Jackson composed all his music with his vocal using tape recorded layers. Musicians and producers had to emulate his direction. He wrote all his biggest hits, you’ll notice if you check the credits that songs on albums he didn’t write were typically fillers and all the big famous Jackson hits were “written, composed and co produced” by michael jackson. Michael got production rights because of the sheer power he yielded in the creative direction of the production process which all stems from the fact he conceived his songs in his own head, they were his babies. Michael jackson was a musical architect, producers were used like tools, they were his builders.

wow, what's all these snarky comments on here about michael jackson not being a musician or having talent! Michael wrote and created many of his songs. Have you listened to Little Susie, or the Lost Children, Can't Stop Til You Get Enough, Billie Jean, and the list goes on. Also he played piano and played drums to some extent. Sheesh, just because all you saw was him singing and dancing doesn't mean he was limited in talent! Other than that, he was the most amazing philanthopic entertainer ever. He was beloved worldwide for decades. No one will ever out-do what MJ did.

Terry should have given credit to where credit is due and that is to Prince. Prince was the one that had the intellect and courage to challenge the right to his art and has paved the way for many. In this interview, I only hear words that originated by Prince. Let's not forget he was the one and the only one who dared.
@REctershi
@REctershi 7 лет назад
PrinceFriend 4ever Yeah, and he's saying the exact same for MJ. Because MJ was just as good as Prince, if not better in my opinion. This video isn't about Prince.
@Ambrosia369
@Ambrosia369 7 лет назад
If you happened to like MJ more than Prince, that is fine...your choice. Prince was the music innovator, a one man band who did not rely on producers to put his music together. Meanwhile, Michael who was in the business since childhood needed the help of a producers. From Quincy, Teddy Riley, LA Reid, Michael was always clinging on to somebody to improve his music. Michael was a follower. If it was hot, he wanted to be part of it.
@REctershi
@REctershi 7 лет назад
Danielle Rameau Michael worked with those producers to get new ideas for his music. He researched and asked questions to keep up with the times, so he could stay in touch with the crowds. That in itself is very good business sense. But the rest was him. He produced and wrote and arranged the majority of what he did. MJ never produced an album that ever flopped. Prince had great albums but not all of them did great, and non of them sold to the extent of MJs albums. That's cuz MJ was better at marketing himself and getting his music 'out there'. It's good business sense to work with people anyway. He did it to market himself and to spread his music all over the place. It's not that he wasn't capable of taking the wheel on his projects. Theres nothing wrong with working with other artists and expanding your horizons. I'm not saying Prince is bad at all, I like him to an extent, and I think he, like MJ, was a genius. What I don't like, however, is the fact that you need to downplay MJ and shove your opinion in everyone's faces in such an arrogant way! Both of them were great. However Prince is not the focus of this video. If you don't like it, just go away!

