AI will bubble. I hate to say it. You really need good talent to make it work. Building AI datacenters will not make AI bloom. We are in a shortage of peek talent. More importantly, we have a glut of class C devs. It's hard to just find a geek and get results anymore. They will overbuild and a lot of AI datacenters will fail or near fail. Tesla will most likely have no issue finding the best talent, but lots of others won't have that option. Hence the bubble. Be weary. This will play out over the next 6 years. (About the time to gather capital and build out the grid and datacenters.) Then the chaos will occur.

The largest fixed cost of a data center is the infostructure and size of the facility. The largest non fixed costs are hardware and energy requirements for operation and cooling. If you can eliminate the cost of electricity with the fixed cost of installing batteries and solar then you already have a data center that's 30% more cost effective at least during operation after it is already fully constructed and set up.
Massive demand for other data centers to buy tesla power packs and solar to compete. And tesla can sell out compute for insane efficency and almost pure profits as a way to offset costs of developing these systems.
Data centers spend ~35% of their power on cooling. Shifting to swamp cooling, geothermal cooling (SEER ~33), or Tesla heat pump could make a large change in that part of the usage.

I have to say that I am not a fan of focusing so much on grid power. While grid growth and maintenance are reliable in normal times, I always imagine the abnormal times when infrastructure fails. Then, for any not equipped with alternative power, they are out of luck till the grid is back on its feet. I strongly recommend that anyone who is able invest in on-site power, solar being the most simple and maintenance-free. This used to be cost-prohibitive for lots of people but the past few years have made it doable for many more.
Isn’t the installation cost of renewable energy (solar and wind) lower than fossil fuel plants? Nearly all future additional power generation added to the grid will not be fossil or nuclear. Interestingly, even earth moving equipment (mining) is slowly going electric. As more and more homes go solar, that’ll (slightly) reduce demand on the grid.
For average people to benefit from Tesla making all these products doesn't Tesla have to do share BuyBacks and if so that means they're not going to be buying back for another 20 or 30 years and all the ups and downs in the share prices are just average people and hedge funds.

Teslas energy storage apparently is going to 4x this year alone wait till the new factory opens in China next year. Tesla made 800 million last year in profits just on energy storage. So this year they will make in profits about 3 billion. The growth rate is actually going to increase before in slows.

If they had been trained in Asia, they would use the left arm to throw the battery to the right arm, which would place the battery in the right place, or at the very least use both arms for one battery each.

Actually I’ve been there too and it turned out nuclear did the job after the renewables farce played out and proved inadequate and way too expensive. They realised they would have to keep replacing hundreds of thousands of square miles of solar panels every 15 years. The cost of producing them, installing, cleaning and maintaining and the huge amount of emissions that would entail was silly. The enormous cost of the land requirement was also a factor no one had considered.
I still don't get why Tezluh's solar business remains such a dog, has met none of the optimistic growth predictions made in the past. Energy was like 5% of total revenue last year, if I'm not mistaken.
Would have been a reasonable idea in 1985 - but the ramp up of mining, refining, supply chain, expertise requirements, build, operate, lifecycle management and waste treatment - along with reliance and sovereign risk of foreign owned and financed operators and the massive tax subsidies make it too little too late. Storage options (including thermal storage) are ramping up faster and cheaper, can provide better dispersed energy resilience and by over-scoping storage, those power demands can be managed over days.
So much for the grid not being able to handle a transition to EVs. Seems like data centers will be the real problem and EVs will actually be part of the solution. Wonder what Tesla-Q is going to say about that.
Better start building nuclear plants, yesterday. Elon needs to design a more efficient micro nuclear plant. Needs to release his heat pump design and license it to the large hvac companies so they can switch over to 48V AC systems. Need a new Water Heater design as well. Those are the two biggest energy hogs in a home.
Elon once said that they could power the entire US with a 100 X 100 square mile stamp like solar farm, that's approximately 10,000 miles of solar panels. There are approximately 70 interstate highways in the US that total approximately 157, 724 miles. Now imagine if they were to build solar fences on both sides of the highway everywhere it is applicable on every state highway. How much energy would that produce without taking up any new land & adding small wind turbine on the solar panel fence posts to take advantage of the wind created by the passing cars 24/7. Every state would look after the purchase & installation of the highways within their states along with the Federal Government. thereby reducing the overall cost to any one government & spreading the cost throughout the country. They could also build all along the highways Mega-Pack installations to store the energy & givern it is in every state the highway system would transport electrical energy throughout the entire country.
Your multi-decade time horizon is straight line thinking. We are accelerating innovation rapidly. Expect a lot of that to be done by 2035, and maybe much sooner.
IF the robotaxi works as expected, increasing utilization to 70% AND reducing cost of transportation substantially, then something obvious follows. The demand for consumer automobiles is going to fall precipitously. This is just one example of incredible new efficiencies on the way. There will be others. Most of these power projections are based on our current Neanderthal level power usage patterns. the coming world is going to be far more productive and efficient. An example is the much greater bang for watt from the newer nVidia cards and more are on the way. Tesla batteries are going to be very important, just not quite as important as this story predicts. And Tesla cars (or other EVs) will not replace all the cars currently on the roads, because a lot less cars will be needed. And there will surely come a point of diminishing returns on humanoid robots well before there are two per person in use at the same time. There are great times coming, but a dash of temperance makes sense.

SMR has some pretty cool thoughts & ideas 💡. But to your point he never says anything negative about Tesla or Elon. As if they can’t do any wrong. I still follow him , but you’re correct, every moment is not a moment to buy Tesla stock.
He is over the top for sure. It's important to develop your own investing thesis. Do research, watch earnings calls etc. And decide if Tesla is for you. If you have a set amount that you invest monthly and dollar cost average, you're less likely to be in the red. I started investing in 2022 so, Tesla has been quite a ride. However, this doesn't change my conviction that Tesla will be a major player in AI and robotics. So, I will continue to invest. Good luck to you❤
