Xtremeley good interview. Although, there was a short segment towards the end that was pretty discouraging when it was mentioned that, “the good hunting is behind us”...due to the evolving ownership of land. Thank you both for taking the time!
Never met Terral Shelley, but heard a lot about him, lots of dry ground hunters have dogs tied back to his at some point. Bruce and I found a place to get good rock climbing horses, the sellers ending up in jail for tax evasion, 2 of my horses had a Navajo Nation brand on them. They were great horses.
Sorry Im commenting so much, but so much comes to mind watching these. Ollie Barney told me if you ever want to see a person's true being, hunt with them a few days, you will know. Same thing Shelly says at 40: 28. It sucks hearing Bruce, I miss that old man. For us, its not about the lion, its about the dogs. The lion or bear is a bonus. The New hunters dont seem to care about the dogs, just catch that lion or bear.
Thats ok .. comments are good .. just takes me a while to get to them .. absolutely just spend some time in camp with them .. I do miss Bruce .. I didn't know him that good but hung out with him a few times .. did you know John Henry of Coyote Gods fame ?
@@InterviewsStoriesandTales The John henry I know of lived south of Wilcox, he had them airedale terriers. I ran into him a couple times in the Chiricahua mountains.
@@chuckmiller5763 Yep same one .. him and Bruce were friends at one time .. they had some kind of falling out .. was the main reason Bruce wouldn't let anyone talk about Airedales on the old Shade Tree
@@BrettVaughnB100 Thats funny, I think I knew of John Henry before I knew Bruce. I do remember Bruce hated those dogs. He called them Airdorks. I remember signing up on that site to look at the classified section, Bruce would email me trying to get in touch because I was in Tucson, I was not into the emails and computers much then. Bruce somehow would get a good dog or 2 from people like Ollie Barney. Bruce also didnt care for the cur dogs, he kept that to himself because a few good hunters used them, to bruce, it was just not a hound.
I will try to .. watch for a live announcement.. I am going to try and bring on guests and us talk about hound care and such .. but it will be on my other channel " Born 100 Years Too Late"
@@markschuette3770 Yes we have paid biologists that set the quotas for different units with in the state .. different quota for females .. each lion that is harvested has to be checked by the game and fish .. when the quota gets within 5% the unit is closed .. with out us it would be like California where the state pays for government hunters to kill problem lions .. lion still die you just never hear about it .. here the state gets paid for us to control the population
