1990 Tesla went big time with this single.....and they hit their prime with the next studio album, 1991's Psychotic Supper. The band was headlining huge arenas. We Sacramento fans who grew up in that same South Sacramento neighborhood couldn't be more proud of these guys.

At 50 years old, I've seen close to a thousand concerts. One of the first 10 was this tour. Half acoustic, half electric. It's one of the top 10 concerts I've seen. Super talented band bringing lots of energy. Edit: This is just a cover from a show. It was never in an album. Certainly not their best.

The original version was from around 1971; believe it or not!! And no, Tesla did not mess around with the lyrics! Both this and the 'Five Man Electrical Band' version are GREAT!🎉

Yes, the original lyric is "blockin' out the scenery". He also (mistakenly) says "you look like a fine outstanding young man" (it's "upstanding", which makes sense). But this cover was the first time I heard the song when it came out while I was working in music in L.A. and I really liked it.

Ryan, your enthusiasm, your desire to learn, and your innate sweetness make up for any lack of musical knowledge you may feel you have. Remember, Ty is a musician, and has been exposed to more types of music, so please don't be feel bad or pressured. We're happy you guys are still doin' it. As for the song tonight, Tesla did a grrr-eat job covering it! The original from Five Man Electrical Band was basically a one-hit wonder in the US, though they had more hits in their home country of Canada.

I saw this tour 5 different times, different locations and each and everyone cranked... The lead singer is Jef Keith.. And as far as the lyrics are as they were when -5 Man Electical Band- originally did it. Except the for the line in the original "Sign sign everywhere a sign BREAKIN' up the scenory breaking my mind" and the Tesla line is "Sign sign everywhere a sign FUCKIN up the scenory breakin my mind"

Sound quality is always good for every/any band, when they're being filmed for a DVD release. They use the better recording and filming equipment, and give it a lot of post production/editing and autotuning.

I saw them in ATL about 7 years ago. They played with Def Leopard and Styx . Tesla was far better than the other two. I was amazed at how great they were live! Love Tesla

My favorite band but not my favorite song from them. They've been closing shows with it the last few years. I highly recommend "Song and Emotion". The live version from "Hangin' with MTV" is awesome! Good job guys!

Ryan don't let anyone compare you to Ty. The sum of the parts is greater than the whole. You add your own approach and no one knows everything when then start down their musical journey. You guys are still doing fine.

In the radio version, 5 Man Electrical Band said messing up the scenery but Tesla kept it accurate.

Every 5th car in my neighborhood is a Tesla. The one lyric/word change that really bugs me is "you look like a fine upstandin' young man" is changed to "fine outstanding young man." Don't know why. And, it was originally "blockin' out the scenery, " not "F-ing up the scenery."

Unplugged concerts (especially with the popularity of MTv Unplugged) were all the rage around this time period. Many artists still have a few unplugged spots in their shows. BTW, most of this album is Tesla originals.

Bought this concert on vhs back in the day. This song is overplayed on the radio so I prefer the other tracks, but this is still a good song.

Saw them at a 4th of July show, they did a set, fireworks, then an acoustical set followed by more rock. No opener, just them.

Five Man Electric Band is the original, I'm biased toward the original because it was part of my childhood memories but they did a good cover. This is an early 70's song, you should do the original and Tesla didn't change anything.

🎉what does it matter? The band did an excellent job to an ironic song of the 70's. Nick is a snob! Good reaction. The song has a deep message about how signs rule our society. Nick's not deep.
