I bought a 2001 Dodge ram 1500 with about 140,000 mi. Runs perfect paid $3,000. I can work on everything and the $100,000 that I saved by not buying a cyber truck gets me about 25 years worth of gas. Great truck. I love my truck.
#1 The range was exposed to be nearly HALF what was promised. #2 The wheel covers needed to be recalled for damaging the tires. #3 The Stainless Steel has been exposed as rusting. That points to low-grade Stainless steel "304" rather than Marine Grade "311" Cybertruck is the new "HUMMER" It's designed for huge egos. "Look at Me" "Look at Me" "I'm king of the Mountain!!!".
It's not a lower grade steel. When choosing an alloy you have to consider all the properties and it will always be a compromise. Probably Tesla needed to emphasize the formability properties of the alloy to be able to manufacture the panels.
I really don’t think the people who buy this car will care. It’s about the attention/pussy they get. Kinda like the folks that buy Lamborghinis, Ferraris, Porsches; mpg, reliability, and comfort is not very high on the list. 😂
@@PassportBrosBusinessClass calling it lower grade doesn't necessarily make sense. Using stainless steel on a car is a ridiculous idea altogether, but this exact steel may easily be the least bad one out of all the horrible options
No door handles, so you need power to open it. How do access the interior without busting a window if it's bricked for some reason? Can you bail out if you get into an accident, the electrics fail, and the battery starts its thermal runaway act? Never mind. I'll stick with my Nissan Frontier. Cost about a third and is capable for what you actually need a truck for.
There are emergency door release in those cars. Batteries catch less on fire than combustion engines. The difference is that you can't put a battery fire out.
@@chuckfrezzel348 When that shit starts you can't stop it. But it is less an occurence than combustion engine cars. Not saying that all is cool, it would be great if it didn't ever happen. But it does.
We do have to give the owner a shout out for being so cool and down to earth. Very nice of him lending his new vehicle for an honest review without demanding money. Just for that I’m subscribing to his channel.
My first DeLorean was hit in the quarter panel about six months into owning it back in 2004. The panels just screw/bolt onto the fiberglass body tub. Back then, it cost $600 to get another one off of ebay and I replaced it in my garage on a Saturday.
Really? Is he though? It’s all about the hype in Elon’s world, and when you constantly turn out underdeveloped EV’s that will have many issues and build quality problems, Tesla in realty is kind of the anti-Toyota and more like 70’s General Motors.
Elon Musk is a total fraud who misleads investors and consumers to aid his pocket and the governments. Everything he touches litterslly turns to shit without the government.
@@993mikea lot of speculation points toward elon committing fraud by buying tesla stock when it plummits and selling it when it's worth more. It's theorized he purposefully tanks and builds the brand in succession to supplement his wealth since tesla stock is a significant portion of his net worth. If they're right this whole cybertruck disaster is likely intentional, same with the many of the embarrassingly underperforming products released by tesla. I don't know if i believe this, but somebody in his position is probably capable of getting away with it so it's hard to say
Those $2M reservations were made when the dual motor was $50K anf the tri-motor with 500 miles of range was $70K. I still have my reservation and I have no intention of taking delivery . I'll be surprised if they sell 100k at the released prices. Its just not worth it.
Tesla notified me 2 months ago that my reservation was ready for order but I still haven't started the order yet. I'm hesitant to pull the trigger because of the price and the range.
@@laogia69 Yea, Currently Tesla is the scalper. They are milking anyone willing to pay the price . All these influencers spending 40K more then the CT is worth just for clout and clicks. The fasater they build these the faster the price is going to drop since they are going to run out of takers at this price . The 4680's are also going to be improved so we should expect at least 20% more range within then next two years .. I'll give up my reservation if they force me to make a decision, otherwise I'll let it ride until the range improces and the price drops or I buy something else.
In 5 years you won’t be able to give them away, just like EV’s sitting on dealers lot today but with the added undesirable feature of being just ugly! 😂
I got 2 EV's now.. Best investments I ever made. Haven't paid gas or oil changes in 4+ years. Have fun paying that $5-7 per gallon gas this summer 😂 ✌🏽
I LOVE the look of the truck. I don't need it for long hauls, or to go offroading heavily. I DO want it to haul a trailer with about 10K pounds max for up to 2 hours away at times. I can't afford one though so it does not matter. I hope by the time I can afford a EV truck, they will have invented a better battery tech. That's what is holding EV's back. And the charging requirements on the grid. But yeah if I could afford one, I would be driving it every day.
Where I live, you wouldn't go anywhere after the first free charge from the dealer runs out. Oh look, the nearest charger is only 40 miles away, and its a slow charger.
The EV Hummer would be fine if GM removed the heavy battery pack and replaced it with an efficient diesel generator: Like the diesel/electric locomotives.@@LuckyLopez777
I’ve already towed one after only 75 miles. It had a problem with the 4 wheel steering that stopped it from going over 4 mph. The owner was cool and went over the vehicle with me and all its imperfections. From the FACTORY, they sent it out with a damaged rear bumper and wheel covers without locking rings to keep them from flying off and he lost all 4 within 2 days. Luckily for him there’s a recall for them. It’s pretty cool in person but it’s really damn heavy. Also, his was already rusting.
