Awesome, thank you for the Model 3 how to guide. It's time to pull the trigger and place my order. I definitely listen to my audio loud and the Alpine will match the rest of my speakers in my 3 preformance.
This will be a great add on to your upgraded alpine speakers. We sold out of the first batch so get your order in soon so you can get in on the next batch.
Just ordered my kit but I have the Model 3 Long Range which has the premium audio package, which means my install will be slightly different. Will you be doing a separate video for that or provide instructions with the kit? Thanks for putting this together!
Hey Rico, thanks for the order. We have a video with the Model Y with the premium system. You can get amp placement and signal tap off the factory sub from that video. But If you have any question let us know call (805)486-8307 ask for me (Josh) and I’ll talk you through it.
Hoping you guys get your hands on a standard range 2024 model 3 re fresh, ordering one soon and desperately want to add a sub since it doesn't have one, wondering if the wiring is different on the re fresh, assuming its the same as this one in your video, but ya never know...
We haven't had one come in yet? When you get yours let us know and if we still havent seen one by then we can set up a facetime call or skype to go through it with you.
I've been looking for something like this. I have a 2023 SR+ (No sub) and I added the wiring to "activate" the pillar speakers... The wiring harness actually came with the rear deck activation as well but I do not have any rear deck speakers on the 2023. I was wondering if I could use that as my signal to an amp instead. What's the easiest way to test if those cables are sending speaker signal/power? TBH I'll end up getting this kit but eventually creating a box for the side (where you mounted the amp) cause its just a huge waist of space for people without the stock sub. Is that something you might consider making in the future or is that something you might do as a one off?
Q: Has the grey tesla you gust installed came back with any issues? Did all go well? I've been waiting for this set up going to travel 75 miles to have you install if all is good and no reports of tesla 16 volt battery dieing?
A: yes it went well. No issues at all. We did the actually install almost 2 weeks ago. But in our 2023 Model Y we did the install in the middle of January and not issues at all, no reports of the battery dieing. Let use know when you want to set up an appointment. We sold out of the first batch of boxes and panels. But we are expecting them next week.
I had a question about the 2 unused R & L wires you tucked away. Can those be used for a connection to rear deck speakers in the case I don’t have them in the rear in my 2021 Model 3? Just need to know before I purchase this.
You might be better off using one of those speaker activation kits and grabbing the rear wiring and tapping off that. I think the wiring you are looking at cannot be used because he bridged the amp and the "extra" 2 speaker cables cannot be used when bridged. Forgive me if those are not the wires you are talking about. You could also add one of those micro amps to power the rears. Maybe consider some sort of pre signal hi/lo device to make it easier if you go that route. Like a Audiocontrol line converter.
I like this but I feel like it’s not going to be enough bass. If I were to do two of these boxes would I need an extra battery? I’m not concerned about losing mileage. I’m just concerned about killing the battery when the bass hits. You should do more videos dealing with teslas. Not a lot out there. Only videos about swapping out stock interior speakers.
It’s good for someone not looking to be heard a block away. We’re gonna work on that system next!! Maybe two 10s or a single 12” that handles 1000+ watts in a ported box.
@@BreakersStereo yes! That’s what I’m looking for. A nice clean system install. A box that’ll take up that sub trunk area. Just take my money now. If you need someone to test it out. I’ll be happy to be do it. Not many shops in Chicago area that want to add systems to Teslas.
I think you got it reversed, you should’ve used the dc/dc converter connection i.e. connection under the seat. If the computer detects higher draw from the 12 volt or 16 volt battery in the frunk it will go in limp mode. I’ve installed a sub on my ‘23 model y and used the connection under the seat. NVX also has a RU-vid video for installing sub on model y.
Absolutely WRONG, newer 16 volt batteries its crucial to connect the LV battery NOT the HV battery under the seat tried it it does not work under the seat. Been 3 weeks it’s been working beautifully no issues at all no range loss either. So do your research more before informing people what you think. Thanks
Yep. Every installed amp on Tesla in RU-vid including five star car audio used the connection under the seat, watch their install on the alpine Tesla specific sound system. ✌️
So we are learning these cars as we go along but I’ve had our shop model Y amp connected on the battery up front since January with no issues. We’ve also done several Teslas at our shop with no issues either. NOW the guys from Alpine were in my shop last week and we talked about this subject and they use the under the seat connection for their amp. I expressed my concern since I’ve heard from a few customers and Also from the guys over at Mosconi that they had issues with the car going into limp mode when using the under seat connection. They said as long as you’re not pulling too much current then it will be fine…. Now I’m not sure if this is true or not but we are almost 5 months strong selling out bass kits including the one we sold Madmaxmusic93 so we will continue to recommend using the battery under to frunk instead of under the seat until proven otherwise.
