Picked up one of these for $4500usd and the previous owner just had the timing chain service done and I love it. Its the most practical “fun” car I’ve ever owned and it rips for road trips.
@@miipa yes they are actually really reliable for me at least. And I bought my 2007 vert for $10k with 130k miles in mint condition. I just recently started doing stuff to it like getting a exhaust and tune and it’s pretty quick. Checkout my tiktok @4.2barlos
@@miipa Yes, if you can find one that has had the timing chain service done or if you can negotiate the price down so you can set money aside for the service later on, they are pretty solid cars besides this.
By the way, C Cashin, that’s a steal you got there! Timing done + $4500 = Wow. It’s not the fastest Audi wagon, but it has all the perfect ingredients that make it a joy to drive, which is more important that just horsepower numbers sometimes.
I bought one with 100k miles with timing chain done , AMAZING car ! . Find one that’s been taken care of so that you can also take care of it and you should be fine ! It’s a 20 year old car . Ppl will regret once they become a classic
Its the best s4 ever made for multiple reasons... Its the only s4 with the glorious v8 engine ( yes it has the chain issue but u just get the upgraded part and replace the whole thing, other then that its bulletproof) the quality of the build is THE BEST of all generations of s4... Its reasnoble to maintain since ot shares a lot of parts with the a4 series, its not an rs4 where maintanace is big bucks and pain in the ass and u get 80% of the rs4 for half the money... Yes it has the engine mounted on the nose but this generation s4 was faster on track then the e46 m3 back in the day so they made up for that with traction... This is the last of the old school cars and with that said its one of the greatest Audi cars of all times...This car can keep pace with a Lamborghini Mucierlago on the track
@@bongleberry5135 120k... Because the engine is so big in a small car that basically anything that goes wrong u have to get the engine out of the car and thats very painfull for ur wallet
@@BadMuflon more than a facelift lol. DIfferent torque split, different timing guides, different interior, the autos got a better trans. Also, a literal different generation of car, which is what I was pointing out lol
Great job on this video. Informative, fun, great camera work, audio, and the presenter guy is incredibly likable. Keep it up, do an R32 next!? Can't get enough of that footage.
Wow, thank You so much! To be perfectly honest, this video is still more like „try if it will work“ to do some english spoken review, but I'm not giving up. Even if the numbers are not the best ones. :-) But yes, comments like this one are pushing me to keep up with this content! Will try to find Golf R32. Once more - Thank You very much.
I'm happy to say that I have never heard a single rattle from my engine, never added a single quart of oil between my 3000 mile oil changes, (admitedly I only have 46,000 miles, if you want to really wake this car up, hollow out the pre-cats get a tune (mine was from JHM), and you will be shocked at how much more fun the car gets to be, the exhaust sound barley changes, just a little more raspy at high RPM.
These V8 don’t suffer with carbon build up … they have only common fault with timing chain guid which are plastic and they use to break . Also camshaft adjusters
Jsi fakt super toč klidně oběma jazyky na 1 kanále ale hlavně nekonči česky ani anglicky máš fakt super tvorbu .... Podle mě by většina lidí z cz/sk/en scény souhlasila
The main problem about a big engine in a smaller car like that is the maintenance and repair costs. You literally need to take the car apart to do dome basic stuff on that. We’d love to own a top of the line German car with a V8, and this one is affordable to get, but keeping it running is a real pain.
I don't tend to agree and I own a S4 B6 (exactly same colour and spec as in video) for 3 years now. These are much better cars than people think, as long as you buy one for which the timing chain has been replaced recently. Maintenance costs have been very low and really mainly for all other bits than the engine, which is indeed a gem.
@@wjvandenberg1 it's a good think the timing chaine has been replaced, otherwise those v8s are bulletproof. What about oil consumption ? I know Audi engines of this era loved to drink oil so I'm curious.
@@semird615 about 1 liter per 2000-3000km, which I guess is very normal for an engine this size (I think it takes 9 litres). It is mainly the TFSI engines that are famous for excessive oil consumption.
@@wjvandenberg1 well that's not too bad. I asked because I had an 3.0 b6 and it too consumed some oil. Enjoy and cherish your V8. The V8s are getting discontinued so owning is a special thing.
I drive on sluggish country roads and highways. This is the perfect car for that. If I want to turn I'd go for the A4 B8.5 with the right engine (facelift is important because diffs were moved farther back.) I'd probably even go for the 3.0TDI (torque at more technical roads ftw) over an S model, despite the V6 supercharged makes good horses on original parts.
What makes them they worst is the tend to be the least maintained… I don’t know how all the dirtbags got a hold of every last b6 but trying to find one that is in decent shape and hasn’t had crack smoked in it is pretty tough..
You can’t steer it because it’s a 16 year old car and the suspension needs replacing not because of the engine placement. I can tell you I drive brand new v8’s for a living and they have zero issues steering.
I’ve seen quite a lot of convertible S4’s for sale fairly cheap these days. Anybody had any experience driving in the convertible in comparison to handling of the saloon and avant?
I own S4 B7 2006 Facelift Avant for 3 years now, with Bilstein shocks and H&R sport springs i improved steering response by a lot. I love everything about this car except the fact that to do Timing chain engine has to come out. Btw. your video title sucks and is very inacurate.
I would say the S is sports tourers and the RS are plain sports cars my next car will be a 4.2 Quattro not sure if I'll choose a S4 or S6 both of them are rather cheap now days over here where I live.
Same weight engine as the 2.7 250bhp twin turbo lol do your research ffs. doesn't turn? Top gear did an e46 m3 vs s4 b6 and the S4 beat it round the track (only just)
