Tesla Model 3 Performance Road-trip Disaster!

I think people forget that Alyssa edits these videos and if Kyle was really disrespecting her in a bad way, it probably would have been apparent. It seemed obvious to me that was joking banter and funny, given the history on their channels about Kyle interrupting a lot. The guy just loves to talk, and it’s fun to see Alyssa throwing it back at him when he can’t help himself. That said, this was some really compelling content! I’m glad you included Timon diagnosing and fixing it and showing the negative effects on the tire, and especially relieved that all that was from a simple mechanical failure that was easy to correct. We all know that in some aspects these cars are way more complicated than the ones of yesteryear, but some things, like connectors taking a bump and coming undone, are still the same. Love the car adventure content, but also the puppers too!

Ugh. I'm soo sorry that happened hun. That always stinks when plans go awry. At least you had a handsome puppy to help pass the time. Thank you for helping the puppies.

Great job Alyssa. You handled yourself very well without panicking. Not a good situation and this is one of the reasons some people fear owning and driving a Tesla. Keep rescuing those great dogs and, keeping being a part of the channel.

Wow. Definitely going to need a new tire. I'd also make sure none of the rotors got warped from the brake being stuck.

As soon as tire pressure icon popped up, I would’ve been concerned and the first thing to check. Knowing EV’s come with no spare tire is the only thing that worries me on long road trips. Other than that, nice toughing it out.

The Idle charges discussion is funny. I make that drive monthly, and have never-ever-ever seen more than three Teslas charging at any charger between Lincoln and Boulder. 99% of the time it's only me, lonely charging. Keep up the good work.

You did great Alyssa, This just happened to me on our M3P, Tesla replaced the Driver side Caliper and Rotor and cleared the codes. I watched this video afterwards i would of learned something.

Flatspot means the rear did lock up. So Alyssa was right imo. Which can go sideways and get ugly at speed. Not to mention overheating the parking brake. Glad no one got hurt and it was resloved.

I was happy to see Alyssa on her solo trip. She did great! Especially considering the situation! Love this one!

That trip planner bug I noticed on my trip - Portland -> Phoenix and back. It was on average under predicting by 5-10%. Trip would say -2% and I would arrive 6-8%.. I wasted more time on supercharging stops at times thinking out of error vs. just going. I got more comfortable with it knowing the wh/mi and weather ahead and just doing.

What a beautiful dog!!! I had a spaniel that lived to 20 years old. She did get a good low fat diet for the majority of her life, got enough exercise (though she rather not do too much I do believe she lived to that age because she was loved despite of having cancer tumors twice, a pancreatitis issue, and jumped out of a moving car. and hurt herself. But as I said, she was loved! Alyssa: You're doing a GREAT job! Should've left Kyle to drive the Tesla back home to see if it failed on him

You should take the roof rack off when you're not using it. It hurts aero pretty decently.

And another Alyssa video. I love it. So, a 300 mile EV, actually has a usable range of 120, so that you charge within the 10-60% range. That is, unless you leave from at home at 90%, or you can charge to 90% at the hotel. Then we are talking 200 miles. My Cadillac CTS 3.6 can do 500 miles easily, refueling at the equivalent of 35cents per kwh at todays gas prices. My next car is definitely EV, but I hope that nominal battery range goes up to 600 instead of 300 for Model 3 or 400 for S, so that I can do 300 miles without stopping : ) Great videos.

Our 2013 S shows 5% at arrival on the superchargers for quite some time and then jumps. I think it's some sort of thing that they normally do. It may be just how it works, keeping people that are not that familiar with their car to charge ... "Enough"? Hmm. Great video! EDIT: doing a great job, lady. Yes. The interrupting may get more under control if he works at it. I didn't even realize I did it the way I did and my wife let me know. Everyone else just let it happen. (Learned from family, can't get a word in otherwise how I grew up)

Great video. Thanks to Kyle and Jordan for saving the day, but in true Out of Spec style, there’s always a close shave making it to a charging destination. I was confused though how the left rear tire flat-spotted from a grabby brake, but the shaky connection Tijmen found was on the right. Or did the left just clinch up because of a fault? And was that loose connector the source of the problems y’all have been experiencing?

Sounds like the map doesn't update if your gps coordinates didn't change, once on the road it kicks in. That would be a code flaw.

I don't think my marriage would have survived if I had let my wife go on a road trip in a car that I knew had problems. Especially if I had gotten there and told her it didn't really happen like she said it did. Glad you kept your cool (at least from what was in the video). Maybe there were some choice words that we didn't get to see.

Always love the channel that gives us The GooD, The BAd, and tHE Ugly side! This reminds me a bit of the several vehicles I have gone through over the years. There is something to be said for having a manual parking brake (other than for drifting a car), but that's a 22 year old vehicle. Then 10-year-old vehicle has a push-button automatic parking brake, but when we bought the dealer took a good chunk of time explaining how to deal with it if it ever got stuck. And then now... everything is automatic and if it breaks, you wind up stuck out in the cold :-( -Matt

That would be Kyle - who has touble getting the wheel off and is laying under the car with no jack stand as a safety so if the primary jack fails he can get squished. Nice.
