor Chronicles This fucking song gives me fucking hope for this game though
Before you complain about the game ,remember that it's made by a small studio with limited budget. It's not some AAA blockbuster with exceptional graphics
Actually maybe it´s better it´s not AAA blockbuster. Graphics are good, I liked the film grain that actually worsened the graphics. Because in result I felt more like in that old movies. Teyon did their job really good.
They took the theme, subtracted all the modern pop culture influence and upped the 80s tenfold. I adore it. This is what it sounds like when Sarah Connor spends years training herself to be a badass warrior with the memory of the machine grabbing for her neck.
Knew about this before Gmanlives covered it. Don't know why the physical copies for consoles were delayed in the US but the Steam version launched same day as Europe/Australia. Appreciated his review though. Honest one unlike the baloney IGN one.
The unknown future rolls toward the Terminator franchise. I face it, for the first time, with a sense of hope. The composer of this is not a man, he's a God
The key of E flat minor and the synthesized undertones made it sound like a more modernized version of the first film's theme (Wow, this is the most amount of likes on a comment I've got. Thanks folks)
Yes definitely has the T1 vibe and I appreciate that a lot since the future war scenes played a significant role in that film and were not just an intro like in T2.
The game may not have the shiniest graphics, but where it excels is capturing the atmosphere and mood of Terminator, evidenced by this theme alone. The videos I have seen of its gameplay shows that great Terminator stories are still possible.
Yes, HK Aireal flying over you while you duck in the rubbles, T800 walking past you while you are holding your breath in the vents, That exact colours that was in the opening of T1, black, grey and white. They should leave films and completely transfer Terminator series into games... It's actual potential Is here
@@OrenTubing Why a different Studio? These Guys Proved that they have whats needed to make a good Terminator Game, all they need is a Bigger Budget and enough Time.
The soundtrack and the game are actually atmospheric. Of course the graphics are not modern, but it is not as important as the gameplay. This game is much better than the wretched Dark Fate. The real sequel to Terminator 2 should be like this game this game just didn’t have enough budget. And yes, time travel, salvation is already tired. We need a war with machines, and not nonsense about the cybog of a family man who sews curtains, and no Legion is only John Connor and Skynet.
Not only is this rendition of the terminator theme awesome, but I really like the cover art for this game, showing the T-800 with half human skin and half endoskelton, looks both badass and terrifying as it should be.
What amazed me the most about Terminator: Resistance is that after I heard it was being developed by the people who made Rambo: The Video Game, I didn’t have high hopes for it, yet it’s turning out to be one of the best movie licensed games to come along in a long while. Tons of fanservice, great sound design, gameplay that holds its own, and quite possibly the best rendition of the Terminator theme ever composed. This is like the Ouija: Origin of Evil of video games right here.
So true. T2 is my fave movie of all time and the endless sequels have disappointed me for 20 years and especially Dark Fate and what they did to John. But then this game comes out of nowhere and gives me the story i wanted to see for 30 years. The future war and John winning with kyle being sent back at the end. They did it in this game. This should be a movie!
It's crazy really, what got me was how faithful they were to the source material and presented the lore not only accurately but expanded on it in a new and refreshing way. Games a 6 or 7 out of 10 but the terminator fan in me gives it a solid 9.
@@MatticusFinch1820 its just unbelievable for so many years no one in hollywood gets it the fans want future war the way James Cameron imagined it.. Not some mad max transformers mesh up. Instead they kill John Connor...
Other gamers: buys RDR2, Fallen Order, NFS Heat, AOE 2 Definitive Edition. Me: Definitely gonna buy this. Nostalgia, just the way I imagined a Terminator game should be. Thank u devs.
@@tristanbackup2536 Correct. outer Worlds was great too. But Resistance has stolen my heart with the authenticity & attention to detail vis-a-vis the 1st 2 Terminator films.
I bought this and Fallen Order, i beat Terminator this weekend, now im started a new game....Jedi has to wait. I want to spend more time in this future war!
The Terminator deserves to be brought back in all its glory. Dark Fate made me so depressed, I had just about given up on the franchise.... Then this game comes along, with this glorious rendition! 80s Synth, mixed with 80s Metal, now THIS is Terminator.
