Good to know you were still able to travel at a reasonable speed beyond 0% (ie no power reductions). Was hoping someone with an Aussie Y would do a less then zero range test so thanks for that!
This was the most wholesome Tesla model Y review I've seen and super relatable having two kids of my own thinking about getting this car. Thanks mate from Brissie!
Just remember you have to keep your hands on the wheel at all times here in Australia or you risk getting a fine. You may want to think about editing out the video of you driving with no hands on the steering wheel :)
"Cave man instincts"..I laughed. Yes I feel that when I drive my daughters Palero "sports" (surely Mitsubishi are taking the piss). All those dials and buttons are so confusing after driving a Tesla M3 for 12 months. Enjoyed thoroughly...
New Zealand's EV adoption is amazing. Top two selling cars last month was the Model Y followed by Model 3 in 2nd place. Hope the colder weather isn't lowering range.
Epic. MYP hasn't hit our shores in Au yet. I've test driven the M3P. Almost shat my pants whilst breaking my neck at the same time. Keen to try it again in the Y.. I'll report with a performance review.
Hey, love the vid. Can you tell me why the evie charging is free? Im thinking about getting a model y in a few months if the finance numbers work out how i think they will.
I got it free with finance deal. Not sure if it's still on. Also it's not free anymore for me. Only for a year. Regardless all chargers at shopping centers are usually free too. Use my referral link to get $500 - $1000 off on your Y.
I’d rather stop at Gundagai than Goulburn. It’s on the highway. Goulburn is a 10 minute detour southbound. (Northbound you can cheat if you use Chargefox).
From my road trip, it would've helped to have at least 50km extra range.. Cut off a solid 15% off the claimed WLTP range and that's more real world. Expect 435km for MYP and about 386km for MY Standard. Unless you're a performance geek, it's not worth the $34k premium for extra range alone. The second I get my hands on a MYP, I'll do the exact same trip and vlog it for you guys.
Unfortunately, tesla only plans for super chargers. Totally works, but in my case I had free charging with Evie. So I had to plan it. They're working on an update that plans for other reliable chargers. But that's a future update.
Tesla’s in Australia have the common CCS2. So we can use Tesla chargers + public chargers without any adapters or cables. Though, you might need a CCS2 charging cable for some shopping centres and charging spots.
Hey Aaron, we dropped our speed from 114km/h to about 90 on a 110 highway. I think we wouldn’t have made it if we didn’t lower our speed. Car had a red box saying “charge required to get to destination”. That was about it. No beeps or flashing lights.
Hi . Can I ask a question? If I drive on the M4 motorway with a Tesla Model Y, then pass through the M7 motorway and take the M5 to Sydney Airport International Terminal, can Tesla Autopilot take me there without the driver having to drive at all?
Hi, loved the video! Just wondering - Do you have the performance model y? Or the standard with the 20” wheels? Or did you get the 19” wheels and change the covers? Your car looks great! 😊
@@thesamuelnam why are they a must? Better looks or does it affect range? One criticism of the Y I’ve heard is a firm ride so was thinking 19s might be slightly better? Loving your videos
@Mububban23 pure looks. In fact you lose range by doing induction upgrade. I've tested both Gemini vs induction for ride quality, it was negligible to me. I did see some nice 19 black wheel covers that kind of look similar though.
So stoked to find another video by you. How can a EV review be so fun but still have so much useful info. Sooo much better than having a Pom spit stats at me while eating KFC.
There used to be one charger in Fairy Meadow (Wollongong) that was set up for antique BMW i3's where you needed an adapter. But it's been faulty for months, and its (completely unnecessary from a design perspective) start button has been clapped out for years. It's probably never coming back. Everything else this side of WA uses the standard CCS Type 2 plug that's on every Tesla Model 3&Y in Australia.
Lol. Sorry for making it seem worse than it is. There are super chargers every 150km, we purposely didn’t use them to see what would happen. Plus this is the lowest range Tesla you could buy. But yeah. The first few weeks. Definitely had range anxiety. I have two teslas now absolutely zero anxiety today.
There were a million Tesla chargers. But we tried to use Evie network since it was free. We happened to hit 0% when then next Super charger was about 40ish km away.
Tells people how their car sux but then goes onto to showing the many charging stops that is required in an EV 😂😂 How ironic.. Inferior pointless technology
As an EV owner , I understand the humour you put in the video to make it stand out but unfortunately Non-EV people are gonna use such video clips to spread things that are not true about EV. If you gotta seek attention, please do it in a way that doesn't aid such acts. Cheers
