Norway: Where your car mechanic speaks three languages.
@farangforever7758
@farangforever7758 4 года назад
Yes...and why this is happening.... because no one of them is a Norwegian....and please don't get me wrong because this is not my point. They are all Norwegian citizens (I guess) and members of the Norwegian country and their local society but they all are not coming from Norwegian ancestors and this is very obvious from their facial characteristics and from the accent of their English and their native language. Nothing racist or wrong here only mentioning some facts.

Bjorn, the weird smell is the evaporator coil leaving moisture and causing mold to form in the area and possibly in the cabin air filter. Pretty bad. Anyways the place where you put the cabin air filter has the evaporator coils towards the left side towards the car. You need to use an evaporator cleaner and run it through your HVAC to clean it out. Had the same issue as 47k kms. Smells like wet socks... lol. Hope this helps.

You turn off the AC 5 minutes before arriving to your destination and let it on ventilation on medium-high speed, so all the moisture on the radiator/condenser is blowed away. I did this for the last few years and no more smell.

Not sure if it can be turned off completely, but i think i will drive around with regen on low setting all the time. Just had my model3 summer tires swapped for cold weather tires at my citroen garage. Had them measure the tread depth. Mine were slightly more worn on all insides, but not cause for concern. Maybe I will ask them to do a left/right swap in spring. Little more work, but tire stuff is important. Interesting, the rust on the drive shafts...let's see how that develops. Also...you should check the liner in the wheel arches...could be pins missing there too. Especially at the back.

Its probably because of they designed the ac system in the tesla, you have alot of repots of this smeel. I think it was because the ac stays on warm days, so it never gets the time to dry up or something. Like in the summer you always see water under car from the ac, and it gets trapped or something. Changing filters in different cars after one year, they always seems like new to me.

The rust on the casing of the CV joints are just cosmetic, if you want to keep it rustfree just clean it with a wire brush and cover it with sticky grease / wax. There are 2 casings on each driveshaft, one at the DU the other one at the bearing / brakedisk.
@MrRetobaer
@MrRetobaer 4 года назад
I'd say just use your breaks more often. Otherwise the breaks will be rusty soon. The noise is quite normal and comes from a little rust on the breakdisks. I would just change the filter from time to time and check if the weels have some play while you change from summer to winter tyres. You can simply check the wheelplay with your hands, no tools needed! I'm a pro and do it that way. Ok, I drive Toyota's so usually no breakages at all for a looong time... I hope Tesla will go the Toyota route and try to make very reliable cars in the future. I'm thinking about a change from Toyota to Tesla 3! But first I want to check out how good the quality of the Model 3 is. Not compared to the bad cars, compared to Toyota, Lexus and maybe Honda. Thank you for the video.

Hopefully the Tesla truck (and all future teslas) will have: 1. Full metal underbody protection. 2. Variable torsion sway bar for full articulation and ground contact. 3. Much better clearances for large diameter tyres (suspension assembly is too close). However I think the range will be terrible when loaded/ towing/ remote areas. Also the breakover may be poor because of the large wheel base.

They say that you should change the coolant around the battery and I wished you would have shown that method. You take off the panel which you have missing screws and remove a plug and drain and then open a plug and pump in new coolant. Damn I wish you would have shown that method. You could put on rust converter paint on the drive shall easily if you remove the panel.. the two bolts and three push in tabs... it is clearly seen and easily brushed with RUST CONVERTER paint. Nice to see the cabin filter in the glove compartment area when you take off the panels... Recommended service is: cabin filter, brake fluid exchange and coolant exchange and check brakes... This is the cabin filter and not that bad compared to the two Honda's and it is much more work (BTW there's no engine air filter). For a Honda Pilot I had to physically cut a large piece of plastic (and discard it) after loosening and dropping the glove box. It was a pain in the butt to get that glove box re-aligned and in properly. My former BMW 5 series was also a pain - had to remove the glove box and getting the screws back just right was a chore. This actually seems not too bad to pull a panel and then temporarily move a couple of wires.

And the missing screw, build quality on the teslas suck period. The only reason why I would get one or like them is because I don't have to pay for petrol, and its extremely fast. Other than that it not a car that I would feel good driving in, compared to other cars.

Is it? Superficial rust on a part you can't see won't affect the structural integrity of the vehicle as a whole. Other cars have drive-shafts and I've never once heard of a car breaking down because the "drive shaft rusted through".

First, the cost for what is done (if that video shows all of it ?) seems pretty stiff. Second, spraying grease in a brake caliper is asking for trouble. Some can be applied in super small quantity with the tip of the finger, using a spray definitely not a good practice. Third, "cleaning" brake pads with sand paper is not only utterly pointless, it will promote rust as the black coating is compromised. The video actually does a good job showing bare steel appearing on "cleaned" edges. Now these will definitely rust there. The face of the pads look poor because they are so little used on an EV it is really not a concern. If you want to prevent that use them hard once in a while. Or just don't care about it. Lastly, dragging brakes are not caused by lack of grease on the pads to caliper surface but by stuck pistons or stuck caliper pins on cars that use these. Pads contacting the rotor do pretty much nothing as long as no pressure is applied. Won't comment the hanging caliper, it is just so careless... Overall I wouldn't want to have my car serviced there but I must admit, there are not many places where I would want my car serviced.

Its really cheap tbh. But i guess it depends what they do on the car. Most of the stuff you could do yourself if you have an elevator garage. Thing is most people dont care about their car to do this yearly. They feel a car should be good for years without spending a dollar. Same as people change their tires way to seldom.
