Pick a number between 1 & 200 ohms

I saw a TT system like this that was giving a Zdb of 0.65. It had two faults. Firstly there was no earth-rod connected, but also there was a fault on a lighting circuit (no RCD) with Neutral shorting to Earth, making the whole thing look more like a TN-S 😂

i think that the pipe was used as grounding rod, and it rotten at the bottom part thats why its seems to be not conected

Aren't earth stakes a solid rod impaled further in the ground with a plastic cover to prevent shock under fault conditions? That looks like old water pipe 😂
@SeanBZA
@SeanBZA Год назад
Well, it was acting as a support for the cable till then. Hopefully replaced with a new one, actually in the ground, and not made from what appears to be thin wall rolled sheet steel conduit.

How does anybody know where to install the earth rod? How confident are you that there wouldn’t be gas, water or even electric supplies directly underneath where you hammer the rod into?

You should have a rough idea of where your utilities enter your property. In most cases, generally speaking, it would be unlikely to hit a supply while putting in an EE.

Ah well we have had lots of rain recently that will help 😜

Thats not an earth spike, its a pipe! If the supply is PME it wouldn't need it anyway.

That looks like a copper pipe that has rotted away at the bottom. Probably find the rest of it if you dig.
