I really like this fan. I like its simplicity, construction and space saving design. It produces a lot a flow, quietly. And it has plenty of pressure even at lower speeds to use an in-line filter without inhibiting CFM. It uses only 5 watts of power at the lowest setting and that is the mode I use most.
The other fan in this video uses 35 watts at the lowest output and 85 watts at its highest yet still produces less airflow and pressure than the Terrabloom.

One thing I did not show in this video is that the Terrabloom uses only 5 watts of power at the low setting while the other fan uses 35 watts at its lowest setting. So at the highest setting on the Terrabloom it's only using 36 watts while the other fan is using that much at it's lowest setting. So that should tell you right there how much more efficient it is. Also, the other fan on it's highest setting uses 85 watts and still produces less CFM that the Terrabloom which is only using 36 watts!

I have an AC-fan that runs totally silent when dimmed. They secret is the controller: It's phase angle controlled and that's the noise you are hearing (The motor coils hum with the switching frequency). I am using a step transformer usually set to 80/110V (from 230V). On 80V it is nearly silent but the moving air is always the loudest thing. The downside is of course that you only have a few steps, no fine control. That DC-fan looks interesting too, I wish they existed when I bought my fan years ago. I use my fan to filter the air in my room so i can smoke indoors during winter. This means i need a high airflow so it is not exactly silent so I would be very interested in that video about dampening the air noise!

Inline fans (prop type) the one you have there are fine at blowing air just not sucking air, so if you obstruct it's intake or even have things near to the intake (upto 6 inches) it will speed up the prop and you will get less air out the bum end. The impeller type of fan (hamster wheel/squril cage) types are great at sucking and blowing so are great in the middle of a duct run with air filters either end. Another thing to note is the ducting itself, it may seem obvious but when sucking air through the usual sprung stretchy stuff it will shrink in length and diameter due to the vacuum being pulled and reduce overall efficiency as the ducting is basically shrinking. Also on another point of ducting (noise) sharp turns in the ducting will make a lot of noise due to turbulence of air inside the duct (air changing direction) so this is to be avoided for good practice.

So theoretically speaking, if there was a small bunch of discarded panties, both regular panties and edible panties and they did some how manage to get caught inside the duct and then get caught inside the inline fan would the fan then burn itself out by over heating because it was unable to clear the blockage or would it be able to identify the panties as a unidentified material and just shut itself down to prevent further damage.

I bought this terrabloom fan and it's actual airflow is much lower than they advertise (350 cfm). It has a nice build quality with the metal shell. But I think the low watts of power is because the fan is smaller and under-powered. It pushes half the airflow of the previous plastic ac inline 6" I had.
@GrowingAnswers
@GrowingAnswers 4 года назад
Frannie Ed low watts have nothing to do with it. Dc fans are way more efficient than ac fans. I can’t speak for the size difference in your situation though.

Thank you mate everyone talks about noise dumbest reviews I have ever seen on fans its not the noise dim wits its how much air you push. I have no Idea where this whole noise review waste of time came from yeah its important to know the noise level because I live in my parents basement and I don't want them to know I am growing pot lol. Lots of people use them as I do for booster fans on kitchen exhaust hoods. God Bless

The key metrics you are talking about are CFM/Watt and noise level/CFM. There is so much marketing wank when it comes to fans that no one is to be trusted. Do NOT buy fans based on manufactures specifications.

I run four six inch at 100% the two intakes are dc with fan controllers the two exhaust are like the big one your showing. I am looking to replace all four and use the Smart Temperature Thermostat Speed Controller. Do you know anything about the Smart Temperature Thermostat Speed Controller?

I have mine set to turn up the speed after a certain threshold. Other than than I keep it at a static low speed. That’s ac infinity though. I haven’t use the smart controller for this brand

Hello... I currently have a vivosun 4" 190cfm inline in my 4x4 and it gets up to 84 in the middle of the day. Do you think the terrabloom 6" would keep it around 80?

I guess I am the only one using this for HVAC? :) I just ordered this to add to duct work to boost air from basement to 2nd floor room with too much computer heat load. Currently setting thermostat low enough to cool this room is costing $70 a month extra since adding the heat load computers in that room. The worst part is the basement is like a refrigerator and other rooms are too cool even though closing vents to those rooms. I finally taped the vents with painters tape and it helped. But the design of the HVAC duct work is a disaster and whoever installed this did not help this situation at all. The one I ordered "TerraBloom ECMF-150, Quiet 6" Inline Duct Fan with Variable Speed Controller" shows a controller attached to the fan and the remote is separate, but sold as a kit as of this posting. Hopefully that is what I get. I have high hopes for this inline fan.

Can it run on a battery? I'm trying to build on of those DIY Ice Cooler Portable A/C, some of the best designs I've found use this type of a fan connected to a battery, but I definitely want one that has variable speed control and is as quite as possible.
@GrowingAnswers

It has 110v input, but it converts to dc internally so it could be rigged dc. Or just use a ups.

StonedTone LVgrow more than enough, but if you have 6in holes, you should just use those. Moving Larger air volumes at once means slower fan speed and quieter operation.

24 seven but you could turn it off when the lights are off. Not sure why anyone would want to do that because it barely uses any electricity. Air circulation is good light or dark

They sell the 220V in Australia on eBay, the 220V cost less to produce and are more powerful. Google, Sensdar EC Mixed Flow Exhaust Inline Fan. Sensdar is the manufacturer and holds patents on these fans. You can find them on Alibaba, very nice company to deal with. By the way, Terra Bloom offer great pricing on the fans, even on Amazon!

@sid6066 2 года назад
The explanation of the fan on your left was incorrect. its an impeller type of fan (hamster wheel/squirrel cage). Fans with blades in this configuration are designed to throw the air 'out' against an outer shroud, high air pressure occurs against the shroud and the shroud provides an exit path usually to the side or impeller (popular on furnaces) or out either side of the impeller (near the axle). This higher pressure configuration allows the air to be forced through filters and ducts to the farthest rooms of your home where the pressure of a turban fan would never reach. Impellers are often found in water pumps were high pressure is the intended result, not velocity. Your comparing two different designs developed for two different purposes. ** This is a better comparison of fan designs than fan manufactures, each has its own purpose. ** If the voltage is lowered on a AC motor to the point that it hums, your starving the motor of voltage, bad option. The industry has developed AC fan motors with multiple speeds. Older types are wired with winding configurations to run at multiple speeds, Newer motors known as EC or ECM (Electronically Controlled Motor(s)) have circuitry to communicate with the spinning armature and adjust its configuration on the fly and provide feedback to the controller in real-time. Also real expensive, but it works, and does not hum or starve the motor of voltage.
