Hey man, im in the middle of tearing my drive unit down, is there anyway i could email/message you about particular concerns that i have? Either way thank you for all this great content, i couldnt have done it without you thus far.

I don't have the time due to fulltime job + two businesses, sorry...that's why I put the videos online so people can try to help themselves. For help on software and the electrical system, I would recommend contacting Vladimir Leshchenko from alflash.com.ua.

@@diyEVguy thanks for that, just a quick update, is everything still going well with your unit? Any concerns or things that you would've done differently looking back it?

@@bradleyrippey9379 everything is good and better than expected! I think I am at 4000mi without leak still. Also see the description below the video for the website with the latest updates and recommendations.

Nice, yea I've been using that website often, how well did you clean the stator? There is a lot of brown gunk all over the stator that when it's scraped turns white then back to brown after scrubbing with acetone. Is this old electrocuted solidified coolant clinging on? Is my goal to remove all of this before I continue?

@@bradleyrippey9379 yes but be careful not to damage the insulating paper.

Stupid question: I always drive in chill mode (max power 160kW).....why not blocking off the rotor cooling and avoid destruction of the very expensive (here in Australia) LDU due to a leaking seal? My 1st LDU of 2014 Model S85P+ lasted 280.000km, replaced on warranty and replacement unit has done 110.000km by now. Would it make sense to check the speed sensor for coolant drops every time i jack up the car to swap wheels (every 10.000km)? Absolut great series of videos, well filmed, commented and edited. Man has common sense !

Thanks man! Tesla has just started with a blocking/ bypass kit so no seal needed anymore.

@@diyEVguy I scheduled an appointment to have the kit either supplied or installed .....let's see what happens. BTW it's the first Tesla officially registered in Australia and I want to keep it alive as long as possible.

@@diyEVguy Tesla Australia doesn't know about this kit. I pulled my speed sensor out and it was wet and had crystal deposits. Not even done 100.000km. I ordered the china seal (3 seals) now.

but do you think replacing the fluid, with fresh additives, could bring benefits ? According to the manufacturer, the fluid only lasts for a certain time, even if Tesla claims otherwise.

Replacing the coolant with the same G48 does not help.
@ManKetnas

What coolant can you recommend ? In my case the crystallization is clearly visible on the tank, probably I need to flush the system with hot water, which will also be a bit complicated. But thanks still for your very technical videos.
@diyEVguy

@@ManKetnas so Zerex G48 is a hybrid coolant: contains both inorganics (silicates) and organics (undisclosed). So it probably is HOAT (Hybrid Organic Acid Technology). Now you could think that switching to OAT would thus be better. But maybe not, because the silicates are "fast acting" which may be needed to quickly protect the water pump impeller surface pits that are caused by cavitation. So switching to a different coolant may cause faster water pump impeller wear. But I must admit that I have never taken the water pump apart so what do I know. Also other materials used in the whole coolant system may require G48, so this problem opens yet another can of worms.
