I never knew the "Sea Spiders" were so odd. I had the idea they were just extra-spindly crabs. They seem to be the pinnacle of leg evolution at the expense of all other body parts.
Henry, I really feel like you are a grossly unappreciated channel. You provide very high quality content and I just want to say I am proud to be one of your subscribers. This video was particularly interesting because these creatures occupy a space very unknown to mankind, somehow more unknown than outer space yet here it sits, right on our tiny rock in the solar system.
There is much more to discover also! Oceans cover nearly 3/4ths of our Planet Earth, yet we have only explored about 5 or 10 percent of the ocean floor! Some of it is just way too deep, e.g., the trenches, but we are learning more as time goes on and we explore more.
Wow,that's as close as we're going to get to imagining early cambrian life in the seas, evolution astounds me in extreme environments As to the incredible adaptations it provides to produce extreme life forms to survive in almost any and all imaginable environments possible. There is absolutely no way we are a cosmic wonder on this ordinary planet Alone, life must be abundant out there as we just witnessed evolutions incredible power
@@Newt2799 We can only stand on our back deck and view a universe beyond our imagination with our current technology, any theory that uses the word..paradox is a paradox, we may never As a species make his discovery as our existence being ephemeral may be our shortcoming
I don' know if I should say "awesome" video but still a fascinating one. Not sure I will be able to observe woodlice the way I used to do! Such a degree of adaptation, incredible. Would love a part 2 indeed. Cheers sir!
They are often referred as jellyfish in documentaries so i can't really blame someone for making that mistake and yes technically a pug is a wolf taxonomically speaking.
Would love to see a part 2, 3, and more with sea squirts, sponges, syphonophores, angler fish, hatchet fish, benthic sea cucumbers, brittle stars, deep sea corals, Chrinoids/ sea lilies/feather stars, brittle stars, basket stars, etc.
You should definitely do a part 2. Two clear choices to include: Anglerfish (go into detail about the huge degree of sexual dimorphism with this one) and the Black Swallower
Those were two animals I wanted to include, but were eventually cut out. A part two will be made though, hopefully sometime before the end of the year. :)
Also, it may be helpful to explain the power of population-sorting and isolated environmental factors that lead to the correct statement you made previously about the "bushy" human tree, vice this currently perceived linear ascension. For a special treat in your next video, you may want to reference the introgression (hybridization) event ~6.5MYA with proto chimps and proto gorillas that infect led to the speciation of the homo line. And as a second special treat, you may want to talk about a pre-human population that settled in the Afar region ...which is where most modern paleontologists agree is the true cradle of mankind and lends credence to the "aquatic ape" aspects of our current morphology, not easily explained by other forces (subcutaneous fat, nose shape, webbed fingers and toes, etc...)
I feel like one of them fishes that have been down at rock bottom. Dante's inferno, concentric circles, rising up from the abyss to get a gasp of that clean holy fresh air.
ForbesUpNX Lou's Time travel effect. Quantum entanglement causes likes to happen before the entangled view occurs. Google Wheeler's conjecture in quantum mechanics. 😐😐😐😐😐😐
"Barreleyes." Honestly seems like the name for a character on one of the intergalactic tv shows that they did as part of a couple Rick and Morty episodes.
PREPFORIT These animals are below the crush depth of a an American Ohio class nuclear submarine, which is a boomer and has to run real "deep and silent." You can rebook your deep dive experience. 😐😐😐😐😐😐😐
3:08 Some animals tend to display such behavior not to defend itself from a predator but to intimidate rivals. Fish and birds make elaborate forms of expressions, to us humans, may attract predators but to display against a rival or a potential mate. Many creatures have unique forms and shapes of appendeges, integuments and other body parts not just for defense or living in a certain environment, but for the sake of communicating with its own kind, especially towards mating or fighting another one of its kind.
do they not fit into the cambrain explosion armor and explain how a sudden of furios warfare come form with out the ..form batteria and slowly forward ?
It is interesting to note that the Sea Spiders carry their bodies much like Daddy Long Legs aka Harvesters / Harvest Men. I wonder if they are more closely related to the Harvesters than they are to true terrestrial spiders?
Re the giant isopods, there exists a RU-vid video of an Asian chef preparing one of these giant slaters for the table. It took some time to express all of the pinky-grey blood and other delicious-looking glossops and the expenditure of a great deal of tap water ...
