Cristian was driving his Model 3 in Fort Worth, Texas while following behind a Model Y with Colorado plates.
Just as he was considering taking a road trip in his Tesla, the Model Y crashed right in front of him!
A car had pulled out from a side street, and we’ve got to say: the placement of that bus stop really made it hard to see around that corner.
Cristian pulled over to check on both drivers, and they were both fine. Cristian was able to send them his Teslacam footage.

I live in a small village, our views literally blocked both way by a wall when we get out from an alleyway, it doesn't hurt to inch out, check the lane you're entering, THEN enter

It didn't seem abrupt, it looks like the car was stopped at the sidesteet for the whole length of the video. Makes me wonder even more how he managed to miss the Tesla coming from down the road and around the bend...?

Yes! My Uncle lives on the next street over and I have so much anxiety visiting him because of that road. That road is horrible and people are always flying coming from over the hill in the opposite direction.

Poor placement of things is a popular thing in Texas, especially around Dallas. My aunt's neighborhood has a speed limit sign right behind an electric pole... Like i mean DIRECTLY behind it, as in not even 5 inches behind. You only see the speed limit as you pass the pole and if you're unlucky enough, you might be speeding before you realize how fast you're going. It doesn't help that (because there's a school on that road) there's a lot of police roaming around

Crash or not, the Tesla was braking on impact, so the damage / injury was lessened. The system is not meant to prevent all accidents but rather reduce the damage and risk of life.

Not so much the bus stop shelter as the business sign perpendicular to the road that prevents a view of oncoming traffic. Nonetheless, the side street car driver had a running start vs a creeping approach to check on traffic. Notice also the front wheels of the intruding car are not turned as in an intended right turn. This driver wanted to across the road!

The license plate on the vehicle that got struck is a null and void point to this video. Not just a bus stop but all the signage they have around that curve is dangerous. From what I saw you can't even see the vehicle waiting to enter the street.

I’ll never understand why people design things and put them right in front of turns when the object is in the way of the view. I live in an area with signs, bushes, and bus stops all put right next to turning lanes. It’s so frustrating lol

⚠️Amazed it didn't catch fire. That Tesla will probably be written off regardless of the damage. Tesla have a policy of scrapping the whole battery pack if a scratch is more than 5mm long on the casing

You should drive in Georgia they literally have hedges right next to driveways and they aren’t shot they high enough only lifted trucks can see over in order for a small vehicle they literally have to pull out into the lane slowly all I got to say is if I get in an accident because of that I’m suing the city for not providing safe roads

the bus stop is the last obstacle to vision, the two business signs before it obstruct ANY long range viewing as well. maybe that's why most signs are on top of poles, not at ground level. that's a County bi-law flaw or a county inaction flaw. A good lawyer could sue the county and the businesses for their signs.....

Autopilot is no excuse for a tremendous lack of observational skill. In addition, the person who pulled put should've waited a bit further and stuck their nose out slightly before actually going in order to get better visibility instead of just going without checking past the bus stop. Both drivers are at fault here imo.

So always look look look, but I think what happened is that you have a white truck and car on a curving road. I bet the driver just saw one perfectly time vehicle and with a bus stop in the way didn't realize it was 2. Saw the white truck go by and thought no other vehicles in the lane.

In Texas we automatically know if the plates are Colorado, Louisiana, New Mexico or Oklahoma stay clear because they cannot drive.

I blame all three. The Tesla driver for believing in self driving cars. Tesla for thinking they can make self driving cars so quickly, and that bus stop being so close to an intersection. Intersections should be at least 200 feet from an intersection and if you don’t have that then don’t put a bus stop there.

The semi transparent bus stop shelter, combined with the semi transparent tint on the SUV's windows, make visibility almost nil. Whose dumbass idea was it to place a bus stop on a bend just before a crossing or intersection anyway? All parties to all accidents occurring here should sue the soul out of the municipality.
