There seems to be a problem with how you capture the game's screen. It's shifted to the left. Part of the game is off-screen on the left and there is a black bar on the right.
@@PerunAU Part of the problem is that an ungodly number of people think of a structure like that featured in _TNG_ episode "Relics," rather than the swarm of satellites Freeman Dyson originally intended.
@@boobah5643 he didn’t intend that either lol, it was a thought experiment relating to a societies increasing demand for energy, not an engineering project.
Absolutely railed by the delivery of "If we ever need to cool the planet we can always just launch nukes, ehh, but that tends to have other negative impacts on the economy, for reasons."
I made a real push in the lead up to EA release as the Discord crowd were so keen for any content before they could play. Content will slow down now but keep coming.
Man, I swear these episodes are strategic game crack cocaine or something. I desperately need to stop myself from buying the game tomorrow lest I fail a university paper. Looking forward to the next episode, thanks for producing them so regularly!
Same boat here, I am lucky enough to not have a laptop capable of playing it yet, but have one coming from home soon. Its gonna be difficult to resist the temptation.
I had that exact thing happen when I got back into stellaris. Electrical engineering isn’t forgiving of divided attention. I shudder to think what would happen if I got into this game.
As excited as I am to finally get my hands on this game, I'm also really hoping the modders make a non-alien invasion overhaul mod. Drastically reduce the management caps, alter the tech tree, and turn this bad boy into an illuminati sim.
@@DKforever24 Thank goodness, they were driving me mad. I have close to 100 discord channels and figuring out how the hell one of them had unmuted suddenly was not great.
Ceres seems more like a "second chance" kind of body, if you were too slow to get the good spots on Mars, while Mars has more resources overall for less delta-v if you're good enough to get there first.
Exactly as you say, I think it'll be really important for higher difficulty playthroughs (difficulty or faction wise) so that you can get water while the AI beelines Mars.
I wonder how effective the static defenses like Layered Defense Arrays are in protecting bases from alien retaliations. If you only need a module slot or two rather than a fleet to defend an asteroid base, that'd be pretty boss--I know an alien warship tried to attack my shipyard with 3 layered defense arrays and ran away in shame after almost being destroyed and doing no damage. I don't know how it works with ground-based installations though.
Surprised you haven't checked out Mars's Moons, in the demo they had decent resources. Enjoying the playthrough, happy to see the AI making more decisions compared to that.
Terra Invicta finally brought something new to the 4x/Xcom genre. Instead of reskins of civ, or other classical titles it actually implemented a lot of novel features and it's fun to play. A lot of 4x games leave out a lot of "empire management" and politics but here you have to manage everything from climate change to space exploration and research where its harder to get ahead of the ai like in other 4x games
I do love the cold hard logic and reasoning this game is built on, and Peruns gameplay is like the structured deliberate council of competent strategists, that are working for the faction in question.
Bro these episodes and this game I'm super hyped for. Loving the look of the AI being able to actually achieve longterm goals, hopeful that'll provide a good challenge to players
Just wanted to thank you for giving us such a thorough preview of this game. I'm likely to buy Terra Invicta tomorrow thanks to you showcasing this great looking gamr
Note that you can also put stations around the Lagrange points, so you've actually got 37 slots that have the energy output of Mercury. (I don't think they're considered to be near Mercury for the purposes of construction modules though, so you'll have to send ships or platforms from earth)
This is why the 'setting our goal' research is so quick and simple for Humanity First. "Boss, how should we respond to the arrival of aliens?" "Apply firepower until they stop moving - if that doesn't work, continue to apply more firepower and repeat"
Isn't Zeno the Greek who reasoned his way to never arriving anywhere, because you had to go halfway first? And then half the remaining distance. And then half of what was left. Infinite recursion.
I somehow miss your EU run, but still very enjoyable to watch this one. Terra Invicta is an absolute gem of a game, especially when Presented by Perun but I still have to ask how likely it is for previously played games (Phoenix Point as mentioned in the About page or HighFleet) to reappear on this channel and in what timeframe? This is in no way a demand btw, just interested. Glad you manage to have some time available to relax with video games and share them and thanks a lot for the content (on both channels).
@@r3dp9 No complaints from my side. Possible scenario would be to finish the current Humanity First run, then another game and then a different TI run. Not sure about 2 games at the same time.
"the protectorate has now racked up 3 atrocities!" *Remembers atrocities are bad.* *Sees that he still has the most atrocities.* "THIS IS NOT A WIN CONDITION OR SOMETHING TO BE PROUD OF!" Au contraire, Monsieur. The Geneva Suggestion gave us a scoring system, and we are gonna compete to see who can rack up the most!
