Very nice comparison. This shows me that they're definitely trying to prevent the problem that they had with the frames in the past. And all the updates are quite significant. Wonderful bike!!! And, as usual, excellent video!!!

WOw! Power in Motion you are mi hero, you really, really know about bycicles and about your customer and what they need or want to know. You always outstand your only high standars, going in big detail in order to help to take the right and very well informed decision. The people of Canada are very lucky to have such a dealer as you Power in Motion. Thank you so much as always!

Eze Eze, or hello Japan! Thank you for your compliment! I think knowledge is meant for sharing. If I have inside information, and have good understand what it mean. Those information should be available to everyone. And this is how we improve and gain knowledge by making the video. Once again, we are glad that you like the video and find it useful!

Great video from Power in motion. Very informative. Just picked up 2 new 2016 Tern Node D8's and very impressed. I'm coming from a Dahon Speed P8. I was looking for a 24 inch folder and didn't like what Dahon had to offer. The Node D8 is very classy looking, sturdy, comfy and rides like a dream. They fold pretty compact but obviously not as compact as the 20 inch folders. I look forward to commuting with my new Node D8.

Brandon is the node8 a quick bike.. compared to the d8.. And has it enough gears for hills. Thanks..

The comments about the stiffness and adjustability of the stem and handlebars are really spot-on. I have a Dahon Speed D7 and like it very much but the adjustable-height stem drives me crazy: Every time I unfold it to ride I have to take extra time to line up the stem and the fork - which is maybe easier for some people than it is for me - and every time I fold it I have to take extra time to raise the stem into folding position but not so high that it pops out of the head tube.

John Hammer, thank you for your honor comment, and share this with everyone here. A good design will make everything easier. However, without understand it or not able to explain why (knowledge vs understanding) it was better design. It will be just another RU-vid video or just another folding bike. Once again, thank you for watching!

I have two Dahon Speed D7s and get around that problem with a simple solution: I leave the handlebar posts up when folding! I store the bikes in Dahon bags with the handlebar posts sticking out and just pop the bagged D7s in the back of my van when travelling to a location to use them. Not ideal but works for my situation. The 2010 bikes were bought used for less than 1/2 the new price which allowed me to upgrade the tires (Big Apple 2.0 front, Marathon 1.75 back) and add Ergon grips, new comfier saddles, sealed bearing Shimano bottom brackets, Mirrycle rearview mirrors, a new Tern cargo rack and a spacious rear rack bag. Great little bikes that have the better, hill climbing 11-30 gearing. I love the ol' D7s!

I forgot to mention that I also added the Aber Hallo handlebar stem to my wife's bike which functions somewhat like the new fancy adjustable Tern handlebar (and that is a real beauty). It brings the bar closer to my wife so she doesn't have to reach as far. Great little accessory! I saw it mentioned in the gear section of the Dahonies blog and that's how both of them used it -- to reduce the reach to their bars.

Great video. I like the details you mention especially the tubing. Can you also say something about 6061 vs 7008 if i am not mistaken
@PowerInMotion
@PowerInMotion 8 лет назад
James, thank you for kind word! Tern did not specific what type of aluminium for the frame, the best guess is 6061. However, Montague folding bike frame are make out of 7005 aluminium. 6000 series aluminium are mainly with magnesium, tends to be a bit more dectile. Where 7000 series aluminium are primarily zinc. It tend to be harder and stronger compare to 6000 series.

In your experience, which is stronger; FBL joint or the OCL joint?

hi again last thing i d like to ask ... the speed and timing i used to use shimano (3*5 speed)that for 8km from home to work it takes 35mn i d like to know if dahonvybe d7 or tern d 8 are quite speedy or not , how much time is gonna take for 8 km . thanks alot
@PowerInMotion
@PowerInMotion 7 лет назад
The D8 had 52T chain ring, the Vybe had smaller chain ring, the more teeth of the chain ring, the high speed that you can achieve.

Great video ! Are these improvement also in other Tern, like Link D8 ?
@PowerInMotion
@PowerInMotion 8 лет назад
Kwan Lai: Very good question. It depends which country you are in, model could have differ features in the differ country. In Canada, The Link D8 had the new adjustable stem. A bit wider frame and toolless adjustable handle post, just like the Node D8. However no rack on Link D8.

Look like it is across the board, all 2016 line this improvement. I see the Link D8 , has Gen 2 handlepost and stem and it come with Big Apple tire, and different saddle. I think these just like those you mentioned. Think it is worth to pay US$150 more to get the 2016 version ,the improvement looks very nice. 2015 version sell at 590 now.

Kwan Lai, i think you wanted adjustable stem or Gen 2 handlepost, for me, it is worth it. It makes the ride more comfortable. However, I have not had the chance to test out if the new adjustable stem can be apply to old model. If it is, then you can just upgrade it new hardware onto the old model.

for ex, i need one to go and get back from work , the distance is 8 or 9 km, and my hight is 1.70 m, so which one do u think suits me better? thank u in advance
@PowerInMotion
@PowerInMotion 8 лет назад
8 km is very short distance, you are under 6', our recommendation is go for smaller wheel size such as 20" for compact and storage. A tern D8 is good bike, and for cheaper price Dahon vybe D7 will be fit for value product.
