I’d buy the i4 BUT I want an aftermarket front bumper and original shaped kidney grille with the M colours run through it.

@RandomlyInaccurate that concept is 85-88% what the production model will be (interior, exterior & performance).🤦🏻‍♂️ And you will see this car roaming on roads nearly in 1 year (end of 2021). The grille is mainly for display as opposed to cooling, hence why it is quite closed. But electric cars do generate a fair bit of heat and still need cooling - but obviously not at much as regular cars.

What air intake?

Because they’re gonna sell the same chassis with an ICE engine.

This about 90% to the production car. Real thing will have the exact same body, normal headlights/tail lights instead of the floating lenses (but same shape), probably different wheels (although similar aero wheels are possible) and most likely some changes for the interior. The older i4 concept was the true concept, this is more or less the production BMW i4.

But BMW remains to be a BMW Tesla loses its identity to Porsche. (No offend to Tesla and don't jump with your fuckin' comments on me as he said this statement)

@@insidelane if a brand produces a product at a performance and luxury level which matches or surpasses the majority of other models within the range, and at a lower price point, that product will cut into the market share of the other models. you might not think its a huge issue but in the long run, it will significantly reduce profits in terms of the money pumped into all the production/ R&D/marketing costs it took to make the other models, not just the drop in actual sales of those models. For a brand with a large portfolio of models, like BMW, achieving long term growth, profits and sustainability through controlling the market segments (price points balanced with performance/luxury levels of the entire range is critical.

No word on pricing as of yet, but I’d expect it to be a little more, but not by too much.

BMW usually downplays the performance of its vehicles. When they say 4s 0-100km/h expect 3,8s. The range of the x5/ 45 hybrid gives you a 5km more range when tested in real life situations....

Not really. They have some of the most inconsistent test results due to ICE lag plus launch control bugginess.

This a driver focused vehicle, they expressed that this won't be their option for self driving and bmws target market for performance vehicles lines up with that. Besides that you say it can't match the model 3? What do you mean?

@@insidelane Yes i did, 6 years ago and my first impression was that this vehicle is build only to make profit, not to impress or make it's owner to feel special in any way. I'm not saying it's a bad car but it's quite far away from the other top luxury brands like BMW or Mercedes or Audi and so on.. :)

I’d certainly say that early Model S and X build quality and material quality were sub-par, however, the Model 3 is a big improvement. To call the car a ‘Jambo Toyota Prius’ or a ‘boring piece of crap’ is pretty misguided. As a motoring journalist, it’s not a bad car at all.
