I live in Charlotte North Carolina USA and enjoyed your videos of the drives you have done through Scotland. My wife and I visited Maui Hawaii in 2011 and your roads remind me of the road to Hana on Maui. It is a beautiful country you live in, I am surprised the area does not have more people living there than it does. Of course there are areas along the coast of North Carolina that are also somewhat desolate. I bought my wife a Tesla Model Y AWD Long Range in June of this year (we are both retired) and so far we have enjoyed the car tremendously. We have driven the car 7,706 miles and charge at home using a level 2 charger I installed in our garage myself. The total cost to drive 7,706 miles so far is $263 dollars (total 86% at home), we have done some free Supercharging (we were granted some free Supercharging miles when we bough the car) (about 6% so far) and free charging on trips at the hotels we have stayed at (8%). I just looked at the life time average on the car and we have used a total of 1,975 kWh of energy, the average energy used is 256 Wh/mi . That is the same as getting 131.7 MPGe (miles per gasoline equivalent). It gets very hot here in the months of June through August and we use the air conditioner quite a lot in the summer. Charlotte is hot and humid in the summer. Humidity levels are generally 85 to 90% during the summer months, especially July and August, and mid-day temperatures reach into the 90s (32 to 35 C).Our winter months are not very bad here in the Charlotte NC area. Generally we don't get below freezing for long periods of time before it warms up. In January (our coldest month) the average low is 33.3°F (.072 C) ,and the average high is 48.7°F (9.27 C). It will be interesting to see how much the winter weather effects our efficiency. Best regards Steve.
That’s a great efficiency for the Model Y. The mix of slow and fast roads really does help to boost the efficiency. You might be interested in my Model 3 1000 mile challenge RU-vid video to all four points of the Scottish mainland compass.
correct side of the road, THE LEFT!! and correct placement of steering wheel the RIGHT!! AND he says what i ways say to people in the name "JUST GET A TESLA" a legend for the ages.
Great video, nice to see another local YT channel. Glad you enjoyed the roads, you actually drove right past my house on the coast road between Newburgh and Cruden Bay. Anyway, great content, of all the EV's on the market I'm leaning towards a Tesla so it's good to see real world content about the ownership experience etc👍
Having got bored of local trips to the shops (as everyone with ICE insists is the only thing EVs can be used for), we went to Switzerland (to a local shop as rightfully advised ;) ) and had an absolute blast in our Model Y. For reference: 1,685 miles, £156 via mostly Superchargers, airbnb and a couple of hotels, none of which were free. The next trip to Italy is booked already. My Charge Place Scotland card arrived today, my only issue is an allergy to crap weather so i'm already struggling a bit this year, the idea of heading to Scotland is a struggle but I figured i'd be prepared regardless. ;)
Beautiful trip that makes me want to go there myself. Also a good way of test the range under real circumstances giving a good hint what range I might get when I got myself a Tesla since roads in Sweden have very much the same structure and speed limits. When I get a Tesla myself, that might come sooner than I expected just weeks ago I really have to visit UK to see all the beautiful parts of this beautiful Island. Thanks a lot for inspiration and also a good bit of learning.
I have a Tesla model 3 RWD. I have had the car almost 3 months now and have driven it from Northern New Jersey to Asheville North Carolina and back. Also have taken several day trips. The cars screams at me to take it out on scenic drives just like your 2 part video. Best thing I can say is after watching you video is that I want to hop on a plane to Scotland, rent a Tesla and mimic your driving experience. Beautiful video.
Yes, the first one of your videos I looked at was a roadtrip video and I loved it and immediately subscribed to your channel. Never been to Scotland, got to visit it looks enchanting. @@justgetatesla
I had postponed to reply previously because we did the route previously. @Ian we did😮 similar routes a year ago with our 95 gas, VW Touran. And this Easter with our touran we did isle of skye, orkney islands and the NC500... .Now it's time for some thing new
I wonder who came up with the stupid idea of mandating EV companies to publish WLTP figures. ICE cars don’t publish a range figure for their vehicle, they just have official efficiency numbers. Why don’t they have to publish EV efficiency figures. If I was cynical I’d say the oil companies had something to do with lobbying for range figures to be the official ones and it is them who are encouraging the various litigations going on as far as claimed range. Good job I’m not cynical!
Great couple of videos Ian, I really enjoyed them 👍 Taking my Model Y out for it's first longish trip tomorrow to the British Motor Show down in Farnborough in Hampshire, so a round trip of about 150 miles. Hope you're well.
Really looking forward to getting a tesla. I currently have a leaf, but i genuinely wouldn't take it on a long trip due to the hassle with charging outside of the Tesla network.
If you were to put the car into autopilot with a 2 car following distance you would get the best milage. Autopilot is best at keeping speed and the car in front would reduce your drag.
We’ve got 4.2m/kWh over 11,000 km. Live in a city and NZ a bit different…slower speed but offset by even worse roads. Ours in the smaller battery so I wonder if being a bit lighter makes a difference?
@justgetatesla looks like your display is not showing signs or other vehicles? Have you fixed this yet & if so how? I had the same and my fix was obscure but successful.
@@justgetatesla the solution to fix this issue with me was to change the country language to anything other than British English (or whatever set to currently) then change it back to Preferred language - effectively a cache flush/OS re-initialisation I think.
Have you got any ppf for the front? How's your car held up with all the motorway driving you have been doing? Im picking up my model y next month and my driving habits are similar to yours albeit I'm in England.
