@@Perrirodan1 yea no... as it stands currently even the US would struggle to take on the other nato members, yet alone their arch nemesis in the pacific , Japan. Numbers? Shure, they MIGHT win, tech inovation and actual industrial capacity? Nope not anymore. US lost that race years ago. They can do War and Military shure, but their people will suffer and with connection to the net etc. they would riot quiet fast. Remember WW1 and 2 where ONLY POSIBLE given the majority didnt know the facts. For WW1 it was actualy a British mission to lure them into war and WW2 the population did NEVER get the whole picture and NEVER where told that the US actualy did shoot first at japanese ships near pearl within that 1 hour time that yamamoto gave them (so basicaly not only did the US high ups knew about the attack comming but also they wanted it given their power hungry)

I did it by 2038, spoiler, You get Canada all the way down to Panama. great boost and mission control. But you need more armies when the invasion occurs if at all.

if you go EU opening the best outcome is actually to merge ukraine into the EU - which I consider a reasonably happy ending if you're doing a democratic EU run

It both is and isn't. But it certainly makes a weird sense when you remember that a shadowy cabal has taken control of the governments of BOTH nations. Given how it works, rivalry should not be interpreted literally, as in "this nation is a close competitor of ours", but rather as "this nation has bad relations with us".

It's probably a gameplay necessity. That, and North Korea considers itself a rival to the US.

There will be specific strategies around "they do not come in peace" I think. I think leveraging the starting advantage will be vital before the event hits. The Academy has other issues, but those are spoilers I think

One trick I saw was grab a lot of easy control points ie Africa right before the event and gamble that they take more African county's than your main one

The demo it was easier to control a large amount of nations. They've significantly increased the amount each CP costs, and it also makes every point more vulnerable to takeover.

knowing later on the aliens like to bombard from space (academy anyway) ... getting the resources off the moon early and quickly is important .. mars can wait ... the moon needs to be strip mined of useful goods so yoou can get your space fleet started sooner than later so you can defend your assets ...
