Terraria 1.3 - Plantera, Expert Mode Boss Battle 

Pimp my Plantera: 'sup, dawg, we heard, you like vines, so we put vines onto your vines, so you can grab things while you grab things.

Planteras boss battle has my favorite music in it.

Welcome to my inn, As you might know I've been doing a lot of Plantera. Or... I mean Hagrid has been doing it and I've been watching. Usually I can take care of the Plantmaster in a small room by just going round and round. This time you can still do that, but you better run when phase 2 starts. Hope this helps if you're having trouble fighting him on Expert mode. We're closing in on the big fishes now, so stay tuned and we'll see what happens next. //Yri

I check Yrimir's videos for tutorials on how to defeat bosses on Expert mode and then I realize that everything he does is practically impossible for everyone else.

Thank you so much for this Yrimir! I got rekt on my 2nd try (wrong build, forgot a life force potion) but i succeeded on my 3rd (all this after getting completely annihilated on my first when I tried to fight him like I did in normal mode... just going ham). My hands where shaking, but I managed to do it with: Loki's wings (u dont NEED flame/ice wings apparently.. I couldn't get a fire feather :() Cthulhu's Shield (extra mobility + ability to tank some hits at the first phase came in huge) Rangers Emblem Frostspark Boots Charm of Myths Obsidian Shield (self explanatory.. it seems most boss fights are near impossible without this) I reforged everything to damage (4% on most, 3% on one) I used chlorophyte armor with the ranged bonus helmet, and used an Unreal Megashark armed with cursed flame bullets. According to my DPS meter, when i was hitting i was doing 700-900 DPS, which is pretty crazy (IIRC i was doing 1100 dps in endgame normal mode... which makes me think what can be possible with the correct builds). P.S: I cleared out a path with sticky dynamite. its hella fun and I got to kill a lot of mimics along the way for some easy money (the Twins summing item or whatever + bewitching table for double summon + chlorophyte armor crystal thing made blowing my way through the dungeon a breeze, barely had to fight anything myself as my minions did it for me. I made a really big loop (beginning and ending at the starting arena i hollowed out for circling Plantera). that was quite wide, thanks to the dynamite. Also, I lit the place up so I could see what was going on. I hope this info helps any other struggling players... again, THANK YOU VERY MUCH, Yrimir. It really is about mobility.

To those who are saying "Beat Moon Lord as mage its almost impossible" what you don't understand is Nebula armor is a mix of both specter armors, but if you use the healing specter armor with the Razorblade Typhoon from Fishron, the Typhoons lock on his eyes, when they open you heal for a lot= easy but long fight, you're welcome! Plus there is a strat where you lead moon lord to the end of the world then tp to a nurse and heal, then wait for him to come back and repeat.

Anyone else here because teleporter tricks no longer work and you found out the hard way?

You have insane reflexes and coordination sense. Most of us can't fight like that but have to rely on gear and well made arenas.

I've seen this guide but I have never ever killed Plantera, sometimes halfway there I just die. But no worries because I have found another way that is useful for beating plantera. Here are a few steps before engaging plantera. STEP 1 : Get the accessories like Yrimir is using. STEP 2 : Get a bunch of potions like Lifeforce, Endurance, Swiftness, Ironskin, etc. STEP 3 : Craft the mechanical cart from the parts that you get from killing all the mechanical bosses. STEP 4 : Make a long minecart track. Try not to make it too straight or curvy. Make some parts curvy, then the other part straight. STEP 5 : Summon Plantera and ride on the cart. STEP 6 : Keep a distance from Plantera and keep spamming the Rainbow Rod on Plantera during Phase 1, and then use the Magical Harp during Phase 2. Use some mana potions if you need to. There you go, you've killed Plantera with ease. Thumbs up this comment so all the people can find it easy to kill Plantera!

A hint guys, don't try to tank it even with end game gear.

What if I told you there was a much easier way of doing this. Mine out a huge cavern around the bulb. Place teleporters on each corner. Wire them up, and suspend honey over them with bubbles. Place two of the big easy to click levers on each teleporter so you can control where you go. Fill the cavern with platforms. Summon Plantera, and start attacking her. As soon as she gets close, teleport away!