@@AquaFan1998Salvation was good, but it bombed at the cinemas so we never got the rest of the proposed trilogy. Christian Bale as John Connor was awesome though!
It needs to be brought back even further back from T2 and to its T1 noir-sci-fi roots IMO. Lets go back to man-vs machine please, as good as T2 was, we don't need to keep living in T2's shadow.
@@AquaFan1998 Despite it's faults, Salvation at least tried something different, and TRIED the future shit. It's the least offensive of the post-t2 films.
@@JediPiIotyeah Salvation really tried to give us the war movie. I love the fact we got see the T600 in action and see the T700s being made. The Salvation video game was also good.
3 years later, still officially the REAL Terminator 3 in my book, and this is how the movie should of been. We know a time loop was established, and just let the movie be the entire Future war, or at the very least divy it up to like a part 1 and part 2 movies.
Just finished the game on PS4. I know from a critical point of view this game didn't do well but f*ck critics, I love this game! For what the studio is, with the little budget they had, they did a fantastic job! I hope next time they get big budget and make another Terminator game because you could tell they were passionate about this project.
Actually, the game is doing critically very good on Steam. Its hacks like Metacritic and IGN who are giving it a bad review, people who don't know what a game is even if it dangled in front of them.
Those critics are the same that give the last of us 2 or call of duty a 10/10 Hell, they don't even finish games or rush them to get a review as soon as possible.
@@justsomegamer6719 I wouldn't trust the opinion of IGN on a saltine cracker let alone a video game, and Metacritic is an agrogate website, which basically means they average out reviews collected on the internet. Their "opinion" is whatever the average is, which, given the number of bad faith review places like Kotaku and IGN (Among many others), means You should take EVERY Review score on Meta critic with more than a few grains of salt.
Dark Fate is ultimate shit, the worst Terminator movie yet. I saw only a few movies that suck that much. So I think it´s not that hard for anything to be better than that movie. But Resistance is really quite good, so balance has been restored in the universe :))
This is fantastic! Well done! It feels very much like a modern spin on the original theme, without feeling TOO modern, so it's still within reach of that 1984 style. Awesome!
This is probably one of the best versions of the main theme I have heard in recent years. It's obvious that Teyon was milking this game with love and passion. Something we all deserved after years of disappointment. This game needs to be played by every Terminator fan.
Unironically one of if not the best version of the Terminator theme ever and the best thing to come out of the Terminator franchise since Terminator 2. This game right here, it may not be the best game ever, it may have its problems, but DAMNIT it was made with Love and Respect for the fans and the Terminator franchise and it's a satisfying and fitting end to the story. This game will always be one of my favorites, because it was made by people who cared.
With a limited budget, they defiantly pulled of some amazing art, we must reward Reef Entertainment for this & to keep at it with the likes of Odison & CDPR.
@@ISAFSoldier They care more about the fans rather then stretching their game out to pull a broader audience. That's not necessarily a bad thing in this case since the game is pretty good while respecting the lore and source material. I hope they make more content for it like they planned.
True, I was expecting a part where you are shooting from a running pickup or something like that. Some parts were a bit empty but for the budget they had it was just awesome...
Finished the game a few days ago. Absolutely brilliant. They absolutely nailed the 'feel' of the future war scenes from the first 2 movies, particularly the HKs and Terminators. Seriously impressive for a small studio with a limited budget. Just imagine what they could have done with more money. A big budget, Triple-A Terminator game that ups the horror elements a bit has me salivating at the idea.
😭😭 It's so damn good. I feel like I'm in the resistance from terminator 2 future war scenes. It's such a powerful theme..but the game itself seems underwhelming.. this on top of myself watching terminator salvation for the very first time and it isn't good either. I watched T3 the other night & it was the perfect ending to this beautiful franchise.. 😭
Some positive views here! I guess I need to carry on playing it. I just didn't like the initial shooting mechanics and dialogue to begin with. Graphics look great and it has potential, let's see
This game is underrated. Best Terminator game hands down. That last level hits hard bro. Storming the *spoiler* and hearing this theme is sooooooo good.