They lack the composition elements of a Norman Whitfield or a Thom Bell but they created/reinvented the pop sound by incorporating MPC drums/electronic sounds a still created melodies on par with the two I mentioned above. When it comes to producing, Michael didn't have the gift like Prince did. From dance moves to music, Michael always made sure he stayed up on the latest. If a producer was hot, At some point, Michael was going to approach him. After he left Motown in the 70s and 80s it was Quincy Jones ,he bit of some of Prince's style(Dirty Diana, Give In to Me and Black and White) in the 90s, Teddy Riley and LA Reid,(for the new Jack era) Seeing how well his sister did with Jimmi Jam and Terri Lewis, He approached them for a taste of that Minneapolis sound. Michael did not have what it take to reinvent himself on his own. Always had to cling on to some producer. Can't think of one successful album Michael produced by himself.
@DJGary0910
@DJGary0910 6 лет назад
Danielle Rameau Michael never had to reinvent himself his fans went with him every step and no he never bit Prince that's Blasphemy and outrageous he didn't have to do sexual music just to stay up to date he wrote what he felt touched on topics that Prince never ever did name a Can You Feel It, Black or White, Heal The World, Earth Song, Another Part Of Me, They Don't Care About Us, Money, DS, Childhood, out of his catalog it was Prince who had to reinvent himself biting Bowie style every 6 month's to stay relevant for release most of his biggest hits was with Wendy and Lisa that's where he found his success then got angry and broke up the revolution once people was noticing them as key figures didn't have the nerve to credit them for their contributions on SOTT Prince didn't have what it took to keep a band together and was jealous of The Time then got even more jealous of Jam and Lewis success once Control Album came about
@Ambrosia369
@Ambrosia369 6 лет назад
DJ Gary, You are running at the mouth and don't even have your facts straight. To be begin with, Prince was a music innovator. If it were not for Prince, there wouldn't be no Time. Jimmy Jam always express his gratitude for the exposure that Prince gave them. The group came about when Warner allowed Prince to put a band together, being that he was so prolific. Most of the Times earlier work consisted of songs that were written or co-written and produced by Prince. And that's not including Sheila E, and Vanity 6. When it comes to music, Michael ain't had nothing on Prince from: Writing, Producing, and arranging. As I said before you don't know Prince music well enough to make any comparison. Prince wrote some of the most beautiful love ballads. Some of them were just very romantic and not overtly sexual. But Prince was beyond that. Colonized Mind, In A large Room with No Light, Chaos and disorder, Fix your life Up, Planet Earth, God, The Ladder, The Love you Make, She gave her angels and so much more. You entitled to like who you wanna like, but even people who worked with both artist have admitted that Prince was on another level as a musician. The fact that Prince once collaborated with Miles Davis says a lot.
@chelsearogers1289
@chelsearogers1289 6 лет назад
Reinventing yourself is something that creative people do, they are constantly evolving. They get bored easily with the same tired nonsense. While people were still high on Purple Rain, Prince had moved on to the next project. Michael never completed a whole entire album from A-Z by himself. There was always someone involved: From Quincy, Teddy Riley, L.A Reid, and Terry Lewis.
@DJGary0910
@DJGary0910 6 лет назад
Danielle Rameau Danielle Rameau I don't hear no Prince song's being mentioned during riot's/Black lives matter protest or terrorist attack's I hear They Don't Care About Us and Heal The World is mentioned constantly so that thing about Mike had nothing on Prince writing and arranging and producing first off why would he they both did it differently you must've never heard HeartBreak Hotel. Muscles. Centipede Mike knew what he wanted he even said he tells the person what he wants then they lay it down it's better that way Mike collaborated with heavyweights Roger Troutman Stevie Wonder even wrote for Jennifer Holiday and Diana Ross and J Friend's Rebbie and wrote with Barry Gibb Paul MCcartney Paul Anka I'm not saying Prince wasn't talented and I do know all his song's and facts I just choose to be arrogant like certain Prince fans are but that doesn't change the fact Mike had talent and worked his ass off don't count him out like he didn't compose and produce arranged great material
@DJGary0910
@DJGary0910 6 лет назад
Danielle Rameau Michael used those producers for marketing purposes only it wasn't cause someone was involved those people wanted to work with him as well so why not use your status. Hell Prince used Purple for marketing purposes even though wasn't even his favorite color he even used Jill Jones image for marketing purposes same reason why he needed to do dance routines to stay within the MTV radar even had to do privates show's to get his videos aired quickly again marketing purposes he even used hip hop and new jack elements needed a rapper and dancers to stay on top he couldn't get through the 90s A-Z without Hip-hop so that little bullshit about Mike bit Prince is delusional and stupid it was Mike who had a rock song before P. We can say Prince studied Thriller and bit the Tracklisting for Purple Rain
@kevjev

in other words. Unlike Prince. Michael isn't a musician and has to hire producers and musicians to play for him. They write a lot of his songs. Arrange them. and all he has to do is sing and dance. Which he does well. But Prince does it ALL!!
