when i saw that first shot, when i saw your dark circles and intense gaze, i literally said out loud THIS IS SO COOL. you look cool, and different, and i’m so happy that you’re playing with your image and sound. you’re such an exciting artist to watch!
I'm so glad you took the time to talk about your financial situation. I've been following your RU-vid channel for probably 10 years now? And I'm not going to lie it like really rubbed me the wrong way that you weren't online for a year and then the first video you did again was asking for money. Now watching this and knowing what your situation was like I apologize for being so quick to judge. You really do have a passion for music, and to follow that passion sans a record label footing the bill has got to be an incredible financial drain. Thanks so much for the interesting video and the reminder to not be so quick to see the bad in people.
I was so pleased to see your eye baggies! Growing up my eyes were made fun of by so many. Worst was the people who thought it was in their place to tell me how to get rid of them in our normal conversations. Don't feel bad about them. When I saw my daughter just after she was born she had my bags and it gave me a entirely new respect for them! They are the sign of a hard worker, and a cute smile!
This is just great. Just great. I really appreciate how Tessa references who's said what when she's retelling someone else's thoughts. It's so respectful :)
God it's so cool to see two creators I look up to talking honestly to each other and just like... having a normal people conversation. I think creators get idolized so much nowadays that it can be hard to see them as other people who are just out there doing their best, so thank you, and I hope there's another video coming soon of Tessa getting to talk about Hank's book!
i've been wanting to know the background story of you two hanging out at Disneyland and how y'all met since i saw the photo on IG. this warmed my heart because i can tell that you two have a genuine friendship. 💛
I was surprised to hear that your eyebags in the crush video weren't intentional! I feel like they are a part of the main character in that video, like being tired as hell and falling for someone in a grocery store feels like such a ~relatable millennial thing~ that suits the song really well.
Tessa. You are an example for a person you would randomly pass by at a random moment in your life - bringing you to a full stop wondering where the heck you have been all the time.
I love this whole video. You two are both so intelligent and speak with such understanding and empathy, especially with the ways you discussed RU-vid and music being similar... I just appreciated it a lot. You're both brilliant. Much love.
Just found Tessa like a week ago and well... I'm obsessed. Songs to fell in and out of love to, such a clear and just lovely voice and seemingly a great personality. If there's a show in Hamburg (GER) in the future, I'm going to be there. front row.
I also have HUGE dark circles and I totally relate to sometimes being insecure about it, but now I’m like whatever about them. I don’t love them, but I know they’re always gonna be there, so might as well accept them.
and here I am watching you two since the very early days on youtube and still enjoying all of your content! Thank you for still being on this platform, I am looking forward to the next 10 years. much love
Take Marina, for example. Her pop music always has such a deep meaning, even her songs that are about love or being a high maintenance woman, or whatever, has a deeper underlying message. I think most pop music that I really vibe with is like that. But like, sometimes a song is just catchy as hell and that's dope too
homie dark circles or not you are extraordinarily beautiful, the music video I loved cause of how goofy ya danced and genuine you looked. Pretty sure I have watched the music video like 6 times in a row before and every time I watch it I notice something different, and its catchy as heck! lol
I remember when you were in Stafford, VA for a living room tour concert in 2013 or 2014 (not sure which year). It was so awesome to meet you then, but it is amazing to see how far you have come too.
already seen it on hankschannel but hell yes im gonna watch it again. you both are incredible and word things in a way i never thought of. very insightful and lovely xxx
The way Tessa looks, the under eye lines... It's what hooked me. I'm a guy, but I kinda have the exact same feelings that seem to be "reserved" only for the females of the species lol omfg like at my thinnest I felt I looked fat which I learnt means I have body dismorphia/dismorphia disorder or BDD... And I used to look at reflective surfaces going to high school groaning every single time cuz I'd get some unflattering perspective... Point being, it is so fucking brave and cool to have that start the video. I fucking seriously loved it, them the clothes... Man, just perfect *chefs kiss*. Seriously. I found it, the video, after not just COVID but personal tragedy after personal tragedy. I had almost every aspect of my life dismantled. And, while out during that period, I found out that psychedelics are in a grey market legal sense ok to sell here in Toronto, or I guess all of Canaduh?? Dunno, but my bff/very recently former roommate slash platonic partner or whatever, took me for a surprise to a magic mushroom dispensary! I thought it was wild how quickly weed got not illegal here but to then see my friends of the squat brown and tinged magic blue variety just waiting in a "store"like setting... Blown mind. Anyways, sometime after the mushroom tea I ran into a bunch of incredible shit that I would never have otherwise. So, thank you shrooms. "How did you hear of or discover us?" i really enjoyed this conversation... especially the topics of what goes into creating and promoting music, details of the crush music video, and the dread when you share your art with someone waiting to see if they like it
Just watched this on Hank's channel before watching this 'cause I thought that they were two different videos. I'll watch this to help by giving a view, like, and a comment. This was an enjoyable video to watch. Hope that you had a Merry Christmas! Hope that 2019 will treat you well! Sorry that this comment is so late. I've been catching up on content from multiple channels over the past few months or so. I'll be watching the "pillow talk with my mom!" video and "Bad Ideas" music video after this.
I've always been a little jealous of how you look but when I saw that little dark circles moment, for a second I thought "wow, you look like me..." So. That's a thing. Thank...you....?
Interesting talk, lots of good things to think about, I e context and perspective. Thank you both for your creativity. Also side story I went to play "Crush" on a jukebox in Doylestown Pa and sadly discovered that none of Tessa Violets music was on it. How to fix this? Need some time and a crayon ...
So proud of you. As a fellow songwriter, much newer to the journey, I really look up to you. I am so glad you've come back to RU-vid! This video was very informative and so interesting! So thanks!
I like this. It seems silly, but thank you for being "brave" in just being you. I love crush and I have pushed it around a fair amount. :D thanks for doing what you do.
I've followed you since you did the breakup song with rhett and link and I've loved your evolution of music and growth. Crush is greatttttt. Haze was great. ALL YOUR SONGS ARE GREAT 💚 Sidenote: please come to New Hampshire. Or back to Boston at least 😁
1:34 haha so true, if you learn the theory about the actual production of art, like use of shapes in figure drawing, or building and releasing tension in music, it a lot easier to comment on that especially if you didn't like the art piece 😂😂