The soundtracks that blew me away from the first time were: Terminator Resistance Main and End Theme and Metro Last Light - Echoes of the Past and The Farewell. Amazing vibes and emotions.
Excellent theme! It really captures the vibes from the Original Movies and that awsome feeling when you remember them! This game, this melody, is what the direct continuation of T2 should be with John and Sarah still alive and both leading the Resistance this time around! Because Skynet is inevitable ;). And NOT that "April Fool's Day" of a Terminator Movie!
All i need is: - Terminator 1 - Terminator 2 - Terminator 3 (yes, it has flaws but for the most part it still feels like terminator and act 3 was great) - Salvation (So underrated) - Resistance (Great Game, feels almost like a Sequel to Salvation)
Like some others, I *only* consider The Terminator, Terminator 2: Judgement Day, and Resistance here as canon/existing. And perhaps "The Sarah Connor Chronicles" too... Everything else from the third film and the utter garbage that was Dark Fate/Fart never happened as far as I'm concerned. 😎
I bought only to live out my fantasy of participating in the war against skynet in a rundown apocalyptic LA. And it did not disappoint, it is actually more fun than I expected. :)
I don't do it since Terminators aren't going to kill themselves and I have to be there to help them with that. LA needs a saviour in stopping Skynet and that is what I do especially if I am on the other side of the Annihilation Line
Dude...The Love and Dedication in this game..,It puts those wrenched AAA movie devs to shame. Seriously...for the budget this game is actually pretty decent if you put aside the flaws. If they had a AAA budget, trust me.The game would have been a Solid FPS But Like...From Rambo to This is like a Major Level up on the dev part alone. These guys weren't kidding when they want make a solid Terminator game and they delivered..it had the atmosphere, the plot, the weapons, the sounds and the enemies ripped straight from the classic two flims..hell This game has THE Legendary John Conner from T2 and his performance is soild af and didn't disappoint.
The soundtrack to this game is without a doubt... PERFECT!!! They NAILED the traditional themes and kept it original. This game was brilliantly done. Filled with intense fear and chills and loaded with action,.. and a bit sexy too lol. The story was perfectly aligned with the original stories of T1 and T2. They stayed loyal to the fans and kept it original. Even kept the original sound effects of the Plasma Rifles. Definitely the BEST Terminator game ever to exist. 5 Stars for this game. James Cameron needs to crown this game. Because they did not disrespect his masterpiece of film making.
Gotta hand it to them The studio that made Terminator Resistance really redeemed themselves after the flop that was the Rambo video game. I hope to see more from them in the future
A beautiful piece of music. I think of the moment when I saw Terminator 2 at 12, one of the first Western Achtion films in the Eastern Bloc. I'm just running all the way down the back and I'm excited as when I was 12 years old.
From my point of view, this is the best game of the terminator created at all, and the scenario of the game was fit to be the third part because the story of the movie ended in the second part and the rest of the parts were trivial and just a trade ... This part explained how to send thaT 800 and who stole the procesor and in it A hint for Kyle ryis and the best thing that I liked is the end scene when John Connor goes from the bunker to the battlefield and behind him Jacob, and this scene is present at the beginning of the Tarminator 2 .... and there is a close link between it and the first two parts of the film ... A wonderful game Bravo Studio Reef and Tycoon did a great job
James Cameron has managed to kill terminator with everything that goes with it. God i want a terminator movie without gender garbage with a clear line like in part 1 & 2 and neat karismatic actors. Brock Lesnar, Scott Adkins, Nathan Jones, but wehr replaces Arnold his children hardly have Carisma?
@@DaScorpionSting Behind it is a feminist agenda, I'm sure. It was definitely an order from the top. The female Thor, Captain Marvel where every white one is evil for you. So the inventors of modernity, technology science. Ariel, the mermaid has to be black (she has to), women have to roll in male roles & men have to roll in women. Result of all this gender mainstreaming are mostly empty box office, films that nobody wants. Tomorrow will a blonde gender woman play Martin Luther King? John Connor was already too female in Terminator 3, now he really is.
