How Can Readers' Theater be Used to Combat Racism, Hate, and Injustice
Alexis Finger
Recorded April 9, 2022
Session Abstract
In 2014, with the support of Drexel University’s English Language Center, a colleague and I created a readers’ theater with the purpose of bringing together members of the Drexel University community to combat racism and injustice through drama. With a diverse group assembled, we performed in person for six years. The special bonding of the participants and the comments during our follow up discussions strongly suggested our activity was opening minds to new ways of thinking. In 2020, when Drexel went online, a former graduate student became our production director and make it possible to continue our activity on Zoom.
