Today I am going to unbox and test three different Bluetooth game controller adapters and see if they work with the Model 3. I'm testing with the Microsoft Xbox Core Controller, Sony DualShock 4 (2nd gen) Controller, and Sony DualSense Controller for PS5.

The problem using a PS5 DualSense controller (over BlueTooth) for Steam games in your Tesla is that it mixes up your buttons. And after you reconfigure the controller buttons so that it all works, IT WONT SAVE the settings. So you have to do this every time. BUT, I have an update on this. I spoke to Playstation tech support and they said to use the USB cable instead of the BlueTooth. It WORKS! All the buttons are correct. Probably BlueTooth will get a fix later down the road, but for now, just use the USB Cable.

Problem is that 2023 m3 tesla only have one data port and it is inside the glovebox now.. all other ports, in the center console, in the back are non data port.. so we have to open the glovebox everytime. If those bluetooth devices dongle require to be resync everytime you turn the vehicle on it can be very annoying to reopen the glovebox eveytime… Tesla decided to leave one data port because of a lack of parts…

Yes, unfortunately not everything is an improvement on the newer Teslas.

Guess the two adapters for 2 players was only becauze you had 2? Normally you can connect multiple controllers to one adapter right?

Only one controller per adapter.

According to various folks on TMC, the mayflash with Xbox controllers works. Not sure why you were having issues.

Found a potential solution - “In case anyone finds themselves in a similar situation I figured out my problem. You need to set the Magic NS to green for PC input. Don't use the Xbox input. It works perfectly in all games now btw.”

I tried all the modes and none worked. Were they using the new Core controllers? The old controllers would work fine.

@@MTNRanger you have to use the green color on the may flash. I saw it on another channel

@@MTNRanger I was hoping to buy a cheaper adapter than the may flash. My M3 is coming with usb-c I believe. Ughhh. Sucks being a gamer and having to deal with cords 😅

I tried the 8BitDO adapter in my 2023 Model X and did not get it to work. (updated the firmware, activated the "X control mode" etc. ). I then figure out, that the Xbox ONE wireless controller even connects directly to the car without the need of any dongle directly via bluetooth....

Yes, the revised S and X allow Bluetooth controllers now. A nice upgrade over the 3 and Y.

Hello, do you have to synchronize the gamepad with the controller each time you use it or does it happen automatically?

Once it is sync, you don't need to do it again.

Can you connect a wireless controller to the Mayflash AND a wired one to the passthrough USB using both at the same time and as different players?

Unfortunately, they car service the adapter as one device only. I’ll check just in case - I got to find my USB C to A adapter to test.

OK, I just tested it. The wireless controller and the wired controller are the same. In the Tesla games, both controllers work as player one.

What’s the best to buy? What controllers and dongle do you recommend? I have a 2023 model 3 and want to connect two controllers wirelessly and also be able to play steam when /if that becomes available to me.

Good question, it's been a while since I used these adapters. You will need two adapters for two wireless controllers. However, I'm not sure if the refreshed (2020+) cars support multiple controllers. Do games that can use controllers show up in your game list? Generic Xbox controllers are probably the best price. The updated 8bitdo 2 seems to be compatible with a lot of controllers. amzn.to/3PRSB6A

@@shmuelb.1460 The newer cars use the USB port that is in the glove box. The USB ports in the center console are charging only.

@@shmuelb.1460 Personally, I only use the wired EasySMX controller. Either Sony or MS controllers are good, but fairly expensive unless you buy used on eBay. I don't have any particular recommendations for generic wireless controllers since I haven't tested any.

I just purchased the Sony DualSense PS5 controller and with a USB cable it can play some of the games, but not Beach Buggy Racing 2 or Cuphead (I can't even start Cuphead). Can you confirm if it works for you with a cable?

Wow you’re right. I just plugged mine in and it is not working with either BBR2 or Cuphead. I have updated firmware on the controller a couple times. Either something on the controller changed or in the Tesla. I’ll need to look into this further.

does the new xbox one controller w/ wireless adapter work for a new sept 2022 model y or is it best to use the Magic NS 2 Wireless Bluetooth USB Adapter?

I only have access to my 2018 Model 3 and I never could get the Microsoft wireless adapter to work. I think the Magic NS 2 which now supports one controller is the best choice.

My Xbox One wireless controller works out of the box with my 2023 Model X with HW 4.0