Yrimir, will you be doing Terrablade speedrun now that 1.3 has been released? Before you said that you won't do that as solar eclipses are so random. But now you can spawn solar eclipse after you've beaten plantera. (With solar tablet)

Something I wish they did in expert mode is made it so that certain bosses don't stick around once you're dead like eater of worlds and maybe plantera. (I haven't gotten far enough in Expert mode to know if it stay around once you die so forgive me if that's wrong) It makes it so the most viable strat is to build a house with a bed next to your arena and just continue the fight after you die.

During a blood moon? Okay, you are just becoming a greater god by the day of terraria.

First, We fight an eye with teeth Secondly, We fight a slime Then we fight a brain that can teleport. After that, We fight a giant snake that has eyes and lives in the corruption. Then, We fight a bee that's a queen. Then we fight a mad skeleton. Then we fight a wall made out of flesh. Then we fight a crazy mix between a mech and a skeleton. Then. We fight a snake that is a mech and has probes in it. After that, We fight 2 eyeballs with a red rope connected to the eyes. Then we fight a crazy psycho plant which turns into a cactus with teeth. After. We fight a robotic golem. Then we fight a cultist. Then we fight a green pig which has wings and is from the dark, dark ocean. Then we fight a god.

Jesus Yri, Doing great with expert mode, I've been putting off Expert Plantera for a while. Can't wait for Expert Frost Moon. That'll be hell and I'll love it

If it helps any of you guys, I studied what Yrimir did and built a minecart track to fight Plantera. I'm assuming that's what the developers had planned because of the mech drops. Two sets of rails. A small, roughly hexagon shape for phase 1, and once phase 2 starts, activate buffs and jump to a second set of rails that is about 3-4 times larger. Max speed for the smaller rail, and adjust accordingly for a safe distance on the larger rail. Used Tiki armor and spider minions for that second kill. It was fun.

Wow, Expert Plantera was easier than I thought, totally rekted her: Chlorophyte Shotbow with Ichor Arrows, Chlorophyte set and everything reforged to Lucky/Menacing (IMO def is not worth it vs Boss battles). Accessories: Star Veil, Magic Quiver, Worm Scarf, Wings, Frozen Turtle Shell, Charm of Myths, I wasn't even running with the buff potions that require Fishing (actually I think I forgot to use them at all since I had them all in my inventory after the fight).

Plantera on Expert is just a bit harder comparing to Normal one... Used like 1-2 150hp pots while in full chloro with Unreal Daedalus Bow + Holy Arrows in large arena i kinda just obliterated plantera. That shield off eye boss is so usefull for dashes Had to create another world for ebonkoi which is only catchable in corruption as i had crimson world Gear: Unreal Daedalus Stormbow (Hallow Mimic Drop) + Holy Arrows Furious Optic Staff (Twin Minions) Full Chloro Ranger Luminous Hook (Hallow Mimic Drop) Obsidian Shield (+4% Crit) Frostspark Boots ( +3% Move Speed) Shield of Cthulhu (+4% Crit) Lava Waders (+4% Crit) Leaf Wings (+1% Dmg) Worm Scarf (+2% Move Speed) Buffs: Well Fed Ironskin Pot Heartreach Pot Archery Pot Inferno Pot Endurance Pot Lifeforce Pot Rage Pot Regeneration Pot Thorns Pot Wrath Pot Arena: Large open area with noting in middle so that bow can rain arrows, Campfires around as well as heart lamps with some water at the bottom. Fight: Pretty much what Yrimir did with circling around her but i was using shield dash when i was above her and then droping down while making sure that arrows are droping on plantera continously.

after loads of attempts i spawned in the best mage gear i could get and goos staffs potions etc and failed. legitimately got all the stuff he had and made a huge cave, succeeded first try Yrimir you are awesome dude

Best thing added/changed in 1.3 and why?