I like monopolizing Ceres. Great water and large enough body that committing to it's defense is justifiable. Also, 16 Psyche is a great Asteroid to mine and it often orbits near Ceres.
@@PerunGamingAU Large amounts of Noble Metals. In my game it has a 32 Noble Metal and 63 Base Metal Yield. Ceres provides the Water and Volatiles while 16 Psyche gives the metals. Great part of the asteroid belt.
This is super helpful for when I start my own run. Those pixels being cut off at the left hand side of the screen, though. Any chance of getting them back? :D
Exodus has been impressive in my game as well. They've taken plenty of high science nations and have been leading the global science priorities down a lot of the right space techs, and I'm happy enough to just back them up at the start.
This game reminds me so much of the Fear series - Fear the Sky, Fear the Survivors, and Fear the Future. Pretty much exactly same plot - massive conspiracy to industrialize space once an Alien infiltration team is discovered about 20 years ahead of the main fleet - complete with atrocities, Aliens who are ONLY afraid of nukes, agents doing covert shit, Aliens installing puppet regimes, etc etc. Amazing game, amazing books.
I bet the other factions feel annoyed when you are just casually directing all of humanities advancements towards war against their will! At least the Resistance and Exodus will appreciate your tech race. Just got to watch out for a long term Servant space fleet with all the advanced rockets you'll be unlocking!
If you sell your Lunar bases, I hope you sell them to Project Exodus. I really want them to succeed. Then again, The Resistance having them would be better for your goals to protect Earth.
I know I'm late, but my thought would have been: Take the Ceres good point so no one else can. Then sell it to Exodus or Resistance. Edit: After all, they are fairly friendly, and giving Exodus in particular a boost that lets them take the better locations elsewhere earlier than the other factions only benefits your locational monopolies, as the Exodus win condition does not interfere with that of other factions.
I wonder if I should take a shot whenever you say "this is were we are going to finish our episode" I think you started to say that around minute 30 which is about the halfway point of the video. Now going into the episode, really liked how you are setting things up, I am sure I would have taken Ceres and most likely end up having to shut down some mines in order to get the Mercury orbital to start the mission control train, which would have most likely overextended my forces, although I might still try that when the game comes out to see if I can create 2 different classes of ships for defense, one that is basically the equivalent to a coastal defense monitor for garrisoning planets and a long range cruiser for the defense of the asteroids (and maybe for some offense and/or reinforcement?)
Is the "Restoring the Warsaw Pact" project still cheap ? Might be a good option for expanding Russia and possibly expanding it to 5 CPs which would give you increased control without breaking your pact with the resistance.
From what I've gathered, those projects only allow you to expand the federation if you can convince the prospective member state that they want to join. The likelihood that a Resistance controlled nation would choose to join a Humanity First controlled federation seems... less than likely. Which means you'd have to go to war with the Resistance either behind the scenes or more obviously to gain control, and then consolidate that control by having your newly-controlled nation choose to join your federation.
@@PerunAU thank you for the clarification. I always felt Venus was likely an easier colonization spot than Mars (aerostat style). But that isn’t quite as useful for industry.
@@elijahsnow3119 The game doesn't seem to do much on the megastructure front. Perhaps explained by the hostilities; a megastructure, after all, is a big target and resource sink. On the other hand, a cheap method out of Earth's gravity well would be handy...
I think it would be much more immersive if it was more expensive to go to Mars if you aren't in the right launch windows. But I'm guessing once you go further than the moon it becomes too restrictive and unfun. I just caught his comment that there is an impact on flight time.
Screw You Perun! 😄 I just finished binge watching the last 4 episodes and there's already another one. I need a break to get some work done my man. These are too good.
I think the two factions I'm most looking forwards to playing are the Servants and Project Exodus. Those two sound like they have very different play styles compared to the rest.
I'm really excited for this game tomorrow. Not going to have a ton of time to play it, but I'll at least be able to listen to your playthrough while at work.
You seem to know the tech tree by heart.😅 every time making split second decisions on what to research next. I get it that it’s a cut video, but it seems like you really do know it very well. How many hours have you sunk in the game?😂
Sir, wanted to take this time to thank you for this fantastic run and for introducing me to this brilliant gem of a game. Delighted that I found both your channels. Many thanks from "sunny" England
This is such a fucking cool game man. This is the first playthrough that I have watched and watching everything unfold from taking over a country. To taking over and industrializing worlds/asteroids? in the future. To eventually kicking some alien ass has been incredible so far. I couldn't ever devote the time to learn and become good enough at this game to do it myself. So thanks for making this series. Looking forward to watching the rest of it.
