Thanks for tuning in again! This video is dedicated to a long time subscriber by the name of Reese Montoya. He commented on my vids like clockwork! Someone contacted me to let me know that he passed a couple days ago. They wanted to let me know because he would share all my videos on his social media. 🙏🏽 I never got to meet him but appreciate all the comments and support he gave since day one. It means a lot, Rip Reese… 👊🏽

Had a diamondback crawl over my sandals when I was a kid. I wasn’t moving at all as it approached me because we were agate hunting & I was distracted. I’d never been scared of snakes as a species til that day, seeing the sheer terror on my dad’s face as he calmly & quietly guided me to not move until it was out of range. I knew to spot & avoid the rattlers from a very young age but hadn’t had one that close to my body ever. Never touched a snake again, even though I’d had a couple pretty little ones as a kid I cared for in our garden. Nope. Glad you’re ok!! 💜

My grandfather worked at the dam and we used to go to Lake Mead every summer. In his time there, he pulled a motor cycle and a hobie cat from the lake and fully restored both. It's really sad to see how far down the water levels are compared to when I'd go as a kid (mid-70's).

As for the size of the catfish. I was stationed at Nellis in the early 90's and we were dispatched for a drowning at the dam. The divers came back up and refused to go back down because the catfish were so big there was no chance of finding a body.

Legends about large catfish below dams have existed as long as dams have been on the rivers. I never believed any of it, until a fellow diver sent me a picture of himself alongside a catfish so big, I could see it's dorsal fin about even with my friends head, and the adipose fin was behind his dive fins, and bigger than a smart phone, could see the back line, but no belly tail or head was in the frame. Had to be nine or ten feet long

Speckled Rattlesnake. Definitely don’t want to get tagged by it, but usually if they aren’t rattling it doesn’t mean they are a non-rattling type, it likely means it either didn’t feel threatened, too cold or it was relying on camouflage.

For those of us that don't fish much and have trouble catching fish, it would be very interesting if you would share basics like what bait to use, what lure is best. I see in this video don't fish in 305 ft deep water so got that part. But where is the places in a lake to catch a fish and what time. If too basic for your video, maybe a short segment with a tip of the day. Anyhow, very much enjoy your videos and so happy to have your Lake Mead reports back. Thank you.

Our vacations were going to Havasu every year for over 30 years! I still love that lake! Please go to the cafe at Black Meadow Landing (if it's still there) and the bait dock at the gas dock. If you go straight across from Black Meadow Landing you'll find the most incredible sheer canyon walls that we used to ski through! And, of course, going by Parker Dam is a must! My dad (may he rest in peace) used to 'fish' with his buddies - meaning they would go out, have some beers after sunset, maybe hook a couple of catfish, then head back to the campsite. By the way, our camping was true dry camping! We hauled ALL our drinking water in, we had a portapotty with the bags, the sun shade, and the THREE 55 gallon coolers that we filled with block ice every other day. Some of my favorite memories were made on that lake! Have a great time!

The ppl that picked me up wanted to site see and let me tell you, ... , it was impressive seeing the water spill over !! It really gave you an idea how the water moved around the dam and what it might have taken to stop the river to build it. I was 19 yrs old and wet behind the ears still. Now I'm 60 this year and have been proud that I got to see the water spill over one of only 2x's in it's history. Mid to late April , 1983. Check it out !! I believe it hit record height in July and was still spilling in Aug.

I was stationed at Nellis from 71' to 75' and I spent my share of time at Lake Mead. But to see it in this state is such a shame.

Thanks for the content guys. It is very appreciated for those of us who can't get out on the lake to see this stuff first hand. Peace.

I was there when the water was going over the spillways...It was amazing!

Same! I saw it in person. The ground was shaking and the water hit with such fury it splashed up hundreds of feet and rained down. Never thought that was only once in a lifetime, if not 1000 years.

Glad to see you back on Lake Meade. I haven't watched since the debacle about filming, but I was curious about the one guy who you helped rescue before the authorities were going to destroy his beached boat. Do you have any updates on him ? Thanks for keeping us updated on the lake!!

Love the Updates, i was a kid when we moved to vegas and came across the spill way when it was overflowing. Great news that the water is still coming up.

This is one of the Speckled Rattlesnakes, Either Crotalus stephensi or Crotalus pyrrhus. Their ranges meet in the Las Vegas area.

Great eye! Definitely a speckled. If you zoom in on the snout, you can see a band of four small scales adjacent to the rostral scale that separate the rostral and prenasal scales. That's makes this Crotalus pyrrhus and not C. stephensi, which only have two scaled in the same location. I had to use a computer to get the 2K video quality and zoom in that way but you can definitely see it. Very high quality video source here!

Thoroughly like your updates. Haven't camped out yonder since the early '70's. Edit: During the past few years I've been concerned watching the lakes slowly disappear from 20,000+ feet above. Hoping and praying next year will bring our West Coast more rain. Decades of drought cost us dearly.

So glad you were so lucky to not get bitten. I had let my brother talk me into letting him keep two huge Texas Rattlers IN my house!! Both were over 6 feet long. One was pretty chill but the other hated my guts!! I would just touch the doorknob and it would start rattling and striking the glass of their enclosure!! I kept them for him for over two years! I was really glad when he got them out of my house!! Great video as always guys!! Looking forward to the next! Be careful and see ya on the next one!!

Always great watching your updates. And to your thoughts at the end of the video about food and your families, that's a topic you should touch on more. As a veteran you know and feel what a lot of us do. Better to have it and not need it, then to need it and not have it. Stay strapped and aware of the surroundings. Take care everyone.