FOR THOSE WHO AREN'T KEEN OR DO NOT WANT TO DO MAGIC The Chlorophyte Shotbow + Holy Arrow will do wonders against Plantera. The fact that the stars deal a good amount of damage to her claws as well will help you with the fight. Chlorophyte Armor + Helmet is preferable but I think you should be able to do this with Hallowed. Same accessories as Yrimir here but swap the shackles for a Moon Charm or a Quiver if you got that from an Undead Archer. Of course, its not gonna be a walk in the park. Pot up, use your buffs especially Archery potion. Regular survivability pots will be Endurance, Ironskin, Regeneration and Well Fed.

I guess in expert mode I won't be able to stand still with turtle armor and fetid baghnakhs to kill plantera

It does bonus damage against enemies that arent immune to Poison or Venom by also inflicting this Enemies under venom debuff takes more damage

Is anyone capable of defeating the duke fishron on expert? I just can't beat him even with my best gear. He kills me in four hits with the SOLAR ARMOR!! So it's impossible with melee. I've tried using the spectre hood, and I could survive for longer, but two hits in a row and I was dead. I've also tried being ranged (Vortex armor + Sniper Scope + S.D.M.G), yet I can't kill him. Im just sayin', but defeating this guy with the gear you're supposed to have the first time (being on hallowing / frost moon level, I would say chlorophyte) is next to impossible.

How to beat planters fast:Use vamp knives, typhoon razorblade and greater healing potions armour:Chrolophite armour accessories:any high damaging accessories or high armour accessories place:A big arena with platforms at least one row of platforms

I think Plantera is more a "she" than a "he". :/

Whenever I watch most plantera boss fights they usually use the magical harp. So whenever I listen to just the plantera soundtrack I hear a little solo harp playing. Ting ting ting pling :P

My strategy was using buff potions, the Fetid Baghnahks, and as many attack speed/damage accessories as I can. All pre-plantera gear, outputs about ~3600 DPS

What I learned today from fighting plantera: When plantera is enraged and you re-enter the Underground Jungle, plantera calms down and the fight resumes to normal. That's all I learned lol

Any ideas on why developers didn't make brain much stronger in expert mode AND provided us with tools to make second phase even easier than first?

The expert mode bosses are how every boss truly is, and what they would be like if they were real.

Setps to beat plantera -Turtle armor -Warding aknh shield, obsidian shield and cobalt shield -Warding worm scarf -avenger emblem (warding too) -warding shacke? maybe -Stand on a spike -inside honey -and close to a campfire and heart lantern -Spam iron broadsword -Win (eventually)

you can easily cheese this fight even in expert mode with two teleporters on each side

A chlorophyte Shotbow and some holy arrows managed to drop him down to his second stage pretty quick. I mainly used the Stormbow and those holy arrows to kill every boss up until Plantera, with the exception of the preharmode ones of course. Wouldn't that have worked better or did the Chlorophyte not exist back before 1.3.3?

Don't make the same mistake I did! Having had problems with all the bosses on expert, I made myself an arena for Plantera. Found a nearby bulb, and engaged. Oh boy. She was fast (I mean, really fast) and brutal. I was losing health so fast I didn't even get to see her 2nd stage. I did this a couple times and realised there was no chance I could beat her. What did I do wrong? Turns out the arena I'd made was so big, it no longer counted as a jungle biome. I was fighting Enraged Plantera without realising. In her normal form, she's not too hard.

I need a guide to beat plantera... wait, why the fuck am I watching Yrimir? I had Iron skin potion, well fed buff "minor increase in all stats", thorn potion, archery potion, crystal ball buff, two summonings with a buff and 84 FUCKING ARMOR! WITHOUT THE POTIONS! And I still died ffs. You only had 62 but I can't dodge around like that cause my arena isn't as bif and if I did then the fucking hornets and other monasters would kill me while I fight it

god plantera... i just made a gigantic arena in the jungle for her, but it had one major flaw... i excavated a massive square and filled that with platforms. Unfortunately i made it so big that the inner parts of it were no longer considered jungle... she enraged and utterly destroyed me. :/ Well, i guess i can use that arena for some other bosses... just not for the one i originally designed it for.

Death Sickle made short work of him in my melee expert mode playthroughm due to the piercing effect phase 2 gets a lot less hectic, hope this helps someone out there :)