It might be a bit late but for the renaming of your bases and stations you need to press the Pencil Icon on the left side next to the name of the place when your on the screen and trying to build stuff on your bases and stations. I think thats what you have been looking for to be able to rename everything.
Again,. great series and fascinating game. Servants seem like the clear top rival on Earth, so looking forward to see how you will take them down some notches!
@@PerunAU Whoops! 100% - I was looking at the stats screen you showed around 58:53 and meant to say the Protectorate are the ones doing a lot of heavy hauling for the aliens at this point, even though the Servants are more radical. It's really interesting in this game how each faction really seems to be *trying* to get stuff done in the name of their values/goals! Good luck with all that editing! :D
so I came here from the other channel and I've mostly been watching the military economics and ukraine war analysis stuff but this game looks like fun. great stuff.
watching those vids reminds me of first terran vilani war from traveller, especially with how humanity first is gonna get their bases plastered with alien tac nukes
I think you have some offset in your OBS/recording software. Looks like there is ~10px gap on the right and cutoff on the left. No big issue tho. Enjoying the episodes, can't wait for more! :D
It seems to me like assassinating a councilor when another faction is at near, at, or especially a bit over their control cap would absolutely cripple them. The Protectorate especially right now, since they presumably have a whole bunch invested in their councilors to get their cap that high.
Damn, I have been *eagerly* awaiting the launch of Terra Invicta all weekend. It's *exactly* the sort of hard-sci-fi space strategy game I've been hoping to see for years.
"It's not that I'm against nuclear weapons, humanity first really likes nuclear weapons I just don't like it when other people have them." So... Basically anybody with access to nukes lmao
I wonder if the aliens also have factions like Earth does. It would be interesting to find out later that the aliens are just as split on what to do with humanity as humanity is on what to do about them. (Of course, they still need to be eradicated. Humans could never exist alongside a competing species.)
The colonisation of the solar system in this game is weirdly scientifically accurate. You would want to spam bases on Mercury in real life, just BECAUSE of that high energy output. Which would eventually lead to a Dyson Swarm. Asteroid mining in real life would be AMAZING because of the high mineral levels in asteroids, and IRL you don’t have to think about defence because aliens aren’t invading (yet). I think this game is really well researched.
Thinking of lore ways to explain the Servants in the UK, the Queen isn't dead and turns out to be an alien, UK population are thrilled by this and since she's head of state and religion, it all just falls into place.
I think perun already researched at least one tech that had "global nuclear power tech level incresed by 1" or something like that as one of its efects. The more techs like that the more options related to nuclear power will be unlocked in event. And I imagine the better solar panels might give you another option here.
6:15 I guess that could be the case, but it's hard for me t believe that a civilization advanced enough to have traveled to the Solar system from another (I mean, it seems unlikely they evolved in Sol like us, we only seem to have found some outposts of theirs not a homeworld) star system, to achieve the delta vee they have, with the technology they display simply through the movement of their starships, it's hard to believe that such a civilization would lack the ability to shoot down some (comparatively) primitive missiles. Especially since a prerequisite for being able to travel through space at relativistic speeds would require quite good point defense systems to shoot down meteors. And without the atmosphere to provide diffusion, I'd imagine laser based anti missile systems would be quite effective for starships. So yeah. I dunno if I'm just applying too much reality to something the game doesn't want me to think about, or if it is kosher with the game's actual lore.
Thank you for the video's. Looking forward for the release soon. It seems like the screen recording has shifted to the left, on the left a bit of the screen is missing and on the right is a black bar.
Hello Perun, and everyone else that's enjoying this fantastic series. I've been playing Terra Invicta and I've had a fun run where I basically stole all admin orgs from all other factions and spread them out throughout my councilors, the question that I have is that I'm concerned about burning bridges. As I've started watching your series I've noticed that you're quite chill with every faction that doesn't have opposing goals. What gives? Am I burning too many bridges and making the AI fuck me over? Am I screwing the Earth over because I hog all the goodies while other factions suffer with crappy councilors and bad orgs? Should I chill out more? It was fun to grab every cool org I could from the AI, but I'm concerned that burning so many bridges isn't sustainable or downright harmful in the long run.
To rename stations you need to like, click on another station, then click back to the one you own, then click manage and the edit name button reappears
I have watched all videos so far at the sime time trying to emulate the results with the resistance guys and im doing ok... but a step by step tutorial each time you do something and WHY and WHEN to do it would be helpful... I have a few moon bases waiting for mining to be done, and something in low earth orbit with nothing attached.... so i have no idea if im doing decently... all of america canada mexico and kazakistan are under my control with russian coming under my control too.... just not sure how to swallow up the eurasion union..... i have to watch that part again.