"Probably the thing I love the most is the actual power outlets here on the side, so *_if you're doing any type of construction work_* or want to plug in your tools..." Zero percent of Cybertruck owners do any construction work. 🤣🤣🤣
My 2018 Kona has 70k miles and NOT ONE problem. Just maintenance costs which have been minimal. Cybertruck say $100k Kona $20k Wow I can buy a lot of gas for $80k How stupid are Tesla buyers
#Cybertruck is way #overhyped ! 2nd row seats were really small and car camping is not possible (there is no connectivity with cabin). This is too expensive ! Definitely, not worth !
Gotta love all the EV haters. Own a Tesla model 3 RWD and really like it. Has taken us on multiple state road trips and all our local driving. It's a pleasure to drive and own. Not anti gas vehicles, just see the advantages provided by EV's.
I like it! The more who cancel, the sooner I get mine. When they revealed in 2019, who knew COVID was coming and all the supply chain issues that followed.
I heard they're starting to rust also... anytime you get ANYTHING on the body, you gotta clean it off right away (water, mud, oil, dirt, grease, etc...)
Does this guy not understand that only the foundation series is selling for 100k+...In about 6 months the dual motor is going to sell for 75k ...which is exactly what you'd spend for the fully upgraded model of the GMC, Ford, Chevy or Toyota 1/4 pickup? How do the youtubers not have any concept of what the competition is doing?...I really hope an actual truck guy does a cybertruck review, I'm tired of the tech bros who have never owned a truck or used a truck for work review the cybertruck.
Hate it or love it, personally I love it, my favorite thing is that America is innovating and there is actually now some options that approach concept vehicle level.
Ill keep my nice paid off 2016 Toyota Camry. I have never needed to keep up with the Joneses. Just like you said in a previous video, its better to keep a paid off reliable car for a lil while.
That’s RU-vidrs DennisCW ‘s own personal customized Cybertruck. As a 3 year Tesla Model 3 owner, Cybertruck is like other Teslas, they are not for everyone, but I love them. Same for electric vehicles, they aren’t for everyone, but l love them, love the whole EV experience… ✌🏽👍🏾
I will take the Smart Car any day over the Slobber Truck! Nothing like a poorly done half baked EV! I would say not fit for purpose as a truck. I do think if one wants to be noticed for having money to burn on poor taste, the Slobber Truck is the way to go.
I don't know if anybody's going to have this vehicle for 10 years straight is it really going to hold up for 10 years. If you have it out in the elements all the time how bad is it going to rust
Is that the truck that crashes through guard rails seen video went through guard rail didn’t slow down hit concrete barrier cracked it almost in two then jumped over it then came to stop.
One thing I have been noticing is that people no longer care about build quality. People would rather purchase junk or cheap products just as long as they think they look cool. It’s sad but it’s the honest reality.
Lucky, thank you for the well balanced report, and for sharing both likes and dislikes. I really appreciate you bringing your wealth of auto and industry knowledge to this report.
That is a good review,. You pointed out a few things like that glass or the lack of feedback from the road. I haven't heard anyone mention this in any of the other YT videos I've seen.
The cost and the Chicago winter is one reason people are walking away. People are broke and seeing Tesla range drop and not able to charge in subzero weather definitely made people run away from these trucks.
No trucks have a barrier for the rear glass. It would’ve been better if it would’ve been steal and another camera looking in the bed of the truck for tools, random shit, let’s, etc.
I wouldn't call it a cyber "truck" I would call it a cyber "El Camino" I hated it when I first seen it but it's kind of growing on me now. I still wouldn't buy one I have no need. I have a Jeep and 2SS Camaro and a hellcat, so I'm good On buying another car. If I was getting rid of my Jeep, I might think about it.
I think you should put your reservation in for an Aptera. Much better idea for an efficient self-charging EV. Hopefully they will ship their first units by the end of this year.
Up through 2023, you could reserve a cybertruck with a refundable $250 deposit. Musk claimed a million reservations were placed. Today, you must submit a $1000 non-refundable deposit to reserve a cybertruck. The number of $1000 reservations has not been released by Tesla.
Only time will tell how many of the over 2 million pre orders will convert into sales. Due to the new technologies showcased in the CT, the ramp may take a while. I believe demand will remain strong for at least 10 years.
Honda sales reps ask me if I will sell my Ridgeline Black Edition back to the dealership. I doubt Tesla will be doing that with their Cyber truck. Resale will be much lower as you pointed out. What bothers me is if the insurance company will total the vehicle after an accident due to battery damage. I have read that's what they do with most EVs.
Every ute has the same issue of potential tools going through back window if STUPID enough to leave loose tools in the back of the bed. It's the perfect builders ute.
Tesla stock will depreciate faster than the cyber truck. Marketing of the stock was more important than selling the cars. EV Graveyards will fill up quickly.
Mine actually heats and cools way better than my former combustion engine car. I don't know where you take this idea from, electric and hybrids need heat pumps and heat pumps are better at climate control. Most of the time I don't even need to scrape ice off the windows, the car mets it all away.
What kept me on the list, hail proof AND no window rock chips tired of replacing one a year also Safety will be my wife’s commuter it JUST made our range requirements -Montana
someone fact checked the bulletproof thing and it didn't go well so safety isn't really a plus for this thing, more likely that FSD will drive you into a lake and youll get stuck inside lmao
