Terry Cummings: The Career of the ONLY Player to OUTSCORE MICHAEL JORDAN in a Playoff Series | FPP

As far as a power forwards go, he's one of the best who never gets talked about. Terry Cummings was a hybrid forward with the size and skills to play positions 3 through 5. He starred at DePaul University, playing alongside Mark Aguirre during one of the Blue Demons most winningest stretches. He would play briefly with the San Diego Clippers alongside Tom Chambers to start his career; before beginning his best stretch with the Milwaukee Bucks, alongside Sidney Moncrief and Paul Pressey in the mid 80s. After this he would be sent to San Antonio as a great scorer and veteran presence for the Spurs; alongside David Robinson and Sean Elliott. But a freak knee injury suffered in 1992 would completely change the trajectory of his career. He would still last 8 more years in the league, but he was nowhere near the level he was at during his first decade in the NBA. Even so, he had a full decade as essentially a 20 and 10 guy on perennial playoff teams, even getting some MVP consideration. Yet for some reason, Terry Cummings name is almost unspoken nowadays, it could be due to playing in Milwaukee's small market, or being overshadowed by David Robinson. But The Preacher is now one of the most overlooked stars of his era, who embraced whichever role he was given. And even though he retired with the most career playoff games without a Finals appearance, TC did all he could to get there, and deserves nothing but respect.

Milwaukee just ran into some all-time great teams in the 80s in the east and just couldn't get over the hump facing those teams; first, the Sixers and Celtics, and no team was beating those two teams back to back to get to the finals; when they fell off here come the Pistons; the Bucks couldn't catch a break that decade.....

Great video. Terry Cummings so quite underrated. This channel has made me think about NBA players who are playing today that will end up on lists like this. I know Kemba Walker, who retired a few days back, Tobias Harris, Andre Drummond, Bradley Beal, Zach Lavine, Pascal Siakam, CJ McCollum, John Wall, Jrue Holiday, Khris Middleton, maybe Al Horford, Jamal Murray, Blake Griffin and Rajon Rondo, who also retired in April, DeAndre Jordan, Kristaps Porzingis, maybe Bam Adebayo and even Myles Turner and Julius Randle will end up on lists like this.
@Crawsack
@Crawsack 5 дней назад
Jrue is now a 2-time champion, Khris won a title as well- much less likely to be forgotten about because of that. The others on your list I definitely agree with

@@Crawsack Speaking of Jrue do you think he will be inducted to the hall of fame? Even players with a title and were a 2 time all star tend to be forgotten. I really wonder who else can make this kind of list currently playing. I know there is more.

The back and forth with trades from Seattle the Bucks were insane. Essentially an all star team with veterans, experienced and some young players in the mid and late 80’s. I loved going to games at Mecca and the Bradley Center with my dad. I even got to talk and shake hands with Parish and McHale once. Larry wasn’t friendly but I tapped him on the shoulder.
